My bromance Shep is a soldier and you're right; it's a good contrast.

I just finished my Insanity save as an Engineer (I know it took me long enough) and while at the Citadel, my brother mentioned how I always bring Kaidan and Wrex with me when I'm femShep.

I thought about and realized that, well, those are probably my two favorite male characters in the squad. They always have my back with their biotics and I don't have to worry about constantly checking to see if they need medi-gel. Plus, they are awesome. 'Nuff said. I always have them "checking my six".

I know some people liked the Kaidan and Garrus pair from reading fanfics and other comments but what about the other people? Kay?

Kaidan and Ashley are my dream team.  Kaidan and Wrex are a close second.  Liara after that.  Tali and Garrus after that.  I don't think I ever not bring Kaidan.

Gameplay wise, Kaidan compliments the soldier skillset nicely.  He can open crates and throw people and we don't have to bother with it.  ^_^

Alright ladies (and dudes, I know you're out there)...
Perhaps this has been discussed here before.  I'd go to the ME Movie post, but all I care to post about is Kaidan (and the boards' search feature is not as good as it could be).  I saw this guy: Ian Anthony Dale in an ad for "The Event" TV series and I personally think he HAS to play Kaidan in the movie.  Anyone else?

I'd post his picture, but I don't know that imdb will allow that sort of thing and I my work blocks us from photobucket & flickr. Posted Image

Anyone have any better choices?

I just finished my insanity play through. Kaidan and Liara were tossing people off their feet and sending them floating off the Citadel Tower. It was great.

I still like Mark Ruffalo.

He's got the right look, he has an adorable voice, and he'll be buffing up to play the Hulk in the new Avengers movie.

XD

This is where I think it would pay to have a biotic Shepard, but I definitely agree.  XD

He could do it I think! He's a little bony, but it could work for the movie version, none of the actors are going to look EXACTLY like the game. I've always thought of Kaidan as mixed with Asian/Mediterranean.

I'd love to see a fellow mixed blood play the role, but only if they look the part.

EDIT: I think Mark Ruffalo could play him too, but he's a little to old now for the part in my opinion.

I'm the same as Fort. I much preferred ME1. The gameplay was fine as far as I'm concerned and the story was so much better. It sucked me in totally which is why I've played ME1 so many times and continue to play it. Apart from the fact that I keep making Shepards with the intention of not romancing Kaidan and just can't do it, which is why my teens freak when they see the number of Shepards I have to import into ME2, lol

with the exception of the bringing down the sky mission, i feel pretty settled on all the choices i made in me1 and i don't like playing maleshep. so playing me1 - which i've done like 7 times - means playing it the same way (Again with the exception of the batarians, where i have gone both ways)

in me2, though, i *really* have a hard time with several of the decisions so... i feel the need to try different choices. yeah. i love both games. i just get sick of the mako.

Everything else aside: I didn't like the sluggish combat in ME2, and I enjoy the Mako exploration (I'm almost positive there's still stuff I have left to find).

And then there's Kaidan.  He's a lot more fun in ME1.  ^_^

huh. i may be one of the few kaidan fans then that actually prefers me2 on the whole - kaidan's role completely aside, obviously. though they really are so different it's hard to compare, especially storywise. but yeah, i do like me2 better. it's...colder, somehow, but better handling. me1 is warmer? but awkward play style. my opinion, however. like i said, i think that's the minority for kaidan fans.

I don't dislike ME2 but it doesn't rank in my top 5 favourite games like ME1 does, although it probably ranks in my top 10. And its not even about Kaidan really. I just felt more immersed in the story of ME1. ME2 feels too choppy storywise to me and I don't feel as in control of my Shepard, she feels less like the character I created in my head. And I thought the writing was better in ME1. Thats my opinion anyway, lol

I think it's a matter of personal preference. I'm not good with teasing out the subjective reasons why and why not things appeal to me. All I know is, I lost myself in ME1 and ME2 lost me about halfway (after the "shiny new game" appeal wore off and the critical thinking started settling back in).

As for Kaidan, well... I presumed he was gonna die for emotional impact. It was one of the few things I was pleasantly surprised about when he didn't (as far as I know - if he went and got killed/killed himself after Horizon and thus why I can't find him and this is revealed in a DLC letter from Anderson I have to pay $4 for, I will be very displeased).

No, I guarantee that Kaidan is alive until ME3. The devs have said that the ME1 LIs were being saved for ME3, though we don't know to what end.

well, i have no intent to diss me1. i love it. i just also have come to enjoy me2 a ton as well. what is missing is shep's more human moments and squaddie banter imo. and shep got all epic in me2, which is sort of interesting, but sort of hard on her.

it is odd to me that, for example, in tali's loyalty mission, you can talk with all these people before the trial, after the trial, do all this persuasion and stuff with the quarians, etc., but tali never has a single thing to say about the fact that garrus is around, joker is around, never asks about your LI (kaidan tie-in). that stuff is weird. it does sort of put up big red flags on the things that got left out.

anyhoo... to console myself for lack of squaddie banter and kaidan, there is fanfic. speaking of which (shameless plug or neat segway, take your pick): sentimental moments and steve mcqueen

It's hard to compare ME1 to ME2. I love them both but for different reasons. ME1 had Kaidan and the whole storyline was more emotional for me. I still cry every time I come walking out of the rubble with a smirk on my face. I did like the gameplay and graphics of ME2 better but a lot of the characters I just didn't trust....and of course, no quality time with Kaidan grrrr. Hopefully ME3 combines all of the things I like from each and Kaidan by my side always kkthx :)

@sage - i do not think you're dissing anything. you're not alone. i appreciate that people on this thread have varying opinions. otherwise, it would be boring.
