I know you don't like Garrus, Fort, but they did take very good care with his romance that brings me hope for the VS.  If you didn't recruit him in ME1 (and imported that game), you CANNOT romance him in ME2.  The dialogue is just not there.  The default game assumes recruitment.

The fact that they took that detail into consideration and wrote out the romance if you were dumb enough not to recruit him, gives me hope for the other details in VS romance, too.  They programmed something specific for the way you could play the game that is reflected in the characterization of one of the squadmates.  It's a tiny detail, but it's there.

Now, that's the only time I'll say that character's name today, I promise. :innocent:

But he's more popular so the devs bent over backwards to include that kind of stuff with him. Kaidan fans? No such luck, seeing that even one of the devs said "nobody likes Kaidan".

With the attitude that the devs have shown toward the original LI fans (especially the VS), I'm not expecting much in ME3.

Rawr. Now I don't want to write. Again. Stupid half-assed cameo...  <_<

You can't take anything the devs say as gospel right now.  I'm beginning to think they're just trying to smokescreen all that speculation and fan-begging.

Although I am not happy that you're upset Fort... I am all excited that you want to write...

That surely must have been before this thread started. Considering how they incuded Garrus just to please the fans, they will hopefully  give the ME1 LIs satisfying conclusion

Considering that these are the bioware boards, I would hope that they would at least look at the list of threads in this forum and notice how VERY popular this thread it--and how long-lasting.  That this is a segment of their demogrpahics that they want to keep happy in addition to the kindergamers (gosh, I love that term that someone threw out there recently hehe).

Plus, the VS and Liara are original characters.  I can't see them completely throwing them to the side for the fill in ME2 characters.

@ Alenko: i posted on my blog how i made the hair "grow out." in retrospect, it was a total pain, but it was sort of fun. anyhow, i got nice and cozy with the gibbed editor and my hubby has now taken this as indication that he ought to teach me to code. hmm - i'm not buying that. <_<

Its just pixels.. come now calm down >_>

i know this is several pages ago, but not it's not just pixels. it's a story - a d*mn good story. and one of my favorite parts of said story - the romance between the kickass LADY shepard and her beloved lt. alenko was just smacked down in me2 by plot goblins. i want a satisfying conclusion to that story, one that shows the two of them come to a resolution and become more in love than before.

yes, i do want to have my cake and eat it to. while defeating the reapers, thanks. ^_^

Many of you know how that goes in your own writing.  You have a general idea/outline of how things are going to go.  And some of the details change as you go along.

QFT.

this. i agree. i think tali fans and garrus fans were vocal, and so the devs pumped up those roles. i do hope that continual feedback re: the VS will end in a satisfactory conclusion to that story. i think the devs had an idea about the VS (and liara) carrying over into 3, but i do suspect that the garrus/tali fan outcry may have overshadowed that. i mean, seriously, how disappointing would that be if you made liara and ashley, then had all the fans go "NO! we want the one girl on the squad you couldn't have." i would have been like. "oh for the love of pete..."

personally, i'm impressed by BWs track record with writing for a female gamer in mind. having just been playing starcraft, i was like "zomg, this is SO written for boys only." it was sort of driving me crazy. coming back to ME is such a nice thing.

anyhow, i know i tend to be very hopeful, but i do hope that if the devs realize there is a strong VS-loving fanbase, that they will go ahead with original plans to implement that LI.

and i think if we stay on topic, post pics of kaidan, and remain polite (as truly, everyone is, which i think is awesome), at the very least the thread will continue to grow and gain notice.

I just want more RPG elements, a satisfying ending to the story, and Kaidan back as a squadmate and love interest in ME3.  If they can reassure me that those things are coming, I wouldn't worry anymore.

Me too!  If I was certain that Kaidan would play a large role in ME3, and retain the romance, and perhaps a squadmate instead of being a Horizon-like cameo, I wouldn't even be on these forums, because I'd be content to wait for ME3.  Instead, BW is making us naw our teeth in anticipation and forcing us fans to obsessively wonder and post on this thread to show our support.....

Now I need to run to the Mordin, Garrus, and Legion threads to show my support there. *zooms off*

Work's too busy and exhausting to let this stress me out, too.  LOL
We have the most active thread in this portion of the forum.  I would hope that the powers that be would take note of that and how devoted we are to this character.  We just don't feel the need to go everywhere on the boards and bash the other characters in order to make ourselves heard.

Yup.  No other character bashing. I'll leave that to others. I'll just say "BioWare, please, we want you to follow through on the sadness of this:"

edit:  Heh. In looking back at that, it looks like Shepard went all Shakespeare on Kaidan and was like, "Peace, I'll stop your mouth."

Awww...look at Kaidan in that second pic.  His forehead wrinkles are all smoothed out, his eyes are closed, and he just looks peaceful and happy.  Too bad Shepard didn't have an option to help him continue on that path of feeling relieved to see her.

It was Chris Priestly during the live webcast of Bioware's Super Bowl party, this past January.  I don't know where to find it, but it's probably on YouTube somewhere.  Even though he's not a writer or producer, it's disheartening that the Community Coordinator, who I assume read the old boards, thought that way.

Well!  That settles it, then.  If nobody likes Kaidan, then I guess I'll be taking him and going home.

Because the 2150 page support thread - along with the fic,  the art, the vids, and the speculation - it's all a complexly fabricated lie:o

I can't help but think at least ONE of the devs reads these forums. I think they will put more vs in. If not, it will be contrary to their entire reputation. I wish we didn't have to worry.

I like to think so, but they might simply think we're morons for liking something they shelved because it "wasn't interesting enough."   I've seen some pretty harsh comments from creatorly people about what consumers are supposed to like and not like; not BioWare folks thus far, but I am jaded...

Depending on when the dev would of popped in, I wouldn't be surprised if they just shook their head and flew away from the thread. It gets very heated in here at times and gets not friendly.
Whatever will happen will happen. Nobody is going to be fully satisfied no matter what. It's how the world rolls. Speaking of, that new DA II Trailer was smexy. Hawke was looking rather good in it, looked much younger than what his player model in game looked like. Flemeth was workin' it too.

I couldn't help myself.  I had to write something to someone at BioWare.  Mr. Priestly was quoted, so I contacted him.  I'll post my message on KAAS.

this - awesome!

Well, if that "no one likes kaidan" was said live, maybe it was just a slip and not very well thought out. this is me hoping anyhow. so maybe 2150+ plus pages will go to counteract that.

and @ Batteries - you bring up a good point. while i don't think everyone has to be completely happy and joyful all the time on this thread (horizon sort of rules that out, unfortunately), i think your point is well taken that so long as we remain, well, civil, i suppose, in our support of kaidan, that will take us a long way. my 2 cents, anyhow.

Wait! What? Which dev said nobody likes Kaidan?
