So I obviously have way too much time on my hands, and I edited up a new Launcher for the PC version of ME2, featuring Kaidan:

The files and instructions are here, it's very simple to install, and if anyone has any questions, let me know. I'm making a Liara version next, and probably an Ashley version after that.

They probably didn't have time to have sex again after Ilos but that doesn't mean the relationship didn't continue. I mean, they were probably thrown right back onto the ship for the next assignment. That doesn't mean that they didn't have any more long talks and that doesn't mean that they didn't make plans to stay together.

Oh, I definitely think that they had some time to talk and sneak time together here and there, but I just don't think that in the wake of the attack on the Citadel and all the clean-up chaos that they would be required to help with there would have been any "shore leave" time like they had planned.

At the beginning of ME2 then they said that they were sent out a month or so after that to find the geth.  Joker isn't necessarily the most patient person.  I wouldn't take "ages" as meaning all that long.  And you know that the time for privacy on the ship would have been severely limited and risky.  I don't know if they would have had another opportunity, really.  Before Ilos was different.  They already had committed treason.  What was a little fraternization on top of that?  Now they were war heros, saviours of the Citadel.  There was a lot more for them (and by extension the Alliance) to lose by being careless.

@ Alistair:  He's very charmining in his inexperienced suit of the Warden.  He's a skilled fighter, but he's not at all afraid to be vulnerable with her.
It did get a little trying at times having to tell him what to do all of the time--especially in the relationship.  Having to take charge at the Landsmeet was rather uncomfortable as the Noble Human, but necessary to get what I wanted.  He would have been too wishy washy.

Just finished Horizon with my mShep.  MUCH easier than with femShep.  But a lot of the dialogue is still the same--even with TIM and with Kelly, but that's not a bad thing.  Perhaps TIM didn't hear the "I loved you" line and Kaidan's a bit safer if he's not thought of as more than Shepard's friend regardless of gender/type of relationship.  As mShep I was a tad more difficult with Kaidan--more frustrated with him.

You know what else I noticed?  You know how we talked about how Kaidan is a bigger man than mShep in ME1?  Having the two directly across from each other showed me that I don't think that they did use the same body model for Kaidan as for mShep.  Again, Kaidan's bigger than mShep.
Funny.  His sweet, shy courtship of femShep sort of camoflages that he's a big man.
Uh oh.  Gutter thoughts rolling in...

Urghh...That's why I really hate what BW did with the VS romance, they just ruined all our hopes to follow the relationships...
I'm still waiting that they fix the mess that they create when they forced us to work for TIM and Cerberus.
We missed a lot of time of the history between Shep and Kaidan/Ash.
They only gave us a miserable scene on Horizon, that had nothing of romantic...It's not fair, Liara's fans saw a kiss with Shep, when they encountered on ME2, we only got a miserable letter and a hug.
The more I remember this more angry I feel...<_<

And then he lost all that weight in ME2.....
Which is fine, really.  I don't want Kaidan having Jacob's physique.  IMO.

@Fort I don't think they were as rushed off their feet as they were last time. Doesnt Joker or Pressly or someone say at the beginning that there hasnt been any sign of Geth for ages? Werent they just flying around looking for them...
I think Ilos is referenced because it makes more sense to the player, than to have kaidan mention other moments together the player didn't witness. I don't think it's certain whether or not they spent more time together again. But I think they did, although what Jade said makes sense.

I agree with that as well. The night before Ilos was kind of the time they finally told each other how they felt so it was obviously an extremely pivotal moment. Who knows what happened between then and the day Shepard died.

Honestly, the whole thing happened differently in my head, but I'm always screwing with the canon. :pinched:

I'd like to think some more sexy times happened in between..... at least that is how my FF is panning out.   And I am so close to writing that part!  *runs off in a girlish giggle to continue writing*

A kiss would have been lovely but I'm glad we got a hug at least. Since Kaidan and Ash are so neutrally written on Horizon so new players wouldn't get all confused, it could have been much worse. Which would be a real accomplishment since Horizon sucks on almost all fronts. I say almost because seeing Kaidan in the generalized cutscene and out of that awful Phoenix armor, really made my day on my first playthrough. Little did I know back then, that those scenes were all I would be getting. No wonder my first playthrough took so long, I searched all corners of the verse for him before and after Horizon lol

@Sage: you didn't see it, because there's no birthmark. It's just a shape that shows up shadowed sometimes. It's symmetrical (shows up behind the left ear) and shows up in ME1 too.

@Jade5233: Kaidan has same model as mShep and other human males. The trick is to set another person higher/lower than the other. When you use a flycam, you see those kind of things :)

Actually, after seeing the kiss Liara gives Shepard on youtube, I'm glad we "only" got the hug. I think it fits the whole situation better and doesn't look nearly as awkward as Liara and Shepard trying to kiss.

Yeah, the kissing in ME2, in all the kissing scenes look kinda awkward. Which is strange because in ME1 it was all really well done. >_O

But, I'm glad it was just a hug. Otherwise, I'd have taken Kaidan and Ash for a pair of fools. They never knew for sure if Shepard was coming back, did they? But Liara was directly involved in her "resurrection."

You know, Fenris, that's what I thought, too, after seeing the ME2 romance scenes. Maybe it's the angle and the less "movie-like" feel that makes them look a bit awkward compared to ME1. Or it's the definite lack of Kaidan. :/
I agree, a kiss would've been out of place. I liked Horizon up to the hug, except Ash's god comment. You could feel the relief and disbelief that Shepard is indeed alive after seeing him/her die and the rumours spread around by TIM.

The way I've always thought about it in my head, my FemShep and Kaidan didn't have a chance to have another Ilos type night after what happened with the citadel.

As Jade said, "Oh, I definitely think that they had some time to talk and sneak time together here and there, but I just don't think that in the wake of the attack on the Citadel and all the clean-up chaos that they would be required to help with there would have been any "shore leave" time like they had planned."

I see it like that.  In ME1 they were both clearly fighting their feelings for one another at least while they were on active duty.  After the citadel battle I think that aside from a few stolen kisses here and there, they wouldn't have had much opportunity to explore the physical part of their relationship. I imagine that this must have been even more difficult to do especially after the Ilos encounter.  Sexual tension galore!    Okay, my mind is reverting to the proverbial gutter.
Have a Kaidan.

I think the lack of Kaidan has a lot to do with it, but somehow I want to blame the lighting in the loft. ¬_¬

But then, Jack has nice lights in Engineering, and her kissing still looks sooo weird. >_< Which for Jack is such a shame cuz she had awesome lips. o_O

Kaidan has nice lips too~! xD

I dunno, as much as I would like to think there was lots of sexy time, they're both professional soldiers who are used to abstaining for long periods of time, long missions in space and all that. I think the physical part of their relationship was only allowed (by them) initially because of the extreme circumstances, in the normal daily grind o see them both as being able to keep a lid on it so to speak. The need for emotional intimacy is a little different, soldiers form very close bonds when out sonic anything I see that side of their relationship flourishing, hushed converations in dark corners of the ship with at most the occasional stolen kiss *shrug* maybe I'm just a romantic.

There's a lot more sex on the frontlines that people seem to think. I've got friends in the army, my father was in the army, and my ex was in the army. Now, my friends tell me the best stories, sometimes they're kinda farfetched and obvious fabrications, but there's no doubt they actually do f*ck about quite a bit. I don't know what my father got up to, and I sure as hell don't want to know, but my ex cheated on me during his deployment, so I dunno. If they love each other, and they found time once, I reckon they can do it again. >_<

That's how I pretty much think of it too, Becca.
I always envision a strong "no touching" policy outside of groundside missions when they're suited up.

I honestly think it depends on the Shepard.  You can be a downright, unprofessional ******, and you're still the savior of the galaxy as much as if you've played a by-the-book, completely professional saint who turned your LI away at the last minute before Ilos because there will be time for you both later.  And the plethora of shades in between.

Kaidan would probably be more inclined to not take the risk, but a Shepard who is absolutely determined to have sex above all else will probably find a way.

S'why I think the, "Kaidan and/or Ashley could never be a Spectre because they're not as good as Shepard" argument doesn't work, either - they might not have something, I don't know... political that Shepard would have or the Alliance might not want another human Spectre or whatever, but Shepard can parallel either of them depending on how you choose to build her.

But then, I'm very much a fan of build-your-own characters.  I especially like seeing people push them to potential in fanwork - it makes for a great variety.  ^_^

That's very true... o_O I never write about my Sheps, though. Mostly because I don't have a main, but I'm generally more interested in the squad-members. And Joker. xD

As for them being spectres, I wouldn't mind if they were, but any spectre Shepard works with tends to wind up with a serious case of dead. So, I'm kinda hoping Kaidan/Ashley is not a spectre.

I was wondering if Kaidan was set closer to the camera.  Image IPB

For Kaidan's sanity?  Heck.  I think Kaidan would be the more cautious of the two, at least with my femSheps--that Kaidan would be the rate-limiting-factor of anything physical happening.

@FireEye:  There are femSheps that can send Kaidan away the night before Ilos?  Image IPB   How can they?  Why?...

Bringing that duress conversation back up from a couple of days ago...
Playing as mShep and just having had the Horizon experience, it was interesting talking to the Illusive Man.  I really  wanted to tell the ****** for putting my friend in danger like that--and he could have since Kaidan was just a friend and he didn't have to worry about revealing deep feelings for Kaidan like my mSheps did.
But there are no options to really be nasty with the guy.  The paragon ones are upset about the colonists, but nicey about it.  The renegade options are about going and kicking Collector butt for taking colonists.  There really are no options to tell TIM what a royal jerk he is.
I would say that is the player being under duress to work with Cerberus.

How Kaidan behaves in regards to anything physical could be relative to his relationship with Shepard, and thus by extension to how Shepard behaves. Because humans are creatures of empathy, if someone next to you feels sad, you would feel sad too. That empathy is applicable to lust too. If Shepard says yes, Kaidan seems unlikely to say no. At least, he won't be saying no for long.

So, like FireEye said, it's probably all up to your Shepard. o_O
