I agree that there are no consequences in ME2. Yes anyone can die. But no one has to. If you do everything like you are supposed, to everyone lives.
But Kaidan or Ashley HAD to die.

I still have faith that Horizon works well into the bigger tapestry. In nice romantic stories, there is usually a painful time of misunderstanding/mistrust and then later a sweet reunion. I know that I have a hard time reading Mammoth Hunters from the Clan of the Cave Bear series for this reason. And City of Ashes (mortal Instruments series) is hard at times for that same angsty reason. But things work out well for the romance characters later. New Moon, too (although Twilight is a bit passe now).
EDIT:  Also for Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion--all good romances have this "downer" time to them.

I finally have enough of my "word doodle" written that I felt comfortable to start posting it. Shepard works on her issues about her relationship with Kaidan post-ME2

http://www.fanfictio.../s/6283627/1/RR

thanks to Sia for agreeing to beta it for me.

Just finished an ME2 playthrough last night. Okay, so no Ilos night, but ah! Shepard looks so SAD looking at the picture. At least I thought she did. Could have used some teary eyes though. Anyhow, once again made me want ME3. So epic! I love it! The musical score alone is worth the price of admission. Now all ready for LotSB and a VS DLC (pretty please?)

Completely off-topic... but I have to say the sigs for the manshep thread are great.  They are "Sheploo/Manshep has balls of steel".  However when the OP originaly made it the sig used the wrong spelling for steel and instead it read "Sheploo/Manshep has balls of steal".  So basically Sheploo likes to steal peoples balls...

A little montage while looking at the picture would have been nice.  Ah well.

It's an older one that hasn't been around in a while.

You know which one I miss? The booty peeking out of the sheets Kaidan.

I finally managed to somehow connect to Xbox Live, it's making an update as I speak.
Now I can finally get the DLC many are talking about!
Yay, 2200 pages, I sure hope the devs pay attention to this!

EDIT: welcome, WhisperingCity.

this is the reason me1 will always be the dark act for me.  in me2 there were no repercussions.

as the "least romanced character", kaidan has quite the devoted following.

Hi everybody, I'm new here and came to share the Kaidan love and say a few words about Horizon.

I actually thought that the Horizon scene was well-done, it made me go through stages of happiness, pain, anger, acceptance, and "awwwww!!!" when I got Kaidan's email. The only thing I didn't like was my Shepard's apparant lack of emotion during the whole thing. But seeing as you guys have managed to get 2000+ pages, you've probably already talked about this...

So.....hi!

And sure we've talked about it, but that doesn't mean we aren't happy to go again.  Posted Image
I think Kaidan's part of Horizon was well done.  I feel the same that its Shepard's lack of anything useful to say that I have the real problem with.  It just isn't how I haven't reacted at all.  I don't buy for my own RP that she doesn't say anything because of the Cerberus agents with her.  I take Garrus and Kasumi with me.  No way I'm taking Cerberus agents with me to save Kaidan on Horizon!  Garrus wouldn't say anything about it and Kasumi owes me for letting her keep her memories of her lost love.  She'd better allow me mine.
And I loved the e-mail.  Its so Kaidan.  So very in character.

@ Fort:  what pic is this you're talking about?  Sounds like one I'd like to see.

I agree. It reminded me of older, happier ME1 days.

Jho deleted it because it didn't match her standards that she holds herself to. While I totally understand this (I'm an artist too and I scrap stuff that other people think is good) I miss the pic. :?

And we have another new poster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is awesome :wizard:

Welcome bananagirl! And whisperingCity! :) We love new people here!

I've returned from a mini-vacation, and spent the last few days catching up on all that I missed. Man, was it a lot! I wasn't expecting to see us hit 2200 by the time I got back, haha. The kaidan love cannot be halted. Nor should it be :)

I'm working on a Kaidan fanart piece that I hope to post after PAX this weekend :D Too bad there isn't a Mass Effect panel from Bioware :-/. Maybe next year? I was debating the piece I'm working on, but Kassy persuaded me! Like it really took a lot of persuasion, haha.

I recently went through and redid the Horizon dialogue with Kaidan. It made me sad, frustrated, and love-sick. While I think Kaidan's reaction is a bit over the top with betrayal and bitter accusations, I think Shepard's lack of response is more egregious. I want more dialogue options for a romanced Kaidan, where you can desperately try to explain your position. I also wanted to write him back. Like in Alpha Protocol, you could email back certain people and set a tone for the message (with previews) -- that was awesome! I thought for sure when I first heard about a messaging system in ME2 that there'd be some sort of reply implementation. Apparently not <_<

Now I'm just waiting for some sort of VS DLC to come out. Please Bioware?

You know how BioWare puts out patches to fix things with the gameplay?
I'd like a Shepard conversation patch for Horizon.
I agree with how the storyline went--I have more respect for Kaid and Ash for not joining up with me--but I do think that Shepard "derped."
Where is that term from, anyway?

I don't think Kaidan and Ashley's reactions to Shepard on Horizon are all that bad, actually. I know I felt horrified when I first realized that Shepard was really and truly going to be working with Cerberus in ME2. I can't imagine what a betrayal that must seem like to Kaidan/Ashley after all they went through in ME1. Not to mention the old "Shepard is back from the dead" thing. That's a huge pill to swallow, and to see an apparently resurrected Shepard in the company of Cerberus lapdogs like Miranda and Jacob, my first thought would be "doppelgänger". I'm surprised the exchange wasn't more acrimonious, frankly, especially between Ashley and Shepard.
