And Kaidan and Jacob are completely different characters. The only similarity they have is being a biotic human male. That's about it.

@ giggles: that's intense. on my renegade femshep, she at least brought him in.
and being paragrade - ah, heck, she was headed that way. the funny thing is, that's the first renegade decision she made. mostly she just talks smack to people.
@ fort: true. this is why we love Kaidan though.

someday, in ME3:

Kaidan: You okay, commander?
Shepard: Kaidan, have you seen the loonies on this ship? I swear, I thought when I got their loyalty this would be easier.
Kaidan: You're doing a good job, commander.
Shepard: Thanks, commander.
*they look at each other, then start making out*

oh, wait, that last line doesn't follow. hmmm... re-write.

Jacob is like an anti-Kaidan.

that's because nobody likes kaidan so the developers had to do the opposite.

Thanks, Jade and FireEye!

I agree with fortunesque. It is not that Kaidan is boring, he's just not as 'flashy' as some of the other characters. He doesn't have a 'badass' intro like Thane, no unique outfit like all the squadmates in ME2 and is generally quiet and unobstrusive, trying to be helpful and give advice. People like Kaidan tend to get overlooked and get deemed boring.

And I certainly don't understand the logic of people who are saying Kaidan = Jacob. I mean, what? Didn't they ever bother to talk with either of them?

A case of people not paying attention to the characters, yea.

Thank you very much! If I stop being lazy anytime soon, I'll clean the sketch up and colour it. Posted Image

I'm playing as an MShep, so hopefully he and Jacob have a better relationship--I was trying to analyze why I didn't like him, and I think it's mainly how my FemShep talks--to me, she might as well state, "You, me, my bed, now." Maybe a bromance will change my opinion of him.

My retcon FemShep will stay far, far away and pine for Kaidan.

I'll also try and see if I like Tali better with an MShep romance (probably create a new ME1 MShep for this, because my current ME2 MShep is a womanizer, which I think Tali is too sweet to deserve.)

Or not playing MassEffect 1 in the first place and still go and open their mouths. Posted Image

That Kaidan-Jacob thread was six months old and someone necro'd it today? Boo. I think it's just that more males play, most males choose Ashley on Virmire, and after knowing that decision you have to make do you really want to get invested in a character you know you are going to lose? That's how I always was with Ashley. I never really got to know her because I didnt see the point. You lose a character and being a good friend makes the decision harder to make. It's only after coming to these forums and getting to know the ppl in the Ash thread that I really want to get to know her character.

i agree. it makes me slightly crazy when people who did not play the first game make judgments about things that happened in the first game. "lol whut? cerberus are good guys."

seriously. if you want to say they're justified, fine, but to say they are the heroes is just not playing the first game. same with ashely/kaidan. "why did she yell at me?" sheesh, play the first game, then talk.

It'll get worse when that ME2 version is released for the PS3.

I dont get the Cerberus love really.

They are the dumbest, twerpiest, evilest, and incompetent Sci-fi villians ever.

Even the Gou'ald Lords are better than them, Baal at least was.

Appearently the PS3 version is getting a striped down interactive descion thing so that players can make descions and know what is going on.

I was just making a post about Kaidan Alenko on another thread. It made me think about how I viewed him. I actually just wanted to post here that I do support Kaidan even though I left him to die. He was a good man and a good soldier. He died honorably and I hope he gets a good role in Mass Effect 3 if he's alive, or more recognition in ME 3 if he's dead. So even though I did leave the man to die I will never forget my only casualty so far in the battle against the Reapers. Kaidan is a hero no matter how you slice it. He certainly deserves a good role in Mass Effect 3.

Although he would have to get past:
Legion, Tali, Grunt, Garrus, and Samara.

Hopefully he is back in action because if they do a cameo and email I lose all respect for Bioware.

If it's true that the PS3 discs will get hours of extra content, and that BW KNOWS that PS3 owners might go, "wtf is this person yelling at me on horizon?", then there might be DLC on that disc that I hope they port to PC and Xbox.

EDIT: and reading the novels hasn't made me like Cerberus any better....besides Shepard's resurrection, Cerberus is rather incompetent.
