I don't think it's unreasonable or childish to complain if the VS doesn't get dlc and Liara does. Fairness is fairness.

Personally, I'm avoiding LotSB info because quite frankly I don't feel like giving any money to BW right now. They have to earn my purchases; nothing with them is an automatic buy anymore for me.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I've decided that I'm definitely not buying DA2 until I find out Kaidan's status in ME3.  I know there are those who would think it's a silly form of protest, but it's really just knowing personally, that I'll feel better about my purchase and won't have regret down the road if I just wait.

I had actually been excited for the Liara DLC, and redid a play through of ME1 with a Liara romance, just to import it to ME2 for this DLC, but then I worried that it would unlock the Paramour achievement.  I really WANT to be counted as someone who has remained faithful, I know statistically, I'm part of a tiny group, but I want Bioware to know that we do exist.  So while I'm still most likely buying LotSB,  I don't think I'll be running it with a romance character.

I'm going to get the DLC...I like Liara ...but I rather would want to see Kaidan again ...I'm happy for the Liara fans , really...But I also I envy them...because the don't need to wait anymore...*sighs*...

It bites me (can you say this in english...I'm not sure but I'm to lazy to check atm) that we know nothing about the VS yet...Without all the ff it would drive me crazy...

I was never too excited about the Liara DLC, mostly because I never found her that interesting. (Though I'll probably get it because I need my ME fix).

I really hope we have a VS DLC, and sometimes, I hope we don't because that would mean that Kaidan/Ashley would turn into a really big/important plot for ME3.

And actually, what happens when you see Liara on Ilium and you had a romance with her in ME1? Is her reaction as bad as Kaidan/Ashley's? Obviously not, considering she's the one who gave the body to Cerberus... I'm curious though.

She gives Shepard a passionate kiss in front of everyone but there is no verbal acknowledgement of the romance.

Yeah.  I just love double standards about "tolerance."  Posted Image

@Elysis:  I think the thing I find interesting with Liara is the mind meld thing.  I've always loved that idea.  Like with Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade.  They have this connection into each other's minds and emotions that regular mortals can't achieve or quite understand.  My MShepard is quite interested in that idea and will choose her over Ash (sorry Ash Posted Image ).
I have wondered before (and might work this into my story at some point) if Kaidan was ever a bit envious about Liara having tresspassed into femShep's mind--of them having been that intimate mentally when he can never have that with her or even really comprehend it.

How about a new pic to celebrate page 2222?

Actually, I preferred getting yelled at.  Liara doesn't say a thing about a relationship.  My poor Liara-Shep was even more confused than my Kaidan-Shep, and didn't even get the promise of a potential maybe.  There's nothing.  I assume the DLC will straighten that out, but I was much more disappointed w/Liara's cameo than Kaidan's.  It's a lot less traumatic, but only because it ignores the relationship rather than straining it.

This. I agree and can think of nothing intelligent to add to that comment.

Really?  Huh.  I guess I'll see when my mShep gets to that point.

Well, after the dlc comes out the Liara fans will probably be leaps and bounds ahead of the VS fans as far as romance is concerned.

Well, the Liara moment seemed like talking to the Council - like you talk to her and when you're done it's like... "Waiiiitt a minute." Nothing really happened, and I could never figure out how I got derailed into not asking the questions I wanted to ask.

Kaidan/Ashley on Horizon was so sad, but it actually forwarded the plot and the characters somehow. Liara just seemed to have changed for no reason. Again though, looking forward to the DLC to see what's up next.

I seriously hope so. Because if they are then 1) that means that BW *can* repair sidelined ME1 LIs 2) Liara fans will be fat and happy and 3) We can then point to the Liara DLC as an example of what us VS fans will pay for. seriously, if it comes down to a paying fanbase, i think the VS fans are coming out of the woodwork to say BW has a guaranteed DLC sale in ash/kaidan

I agree with all three points there, especially 3.  Every single one of us will pay if it means we can get more of Kaidan/Ash so i don't really see what's stopping them, they are only going to gain...

Maybe the number of Liara fans > VS fans? Maybe they think it won't be profitable?

They are just playing their cards.

I believe we'll have some VS action at some point before ME3. Have faith ladies!

Oh there's no doubt that there's a lot more Liara fans than VS fans. Kaidan fans are one of the smallest groups and I'd wager that Ash fans aren't too far ahead. Combined we probably still aren't a considerable number.

But if they are able to tie the VS content into something that furthers the overall plot, I think many people will buy it just for that--even if they aren't fans of the characters.
EDIT:  Or if they offer cool gear along with it-- a la Kasumi's DLC.  I wanted the dress.

I think it has more to do than the number of fans.
BioWare has made Liara into an important character--maybe it was planned from the beginning, I don't know.  But they've made her Shepard's saviour.  They've made her a rival of the Shadow Broker, who is now an important person on Illium.  They've 180'd her personality IMO.  So BioWare has created more of an intrigue for Liara. They've made her even more important with this DLC, which would probably have been done with or without fan support, because of how they've developed Liara's character.

And I can't see why a Kaidan/Ashley DLC wouldn't work.  BioWare made DLC about a rogue AI.  They make weapons and armor packs, they've introduced new characters such as Kasumi and Zaeed without knowing how fans would react to them.   There's a lot of people out there who have asked for more of Kaidan and Ashley.  It makes no sense to not develop something that fans are asking for, when they've developed stuff in the past that was essentially a gamble.

Wow, the thread has been busy this weekend.

*paranoia*

What would be the chances that an Ashley/Kaidan DLC was made, but a lot of people who didn't like the character bought it to have the "full ME2 experience", then railed against BioWare for ever having made it?  And how would this impact ME3?  <_<

If we see backlash on the forums, we be preemptive!

1)Somebody compiles all of the Kaidan photos we've seen on here, and of all the photos of Ashley on the other page (with, of course, some discretion over certain photos)
2) Also inserted is a page; all it says is, "We love Ashley and Kaidan!  Don't diminish their role in ME3 because of a few haters!
3)Somebody sends it to BioWare headquarters

/joke

I don't know how DLC criticism would influence their appearance in ME3.  K&A have already been saved from the SM in ME2 so they can appear in ME3.  Through those actions alone, BW is saying they have an important role to play in ME3.

And, as we've seen, some people haven't played ME1, but have played ME2.  So, we hope some people play ME3 before the other games--then they can't form a judgement over a Horizon cameo.
And many fans have complained about ME2 and the way it plays; BW has said they'll keep the same engine for ME3 as they did with ME2.

Maybe I'm too positive.  *shrug*

i dunno - if they did that to ash/kaidan that would suck - but it would also be silly because ash/kaidan have a lot of faithful fans and those characters were there from the beginning. heck, ash was on the box. just silly not to carry through.

personally, i am thinking they have plans - good plans - for the VS, but are playing it close to the chest. that's what i'd do if i was BW

haha I didn't even notice that until you said something. Earlier I just assumed it was Ashley.

I wonder how long after Liara's DLC we'd have to wait for a Kaidan/Ash DLC announcement. I kind of hope they don't go the same route they did with Liara's and announce it way too soon.
