You're right, sagequeen. I was surprised at how tired and weary he looked in ME2, it's been 'only' two years after all. Shepard's death and what came after very clearly left it's mark on him.
I hope this reflected in any future DLC.
Speaking of which, here's part of a quote I gleaned from Don Moar from another thread:
So, let's keep asking and hoping!...almost anything is possible with sufficient consumer demand...

Yeah. My eyes tend to drift back to them, too. The artists just do such a great job with textures and such. There are color differences in places, and the edges of his lips on the bottom that are full but without color in them and then the scars. Makes them interesting.Quaay wrote...

And yeah. They have been two difficult years for him by the looks of him. I wonder how much the Alliance has thrown on his shoulders. In ME1 he's such a paradox--he's a mature, experienced soldier with this whole BAaT past. And he offers freely to be a shoulder to lean on for Shepard. And yet, in his first trip to the Citadel and several other times throughout the game he just seems...fresh? Innocent almost. Naive? I had a word that worked well in the past to describe what I mean, but I can't think of it now and the Thesaurus on the desk isn't helping. But you get the idea.
We see so little of him in ME2. And he does seem tired and frustrated. Of course he's likely beeing running on empty emotionally for a while due to Shepard's death. And he's on a colony where no one wants him and he's blamed for everything.
Poor darling Kaidan.

yes. i know what you mean. it is paradoxical, because on the one hand, he has all these commendations, but he's never lost a soldier under his command to hostile action. he's seen enough action that he offers good advice to williams (a big gun and a confident attitude) but he's been holding back before so presumably it couldn't have been quite as bad as eden prime. while shep, whatever background, has seen stuff as nasty or worse than eden prime. and i think kaidan has this faith in anderson and then transfers that to shep that with a good CO, he'll get through it all. but after shep dies, that security is taken away, and it's on his own with all these bad memories and this new awareness of the dangers facing the galaxy and no one to talk to about it.
acutally, i think tha'ts what ages kaidan the most and keeps him from being able to cope. he couldn't talk about shep to anyone, i imagine. i really don't see who he would talk to. so no therapy for 2 years and guilt and mourning. yeah, that's not healty.

I can't help but wonder if Kaidan's only comfort was talking to Anderson. If Anderson has Kaidan's picture on his desk, then they must be close somehow. Especially if Anderson knows his wherabouts. He'd be semi-retired from the major military aspect of the Alliance. If anything, Kaidan should be reporting to Hackett. Maybe I'm wrong about Anderson's ties in that regard.

Perhaps that's why Ashley (from what I hear) seemed to have been able to move on better than Kaidan. She had her family to talk to. And she's frank enough that I don't think she'd keep it from them.sagequeen wrote...

But Kaidan (as we were discussing just recently) doesn't seem like he currently has a close relationship with his family. Even if he did, I can't see him talking to them about his feelings for his former CO that he broke regs with.
As far as Shepard having seen more hostile action, she went through N7 training. Kaidan hasn't. So I'm sure she's seen a lot of nasty stuff that he wouldn't have (other than BAaT, of course).
Was angry from work today and finally decided to bite the bullet and play Horizon for Kara. Wasn't quite as difficult when you're already P.O'd.

And he's referred to as Ash. Wow. That's messed up!sagequeen wrote...
i still think the anderson picture is totally a case of kaidan being dead and them not fixing it for when he's alive. sort of like how in this video i was watching, shepard chooses liara over kaidan and then they talk about kaidan as a "she"
EDIT: was on twitter and saw Christina Norman wrote this:
Apparently @IGN voted mass effect 2 as the #1 xbox 360 game of all time. Thanks, I will try to make me3 better!
I couldn't help myself. I had to tweet back:
A good, satisfying romance arc for Kaidan (& Ash) would be the #1 thing I would want 4 ME3. & please no tragic sacrifice end 4 him.

I've always wondered as to why Anderson has Kaidan's picture on his desk. That sounds quite logical, it couldn''t just be for the eye candy.

Hehe, that's cool, I really hope the devs have gotten the message that there are more Kaidan lovers out there than previously thought, and if they write him well in ME3, there could be plenty of converts too.
Kaidan and Ashley fans deserve extra special treatment in ME3, especially if there is no DLC concerning them...we need a break for once!

I also replied to her about how more Kaidan in ME3 would make it better. I always feel bad because no matter what she says I always turn it into a chance to mention Kaidan. She mentions oatmeal and I mention Kaidans oatmeal tastes great. I'm a dork but at least hopefully now when she sees Kaidan's writer at work she will say "Hey, please do a good job with Kaidan so this rabid fangirl leaves me alone!"
