If you play on pc, there's a way to put the lines of his face and his scars on. But I'm on Xbox.

You have to add eyebrows, I put a chin scar on him since there's not cleft chin
I gave him a short beard--to hide some lack of facial texture (I already thought about that and Shenzi's suggestion convinced me)
I think that his cheeks need to be a little less gaunt, too. But I didn't feel like messing with it too much.
One thing I did notice in the elevator on the Presidium, Kaidan has a bigger build than Sheploo. A bit thicker, more muscular. Again, yum.
When someone posted the Kaidan face code + Kadian face texture I used it to see approximately what Kaidan would look like with a beard since I gave him one for the first few chapters of my fic. The toon with the beard actually looks more like Kaidan than without because the Jaw isn't quite right and there isn't a cleft chin in the character creator.

I only showed it to a few people in PMs because most people didn't take well to the idea of it in the fic.
I also tried it with Sheploo hair and the result was fairly horrific.
