Hiya Bugg! *waves*
Let us know if you want more torso to strae at. We have a fairly wide selection of shirtless Kaidan pics that we can share. Posted Image

Such as this one, since we're on the top of the next page:

I like how this thread totally lets it hang out, rofl

Still not as epic as the shirtless Sheploo and Kaidan, that one should be a mural, or at least done in a butter sculpture

I have a question... I know a lot of people like to share what their favorite line Kaidan says, but what about the worst?(no, I don't mean lines on Horizon or elsewhere that make you feel sad) I'm talking more about voice actor fail in this. Poorly delivered lines.

I'd have to say, Alistair's worst delivered line was: omaigosh they just left him up dar, we gots to do somethin'!"

That "Joker's waiting for you on the bridge" line is actually from the beginning of the game.  I'm pretty sure it is exactly the same sound clip.  After Eden Prime, you talk to Kaidan.  Then if you try to talk to him again, that's what he says.  Some intonation.
I don't have a clue why they decided to put it in that scene where it clearly doesn't fit.  Not in tone.  Not in the moment.

Buggirl
Kaidan is not a whiner, he's a thoughful soul, and that my friends is totally HOT.

Yeah.  I don't know where they get whiner from.  Its set up early in the game that Kaidan has pretty bad mirgaines.  I was waiting for them to come into play.  He never complained once.  It never became an issue in the plot either--like he couldn't perform his duties due to it.  There are only a few elevator moments where he corrects assumptions that some make about the L2 implants and mentions his headaches.  That's it.
He isn't complaining when he talks about Zump Zero either.  He's using it as an illustration, probably not really completely intending to go into that much history about himself with Shepard.  But he isn't asking anything of her by sharing his story.  Not even sympathy.  He's using his experience to try to help her.
So different from the ME2 characters, no matter what the haters say.  Kaidan helps Shepard because its his duty and because its the right thing to do.  ME2 characters' loyalty has to be earned for them to perform their best for Shepard.  And they all dump their own problems at her feet for her to fix them.
Its Kaidan's maturity and the fact that he is just there for Shepard no matter what that makes him so wonderful a character.  Its frustrating that others can't see that.
//end rant

@Onxy:  Not my favorite.   Kaidan (and Shep) don't have the muscle definition and bulk that you can see of them through their ACU's.  I like the pic above better--and the towel one (where is that one?  I need to keep that link somewhere) better.

Carth. Also, "whiner" is basically another way people say that they don't like a character.

I can see it with Carth more easily, although I still don't agree with it.  Carth is more vocal, more outwardly passionate.  (Not that Kaidan isn't passionate.  Just more reserved.  Just to clarify)  But I like that about Carth's character--that I can fight with him until he spills what he has to say.  Its fun.

I got tired of Carth's trust issues. I don't think he whines (because really, the PC is being a bit nosy) but I wish that I didn't have to talk about his trust issues so much in the early conversations.

There's an appaling and completely unjustifiable lack of it! One day I'll have to rectify that.

Ah, no prob, I we were given a nickel every time we see bashing, we could fund BW and force 'em to make VS DLC. I just mentioned it because author was like "I drew Kaiden, but he's a whiner". I understand artists want/have to draw characters they don't like too, but this seemed pointless.

Bashing is totally pointless, but I was too busy staring at his torso to notice Posted Image

Wow, Raga, then Bugg?

Hi, Bugg!

I'm not going to have to give up my, "Involved in a Stupid Love Triangle," title am I?

I've been busy as hell with my sister's wedding, so I haven't been stopping in so much.

And since Bugg asked for more torsos....

Speaking of sisters, I've still never been able to decide if Kaidan has siblings or not.

In fic, a lot of people tend to give Kaidan a younger sister . . . . it's my impression that Kaidan's mom dies while he is young, though. Not sure where I get this, but it seems hinted at during this transport accident that exposed him to eezo in the womb. Or I am completely mistaken.

Anyway, if Kaidan were to have siblings, I totally see him having a little sister. I've read several portrayals of this: In Fort's Parallax, she's as distant as his parents are towards him, but in others, I've seen them have an adorable relationship. I wonder if Kaidan visited earth between ME1 and 2, and if so, did he meet his parents? Surely the crew would have had some shore leave, to recover from the Normandy crash. I hope in the V.S., or if not, ME3, we learn a little bit more of what Ash and Kaidan went through during those two years, since we really didn't get to know much about it.

Silly Horizon. =/

I can see him with a little sister or even brother, but given that both my husband and I are the oldest of our siblings, I figured that was my internal prejudice kicking in. ;)

Ha, I'm a middle child with two brothers.  Kaidan reminds me a bit of my older brother, who was given a lot of responsibility as a kid and now is kind of conservative and an overachiever.  When you get to know him, though, he's got a wicked sense of humor and is very caring.  I can totally see Kaidan as a protective older sibling, who was more concerned for his brothers and/or sisters when he was taken away to Jump Zero than himself.  Then when he got back they didn't know each other anymore, and couldn't relate.

I really wish we could get more info on his background.  It's not "unmanly" for a guy to talk about his family!

Guess I'm not the only one who thought he was a first born.  He just doesn't fit the "middle child" stereotype, nor the youngest child's steroetype, either.  He's either an oldest or a solo.

Actually, Kaidan's been growing on me and it's literally been a last week or so thing.  A) I just finished an ME1 playthrough and something just clicked for some reason and I didn't even romance him.  Him and my Shep were just friends, but I dunno, something just worked there.  B) I went on a huge rant about subtext and how people all too often judge characters by what they see on the surface or hold them personably responsible for unfortunate gameplay mechanics, and then I did a double-take as I thought about that.  I was like, "um, me with Kaidan much?"  He's oozing subtext.  If you spend more than half a second thinking about him there are multiple really interesting things about him I just flat out never noticed.  Like that thing he has for asari.  I really never caught that before.  I noticed but it never "sank in."  Or that thing about him liking heroes I observed a few pages back.  I dunno.  I need to dissect him some more, but so far so good.  I haven't done a serious Kaidan romance run since before ME2 came out.  I need to do that.

I highly recommend it, Raga.   There's a reason I spent every Saturday and Sunday (minus a few Guild Wars raids) romancing the guy for the last three years.  He's really subtly written.

This.  "Whiny" as a character description for a squaddie is a dead giveaway that the person saying it has nothing worthwhile to add to character analysis.  Other such words include but are not limited to "wuss" and all it's synonyms, "psychopath" and it's ilk, and any time a person repeatedly uses the word hate and/or discusses their pleasure in killing a character or making them miserable.  "Boring" is on a slippery slope as well.  This one is a little more applicable as it at least describes a personal reaction that isn't projected onto the character to make it sound like a universal truth.  All of that usually just signifies that a person is mixing up personal opinion of the character and actual quality of the character.  Those are two very different things.

you know, i thought kaidan's mom was out of the picture too. and since i dislike the line "I think I've got snow in my boots" so much, i always avoided talking to him on noveria. seriously, it's like woody from toy story "thar's a snake in my boot!" so k yeah, that's my least favorite kaidan line.
