If any of you have a way to record these conversation variations (including all renegade and paragon and mission order changes) it'd be awesome.

Just a thought XD

Is Virmire the only dialogue fork for Kaidan or are there more? (Not only in regards to "You're hard to step away from", but generally).
I don't remember any other lines I haven't been able to hear again, but you dedicated Kaidan fans clearly know Kaidan's dialogue much better than me 2-month-newbie and I'm intrigued now to learn if there's a recommended order for doing the missions (in regards to Kaidan).

[edit]

And again I've been typing to slowly.

fortunesque, I agree. Having an overview would be great.

@ Jade:
Absolutely, Kaidan is all the romance my (female) Shepards need.

There's a massive fork if you renegade him. To do that, you disagree with him about aliens and you have to pass a charm/intimidate check. I believe you need it half full; otherwise, if you disagree with him and don't drop it, you end up breaking up.

Which is why I liked him since he stuck to his morals.

But holy crap shep comes off like a KKK recruiter in some of the renegade dialouge.

One reason I really liked him in ME1 was his whole adult table line, really showed some depth there.

I like the idea behind the renegading but not some of the lines. It's very easy to separate xenophobia from the distrust of the Council but there isn't the option to do so.

Seriously though I dont understand why Kaidan just stood there for so long.

Rascist Shepard is Rascist is just flashing everywhere there.

It's only one or two lines out of the convo that are racist. The rest makes sense to me, especially the part about the Council burying their heads in the sand.

Been a while but the line:
Turians =imperialists, Asari and Salarians= manipulators,
Just is very nasty to me, besides outside of Spetznas Shepard I dont play Renegade Shep.

That was one line out of the whole conversation. The main point about it was against how the Council has handled stuff.

Like I said, its been a real long time since I played it.
Mainly I agree with Kaidan, but do occasionaly smack the council.

I, like Fort, greatly enjoy the idea of a non-xenophobic anti-politician renegade Shepard. And Kaidan. The dialogue for renegading him is a bit much, but pretty easy to spin. (Especially if you're RP-ing the game, as you have to spin it all anyways to go along with the story in your head. Or is that just me?)

There's a line that I got in my previous 3 plays prior the second or third conversation where if you have had more than conversation with Liara he will talk about a below deck rumor and wondering if his reception was off--or something like that.  The 4th time I played I didn't get Liara until after Ferros and didn't get the line because by the time I got to the point that the Liara romance usually started, I already must have had Kaidan "locked in" and Liara aknowleged that he and I had something going on.  So no confrontation scene that playthrough.  I also got a different starting line of dialogue that time through for that conversation since the "jealousy" line of dialogue was cut.

Oh yeah. I do the same thing... I mean... my fic twists the story around all the time and it's how it happened in my head :pinched:

I recently started a new ME1, still in the Citadel, just became a Spectre. I can do a dialogue variation, since I was just planning to play through as fast as I could (want a "save the council," ending).  I was also going to kill Kaidan on Virmire, but it's easy to do a save beforehand and get two different endings for the game.

My plan was to go: Feros--Noveria--Virmire--Therum.

I'm getting ready for 4th year University, so I can't guarantee how fast I can get all the dialogue variations, since it took me 20 hours the first run of rushing through ME1.  And my siblings will need to be away from the house since it's an M game and I don't think they should see me shooting aliens and romancing AIs in video games.  But I'll do my best.  I'll post those variations on a post in KAAS, so people can get the Kaidan dialogue and decide how they want their characters to go.

Oh, that would be amazing! Though the most variations happen with femShep... in particular the renegading lines. But mShep lines would be very interesting too since a lot of the ladies don't play one. (I have one... but many others don't)

Damn, I was hoping to edit my post before anybody replied. :P
I forgot to mention: I can't do video recordings (I have an Xbox), nor an adequate video camera, so I will type out the dialogue. Furthermore, I might also renegade Kaidan.  I hope this is alright with people.
I also have an M Shep, and the dialogue variation has been interesting with him (although it's been a while since I've played as Tobias Shepard, and he's trying to get some from Ashley...guess who the VS will be). I might do another MShep, one that saves Kaidan.

Even a transcript is great :)

You can't renegade him if you're male. Only femSheps can do it.

I'm doing a FemShep playthrough.

First post of banter and dialogue on KAAS. Not much there, as I've begun the game.

Anybody else replaying, who could send me/post the Normandy/Eden Prime stuff?

That would be cool, Brodyaha.

And I plan on doing an MShep. Gonna see if I can backward recreated that Kaidan-esque one that they have the code for ME2. Likely will romance Liara. Can't kill Kaidan. And since Ashley and Kaidan basically have the same role in ME2, Liara would be something different.

Hmmm...perhaps that Shep would be the cousin that Kaidan mentions in me1.

i must admit, that bothers me. it makes it seem like kaidan is being influenced by hormone points rather than by some latent part of his cautious personality that shep brings out.

interesting thought though. if maleshep could renegade kaidan, do you think kaidan would be more liked by guys? or would it just be part of the more maleshep/kaidan dialog would have been good regardless?

I actually have already started this.

Well a transcript, not video.

I've written down the dialogue. Basically started because wanting to RP more I wanted to know exactly what Shep was going to say not the paraphrase and then started recording the different responses by NPCs.

I'm a nerd. It's a LONG word file. I wasn't sure if I would post or share since I'm sure there are multiple copyright restrictions. I've thought about wiki. Especially under the Kaidan specific dialogue. Dunno.

I don't think it's like that. He respects and admires Shepard and listens carefully to what she has to say. Since she presents her point thoroughly (charm/intimidate), he can see where she's coming from and thinks on it. From there, his dialog changes to reflect that he's seen Shepard's point and come to agree with her.

In all honestly, here should have been the option to do that with an mShep, like hardening/softening (rofl) characters in DAO. If he were renegadeable, I bet a few of the guys would have liked him more as a common complaint is that he's very softspoken. Making him renegade really turns him feisty and I think some of the guys would have liked that.

If you shared it, you could put a disclaimer on it and say who the work belongs to etc. Generally they'll stay off your back if you do that.

@ fort: to clarify, i wasn't saying i didn't like that you can renegade kaidan. i don't choose to do so and i prefer him paragon, but i like that it is an option. it's cool that with shep, you can convince the team to see things your way and yet they stay very much their own people - it's a strength of the ME writing that this is possible.

i was just saying (in agreement with what you said secondly) that it's lame that only femshep can renegade kaidan. it gives the impression that he will only listen to an argument like that from a hot woman OR that somehow half the game is missing. anyhow, it's silly and i also think a renegaded kaidan would have made for a good renegade maleshep bromance.

either way, paragon or renegade, i miss squaddie kaidan
