IDEALIST! That's the word I was trying to find earlier and just couldn't grasp. *Slaps self in head*
I think some of that optomism/idealism has been burned out of him by ME2, though. Although the idealism part is still there in his faith in the Alliance. And there are flickers of optomism still in his letter--heck, the fact that he sent the letter at all shows that there's a flicker of hope in him.
@Quaay: Hmm...never really noticed much difference in the pics. Guess I was just too preoccupied with how precariously that towel sits on his hips.

But you're probably right. The pecs might be a bit more Alistair-ish.
