haha, I've been working on the group bar for several hours, and it's not even complex at all, but I need to walk away from it now and look at it later.  I tried things like putting a teeny-tiny image of Kaidan's face in there, or fancy color blocks, but I think simple is best.

I think...yeah, I need to look at it again later.

The things that I noticed
-the lighter color scheme helps the group bar stand out against the darker forum colors.
-'appreciation society' is shorter than 'squadmate for ME3', so the use of the bolder typeface has worked to draw attention
-Kaidan's name is bigger in the group one as well

Maybe since the forums have a gravelly tone, you could try a crayola cornflower color or a vivid teal? It has the potential to stick out against all the other sig bars. I find this humorous because I've totally used teal in two of my recent projects.

Thanks for the input, I gravitate towards dark colors, especially on computer screens, so it's hard for me to judge myself.

.gifs tend to make images grainy (possibly reduced image quality?) so GL!
