Wow. You guys seem like you've had this discussion before. I don't know why, but the smell of gas stations and grease remind me of Kaidan. Not in a bad way... I figure it's because he dithers about with engineery stuff...



Other than that, there's this perfume my friend wears that just smells of amazingness and I think it'd suit Kaidan very well. He won't tell me what it is though... ¬_¬

The burnt ozone thing is a commonly used description for biotic use in FF.  I don't think I actually heard them use it in Ascention, though.

And probably whatever you have a positive association with for male companionship will be what you think Kaidan smells like.
Apparently mine and Sia's are similar.

Sometimes I like just sitting back on casual in ME1 and watch him fight.  He's so awesome.

@Sage: that's a great biotic Kaidan moment. And I am totally supposed to be writing too... oops.

And I can't imagine any musky or cologne scent for Kaidan, both in terms of combat effectiveness (don't want the other side to be able to smell you in your hiding place, after all) and avoiding migraines. But I'm really sensitive to perfume/cologne scents. They pretty much all give me headaches. *shrugs* The Alenko in my head smells like an impending thunderstorm, thanks to the ozone from biotics.

I have a question for this Thread, Say Kaidan was to tell you he had been intimate with the doctor, would you find this completely out of character? or Would you be able to understand to an extent?

Personally, I find the thought of taking comfort with someone else perfectly reasonable.  Even if you're not someone who normally has casual sex, there could come a point where you need to attempt to connect with another person or go crazy. 

In theory.  My Ella Shepard might shoot him in the foot or something to make sure he was sufficiently sorry after the fact, but she'd feel bad about it once she got her temper back under control.  Because, really, she was dead.  Most people start trying to move on in a 6- 18 month time frame.  2 years is a long time to grieve, especially for such a short (though obviously intense) relationship.

@Jilly Interesting, I think part of the reason he couldnt get over it quicker is because he felt guilty, maybe he felt that if he didnt listen to her and followed her, he would have been there to save her or die in her place. First Ashley dies for him and then Shepard too (Not forgetting he killed someone needlessly when he was younger, which impacted his life). Atleast thats what I got from the guilt line in the email

@Lovestories. Well, yes. Survivor guilt would be a huge stumbling block for any ME1 LI in getting over Shepard. Part of why none of them getting over Shepard is only slightly melodramatic instead of ridiculously so.

He said it was nothing serious in the email and he says in ME1 that he doesn't take sex lightly.

So if he had sex with the doctor, it'd be seriously out of character. If they wrote it where they hooked up, I wouldn't be 'jealous' or anything; I'd be mad at the writers not paying attention to their own character.

while i do think my shep would find it understandable if he'd actually been intimate with her (which i don't get from the email at ALL), i think it would also say a lot to shep about what their relationship meant to him. i mean, if he'd moved on to *that* degree, given his comments about casual relationships, then I think she'd think him and the doctor was something she shouldn't mess with. she'd be hurt, but wish him luck and go feel hurt about it somewhere else. i mean, it has been two years for him, but it's been a few months for her. i don't think she could get over the feeling of betrayal even if she knew on a rational level it was understandable.

so yeah, it would be so OOC for kaidan as to make my shep leave him.

Nah, people do weird things when they are dealing with grief, and it wouldn't be my place to judge him for seeking comfort after Shepard's death.  Even if he had found someone to have a real long term relationship with wouldn't make me mad at him -- I'd be pissed at the writers, for sure -- I'd just have to accept that life goes on when you're dead, resurrected, and in a coma for two years.

But two more years BETTER not pass in game before I can be with Kaidan again.

Lol true. For me it felt like Ashley delt with it better than Kaidan though, Liara atleast knew about the possiblity of Shepard coming back, so its not like shes backflicking upon your return.
But even if they did fully get over it, seeing someone that was dead suddenly standing in front of you, I think would drag all your feelings back whether you could help it or not. Even if they were gone for a longer period than two years. So I can understand them wanting to get back with you.

Oh btw I agree, from the email I don't think it was anything more than a date. My opinion on if he did it pretty much matches Jilly's though.
However for me it wouldn't be ridiculously OOC. He's been through alot and no ones behaviour is completely predictable, no matter how well you believe you know them. So while his general view is not to carelessly get intimate with any and everybody, (I'm sure he still stands by that) I could understand if he did it, I wouldn't think the writers messed up.

E.g. within his character I could imagine him doing it, but it not helping matters and him regretting it

I am annoyed there's no dossiers on Kaidan. I'm sure this was discussed earlier in the week but I'm going to say it anyways!
