Have we all joined the Kaidan/Ashley DLC group?
http://social.bioware.com/group/2859/

Ooops, didn't realize this would be top o' page.  Here, have a laugh.

Hey look!  I hadn't noticed before that this photo shows more skin texture than others tend to in ME1.  You can actually see a lot more of the fine lines around his face.

Re: Cerberus.  From the dramatic perspective, I was actually looking forward to being forced to work for the bad guys.  Keyword forced.  At no point in ME2 did I feel forced, coerced, duressed, pressed, blackmailed, convinced logically, tricked, or otherwise pushed into working for them... Shepard just skipped down the path tIM set for her.  (I couldn't even tell him off or tune him out with the same bravado I used on the Council.)

"I won't let fear compromise who I am," should have been one of the first lines to tIM.  Followed by a merry torture session and a control chip.  You want to make it dark and edgy?  Fine, whatever... but follow through, for goodness sake.  -_-

Had to quote this.

I felt so disconnected from my Shepard because of that and even though she said again and again that she isn't working for Cerberus, she in fact is. I really hope Bioware will solve this whole Cerberus dilemma soon as I'd hate to see what it would do to Shepard and Kaidan.

I hope that they change things too. You can be a stubborn jerk Shepard in ME1 and I don't see that coming out in ME2 as much as I'd like. It'd be cool to have an option to be a complete jackass to TIM like you are to the Council in ME1.

And that way, Kaidan could come along and be the head of the operation again :)

If you read the last novel "Retribution" I don't like what Anderson said about Shepard when he's thinking on ask him for help. He and everyone is assuming that Shepard is a traitor, and that is not true.

The Illusive Man and his creepy organization are destroying the life of our Shep.

I read Retribution if I remember correctly Anderson said that Shepard was off the grid. So I took it as Shepard and crew had passed through the Omega 4 relay already and no one knew where they were. Remember the Omega 4 relay is un-mapped. So there may not be a way to track them once they went through. Retribution made me dislike Cerberus even more. If you are so pro-human, then how do you justify using humans for your research. Just my thoughts on it Posted Image

I'm listening to Ascention during my commute to work.  I'm going to have to listen to Retribution next.  Its interesting seeing all of the behind-the-scenes stuff that has impact on the game--so many things that then are alluded to in the game.
I just wish it were possible for them to give you an indication of what Kaidan was doing.  :(

Gosh I'm probably the only one that saved the base (on my first playthrough) in this thread lol. Felt like the worse decision ever afterwards. I was gonna go back and replay it but i'll just see what happens in 3. If we move away from cerberus (And I hope we do) I hope i can kill TIM and take the base back! lol

And I agree with what Fortunesque said about Kaidan morals. Right now I definately wouldnt trust him, his loyalties are with the Alliance as he said. If I'm causing a problem with the Alliance I can see him going agaisnt me if ordered to.

Nah, I saved it too and wouldn't change that. I don't dislike Cerberus as much as most people on this whole site do. I have a bit more of a Jacob stance on it. I like what Cerberus stands for itself. Preserving the human race is a good thing. In fact, I'd think it'd be rather stupid not having some sort of organization like that for each species. But add in Timmy and all the bad things happen. Human dominance over every other species? NO. Bad. Bad Timmy.
But Cerb. has too many gray patches for me to outirght call it a good or evil thing. I also think Cerberus and the Alliance both need to exist to balance each other. Higher ups in the Alliance(Anderson is making me scratch my head. Hackett too.)pay Cerberus anyways and if Cerberus got destroyed/abandoned, I'm sure another group will "go rogue" or do the experiments in secret within. Maybe similar to how the Corsairs worked; if they were caught, any information would be disavowed. It never happened, just a freak "Oh my god! They're crazy! We had no choice!"

In the end I wouldn't be surprised if they never went rogue in the first place.
This is just how I see some parts of it. If I had a choice, I'd rather go solo/pirate. But you need funding. <_<

Personally I don't think Cerberus went rogue. I believe they are still apart of the Alliance but, they don't want anyone to know. As long as someone like TIM is in control, Cerberus will always be known as the bad guys who wants to dominate every species. I can understand looking out for human interest and all but sometimes they do cross the line. I am curious as to why TIM couldn't get any info on the VS. Anyone have any thoughts to that or do you think he was lying? Posted Image

on the other hand Shadow Broker also doesn't have any info on VS  ;)

Well, one thing that people have suspected is that the VS is now a Spectre (or at the very least are working directly with Anderson). That would explain things being extremely classified. I don't think the Alliance would be able to classify stuff enough that Cerberus couldn't get to it, so the Council has something to do with it.

As far as I know he never lied about the VS, just withheld information. I think, seeing as most people are assuming they are working with/under Anderson, that's where the "surprisingly well classified" line came from. Not because he's councilor(assuming) but more so because Anderson seems like he has something going on with Cerberus in LotSB. Whether he is working with them, working with them but plotting against them at the same time or was merely getting info from a contact within Cerberus. Your guess is as good as mine is as to it.
Tim apparently had a contact on Horizon too. That couldn't of been a coincidence.

EDIT

The contact was probably Lilith. That's why she was the only one who liked the VS.

Considering Shep's track record with meeting other Spectres...I'm starting to really hope Kaidan is just an Alliance liason.

But somewhere on the book, says that the illusive man (sorry for the possible spoilers :() got the collector's data (about the human reaper and all that stuff) and says that Shepard destroyed the collector's base...it seems that TIM always win <_<.
So, I just assume that the events on "Retribution" happens after the omega 4 relay, so Anderson knew that Shepard has already pass the "relay" thing.

Or I did understand it wrong? My english is very bad....so my apologies for that, well, I've been reading till the page 106 by now...

Words cannot express how much I agree with this.  If you're going to railroad,  then you have to give the player character no actual choice - not just give the *player* no choice.  Imagine how dramatic it would have been to break free of Cerberus control towards the end of the game.  As it stands, i have no idea why TIM ever imagined that my Shep wouldn't destroy the Collector base.  Seriously.

Moreover, I imagine that the scene of Wooden Shepard ™ on Horizon would have been heart-rending on an additional level if the woodenness had literally been forced (by Cerberus directly, not simply indirectly by Bioware).  Instead of a thousand Kaidan / Ashley fans crying "why are you showing no emotion?" and getting annoyed at Shep, they'd be feeling sorry for Kaidan *and* Shepard.
