I'm with you Jade, though I have my theories as to why Garrus is not there for Shep. Sidonis mostly. It is probably totally in my own head, but...yeah. Am trying to write it atm, but not getting anywhere with that.
Tali, I do love her, but I take her as a little...um...ditzy? Also, she just lost her dad. So yeah. Remember Kaidan and Ashley had dealt with their issues mostly, so they are in a place to help. Shep is on a ship of nut cases with Kelly as the counselor. My hubby tells me Kelly is not so bad, but I really have the hardest time liking her. He tells me I'm being a kindergamer about her and treating her as mean as guys treat kaidan, but i'm not buying it. i still don't trust her.
oooh! and by the way, did you ever notice that JUST before the crew gets taken, she leaves her post at the CIC? only time in the game. so weird. i wonder why she does that? hmmm...
it's all a PLOT!
If you manage to sprint Joker out there fast enough you see someone with red hair being dragged into the elevator. I felt like waving. I don't have anything against her... she just reminds me of a sorority sister I avoided like the plague. For all 3.5 years.
Anyway... Horizon... and the ME2 crew... Honestly, I think it's just bad writing.
Jacob of all people asks femShep how she's doing and it's
convo #2 of the romance. He's the
only one to do so. It's more in character for Garrus or Thane... why JACOB? You get too touchy feely with Jacob and he ends the romance and tells you to go talk to Garrus. But he's allowed to ask Shep personal questions? (Which is why him asking seems out of character to me.) Even then, it's still not specifically about Horizon or Kaidan.
Now... Garrus I can understand since his dialogues are a balancing act. You can NOT recruit him in ME1, after all, and while you can't get the dialgue about Ilos and begin his romance in that case, it's still too many different conversations -- after all, if you didn't recruit him, he'd have no clue about Kaidan. Tali's.... there's no excuse. She's an alien, but she's still a chick. While she's offering to share suits with femshep, why's she not asking about the last one FemShep shared suits with... to run with a metaphor. Unless she was that wrapped up in the drive core that she was oblivious to EVERYTHING?
I guess I don't blame the characters for the lack of dialogue about certain things. But then... I'm a writer. If my characters don't say something they should, it's my fault. And on Horizon, I take the view that Shep's lame-ass dialogue was to protect Kaidan. But I also take the view that it took two people to screw up there. It wasn't just Shep's fault and it wasn't just Kaidan's.
