It's why I usually stay only in this thread. I see too much Kaidan hate in all kinds of places and it's really tiring.

You mean basement dwelling, MW2 Playing tweens who have only the most teneous hold on their life, and claim to be TEH MAN? Right?

I cant stand hate on my faves, but I just leave the haters and get back to playing calms me down.

I like most every companion in both DA and ME for what they are, so I usually see one or another bashed on plenty of sites if I lurk about enough. Figure as a whole it doesn't really matter since I still like that character, apart from when it does affect extra goodies. There was a Leliana DLC, but we aren't going to see an Alistair or a Zevran one(or anything else for that matter, since apparently 'Witch Hunt' is the last DA DLC.)

Regardless, it's why I generally stay here and don't mention who I don't like because I know that others don't feel the same way.

I liked Kaiden and most all the ME characters. I think sometimes though, people tend to dislike the love-interest they won't get for their character, so a lot of Kaiden-hate that I see stems from the "Ashley/Liara" love. It's okay to love one over the other but outright hating a character is pretty lame. Especially since you can choose not to use that character or even talk to him/her. I personally have no great fondness for Liara but I don't go around bashing her either. I just don't use her when I play.



I'm still hoping to see some more Kaiden action in ME3.



Is it just me, or is there an overwhelming dislike from the guys over the female's love-interest options in Bioware games? It's just something I've noticed from KOTOR and onward...

I think that the "Kindergamer" (I love that description) demographic doesn't understand what women really look for.  Therefore they can't appreciate the male characters that have depth and sensitivity.
If they aren't a heartless b.a. that character couldn't possibly be cool enough for their taste.  *rolls eyes*

This is why I tend to like ME1 better than ME2.  The gameplay itself in ME2 I like much better.  But Kaidan is so good to look at.  Sometimes I'm in a battle and then get distracted.  "Hey look!  Kaidan's got the biotics going!   Crud!   I'm shot."

I don't know and honestly I don't even care why they dislike certain characters enough to bash them and the people liking them. There's something called common courtesy.



This kind of behaviour is tiring and immature.

I get the impression those are probably the boys(I refuse to call any of them men, over 18 or no) who wonder why women like those men but not like them.

Can't criticize.  I have Starkiller run around shirtless in The Force Unleashed.
Wish we could have that option with Kaidan.

So not you. Thankfully, BioWare continues to write LIs for females and so continues to retain those fans. They get that girls *are* gaming, even if many boys do not. 

And randomly, the other day, my male friend who introduced me to ME1 was visiting and I showed him ME2. He was like, "I am so proud to have introduced you to shooters. I feel like a proud parent at the way you took out that merc with a head shot."

so there are some guys who appreciate that women game. just not as many as i'd like

That's why I don't participate in bashing sprees. If I don't like something and it's relevant to the thread, I might say something but I rarely do so.

You guys really shouldn't pay attention to character bashing in the first place. Take our example and just be cool with them. I think we kind of handled that one particular thread (That shall not be named) full of character bashing pretty well.



And besides, Bioware did say that Kaiden/Ashley are going to have larger roles in the future, so you guys have something to look forward to...I hope.
