Well, Rachel Shepard may look like Ella, but she's not romancing Kaidan.  And I have to slog through her game to get her to ME2 for the face code.

Hmm.  I didn't have any problems not romancing him in my Liara-version of Catherine.  But I have yet to manage to not romance anyone.  So, I'm sure my romance-free-playthrough-for-Garrus that I still haven't managed will be torture.  I'm actually tempted to just roll a default ME2 Shep for that, tbh.

I don't have a Liara romance and I probably never will.  I'd roll a default Shep for it, but I REALLY hate the default choices.  Wrex is dead, after all.  And no email from Kaidan.

I had to make a mShep to do that.  I don''t think I could play as a femShep and not romance Kaidan.  What's the point?  And since I made mShep to resemble Kaidan to an extent, he's at least good to look at--especially in ME2 in that dressy suit outfit from Kasumi's DLC

And re: the different Shepards, yeah, I have to confess that as much as I love Marge Shepard, and I DO, I wanted to see Kyrie in there. The challenge with that scene, however, is massive amounts of clipping once it gets going. Akodo, I can only imagine how long it took you to get the screens that you did.

He looks surprised.  LOL.
Kyrie's coloring is similar that I can pretend its Kimbri. 
those are also some great shots as far as costume detail.  I am tempted to make the blue ACU's at some point.

@ akodo: yeah, one thing with flycam is that you do feel a little stalkerish. the cutscenes let you feel like it might BE the character, or at least you identify with them enough to ignore the camera altogether (unless it pulls a trick and goes wandering down to miranda's ass, in which case the illusion is broken a little for me). but when you're flying around hte room trying to get a good view, definitely feels like a stalker.

@ jilly: my sheps are always pale because 1, i figure in space there's no time for tanning and 2, i'm super pale and modeled kyrie after myself. she kind of became her own look, but that was where i started.

Bought LotSB and loved it. Though now I'm wishing that there would be a DLC for a Kaidan reunion.

If Shepard is female and didn't romance Kaidan in ME1, should it be possible to romance Kaidan in the VS DLC? I heard it was possible to do this with Liara in her DLC.

I didn't see that option on my playthrough of LotSB, but maybe I wasn't looking for it, either.

I actually think not romancing Kaidan until ME3 could be kind of cool storywise.  If you had a Shepard who would not have dreamed of fraternizing in ME1, and suddenly saw Kaidan in a new light in ME2, starting the romance in ME3 could be very interesting, if written well. 

My only problem would be staying away from him in ME1.  If you just turn him away the night before Ilos, the game still registers you as in a romance with him.  I don't want to have to be mean to him for a whole game and then be alone in ME2 too.  The payoff would have to be spectacular.

I think it should be. There are a lot of people who didn't know about Ash/Kaidan who didn't play ME1. Horizon is a horrible intro to those characters. And while I have tried to get many people to play the ME saga, I have a hard time recommending ME1 as a starting point for people who really are into shooters - the engine there is not as slick as ME2, sorry to say. Plus, a lot of people don't want the 50+ hours of gameplay that goes into ME1. It's like my brother - tried to get him to read harry potter and he said, "i don't want to read 7 books" i was like...but they're GOOD. "yeah, but that's a big commitment." that's the reaction i've gotten when recommending ME. i am baffled that not everyone in the world is in love with the game, though.

Avoided the forums for the week I was on vacation and until I had a chance to play through the new DLC to avoid spoilers.
 
I would make a romance free Shepard for ME3 if they implemented the option to romance Kaidan for the first time in ME3.  But that's the only reason I could play ME1 and not romance Kaidan.

Oh heck yeah!  At the point where she talks about what she does, he gets a little snippy and says something along the lines of can she just get to the point and say why she wanted to see Shepard.

I'm managing a me1 play through right now where I'm not romancing Kaidan. But then I'm also playing as a male shep. So I think that helps a bit.

OMG! Twinsies for the win! I just have purple eyes instead to bring out the purplish in the lipstick, which they effed up in ME2. We have good taste. I have pics of my Shep on my phone and I show her to ppl all the time like "Isn't she hott?" They think I'm weird. I wish I could take better quality pics...thats with my phone cam pointed at the tv =/
