Hi guys! I actually had to do work at work today, hence no Crimson posts until now (but no bad Paint jobs either). Loads of really interesting speculation going on today, I see! Forgive me for any threadmancy!

1.) Re: end boss Reaper baby: I ended up taking him down with my mad pistol shooting skillz. That fight was nowhere near taking down any of the Praetorians.

6.) Re: Jho's screen cap of Kaidan's hair: I am so surprised! It never looked curly to me in game, though I liked the idea. Colour me surprised! Aww, he looks rather like Casavir of NWN2 fame in that pic (rather similar characters, too, in a way). Also:

8.) About Kaidan's message and the "night before Ilos" message...I really don't know what that meant. In my world, the Normandy crew got wrapped up in victory celebrations for the first few days after the victory at the Citadel, but eventually Shep and Kaidan were able to spend a little more time together. Possibly some initial angsting (because I sure do love angst sometimes) about "oh, no, we actually survived! did he/she really mean what they said, or was it just a last minute thing?!", but they were able to come to some sort of relationship resolution, even though bureaucratic stuff/dealing with the Normandy's repairs were very time consuming. I can see them as having spent some time together, just the two of them, at a little apartment somewhere, and then having to go back to the Normandy into professional mode afterwards (maybe enjoying a few stolen kisses, but not having very much time to themselves at all).

I understand that BW probably wanted to keep the options open to interpretation (YMMV and all that) , but it just seems really strange to have this beautiful relationship coming to a high point, and then after the victory, putting it all completely on hold. Especially since Shep and Kaidan are both very much aware that the Reaper threat is not nearly defeated yet. Carpe diem, and all that.

So, new question: 8.) do you think that Kaidan would have spent the night with Shep when he did if it hadn't been for the uncertainity regarding the outcome of the Ilos mission? I've thought about this, but haven't really come up with a 100% satisfactory response. I feel inclined to say "no" and that he might have made a confession of serious interest instead, if it hadn't been for the whole "we could be dead in a few hours" thing...But again, I'm somewhat conflicted on the matter.

If Ilos hadn't happened and they hadn't committed mutiny, I think he would have waited.



"I'm glad you'll be here when it's over, Shepard. I'm looking forward to some shore leave."



He probably had every intention of not jeopardizing the mission by having relations with her until afterward, but when the seriousness of the situation came up, he felt that he had to see her when he could.



His intent probably wasn't to have sex with her though; Shepard initiates that. But it does seem that he wanted to tell her how much he cared about her.

No I don't think he would have spent the night with Shep if there hadn't been the possibility that they both could have died when facing down Saren. I do think it would have eventually happened when they took shore leave though.



I think Kaidan approaching Shep that night and being open to the possibility of spending the night with her had as much to do with the fact that he had already broken the rules by being a part of the stealing of the Normandy as did to do with the fact that they might die. I'm not sure if he would have approached her if the Alliance had sanctioned the mission to Ilos and no rules had been broken. Breaking the rules seems to be difficult for him.

I'm not sure; I think his love for her is genuine, but I also think that the uncertainty-not only of Ilos but of the whole situtation- pushed him to move more quickly than he usually would. The stakes were VERY high and he couldn't live with the idea that one or both of them would die without knowing the truth.

Also.. I'm writing a fanfic, and given that none of my friends know anything about Mass Effect, and that you guys/girls are all incredibly awesome.... and that many of you are quite talented writers.... I need a couple people to read/edit it (this fic) before I post it. Any volunteers? It's a Shenko set immediately (!) after the defeat of Saren and hitting the beginning of the interim between the games.

Personally, I doubt it, for a couple reasons.  First, he's a career soldier, so he's a lot less likely to disregard fraternization regulations than, say, Liara or Ash.  Second, as a Biotic (and given his experiences at brain camp), he places a lot of emphasis on restraint, especially as evidenced in an elevator conversation with Garrus on Citadel.  Finally, as Shep is perceptive enough to point out to Ashley, Kaiden is who you go to when you want an opinion "from the head."

Oh s*** my mind just hit the gutter.

Anyways, he's certainly a bit of a teddybear, but there's a lot more to his persona than that.  I think that without the "we're all gonna die" facator to disinhibit him (imminent danger is a hell of an aphrodisiac), he'd have left it at a confession of interest rather than a sexual encounter.

Just my projection-laden opinion, of course.
