Do you think Kaidan's the flowery romantic type? I get the impression he might have been holding back some poetry in ME1. I mean, I wouldn't want him to get all William Shakespeare or something, but I would like some pretty, angsty words from him in ME3 about the despair he felt over Shep's death. I'm such a drama queen.

I like it!  We already know he's a sweetheart; poetry and flowers will be next!

I dunno... he's a marine. Don't they kinda beat that out of you in basic?

Well, I always picture my Shep as being pretty tough, but I think she probably has a pretty gooey center deep down there. I liked the way she hung her head after Kaidan left on Horizon. I like the idea that they come across as tough, military types, but that there's actually this core of softness to the two of them. I don't picture either of them as being the types to wear their hearts on their sleeves, but I like the idea of there being this sort of "secret" side to each of them that only the other one gets to see. I touched on this a bit in my ficlets and will probably expand on it some more when I do some more writing from Kaidan's perspective.

I think he felt despair over her death, but he strikes me as the kind of person who would internalize it. Hence throwing himself into work as a way to not think about it. So, I don't see any poetry or anything.

Okay, I'm reading my way through Blastette now and I haven't laughed like this in a while.

Thanks ;)

Hi, all, remember me? I can't keep up with you! *sobs* You ladies are just too full of Kaidan goodness for me! For shame, I haven't even written those Shenko fics I promised to write. I need to try to amend that over the next week or so...

Welcome to the gents who have become part of our fold. I'm always glad for a male perspective and positively delighted when it's you and not the trolls who haunt our threads.

Well, I don't remember you, but *hugs* Welcome back! Group hug everyone *resists urge to go seedy on this one*

And I dunno. He seems like he might be the type - not really an all out soldier type, though even they aren't uniformally uncaring souls in reality (I should know, pap was in the army ;))

Coming soon; the heroes of the Normandy, saviors of the galaxy, in a futuristic version of the human classic Romeo and Juliette! (Director: I'm going to beat you Elcor Hamlet!)

Sorry. Ehum. Not really sure to be honest.

They may have that "gooiness,"  but I think both are more the, "work will save you," types.

Your Shep and mine would get along.  She's all tough and whatever, but when it comes to Kaidan, she just goes completely mushy.

Yeah, but she quoted martial poetry, not Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Only in America :whistle:Which I shall summarize in a joke I stole from Jim Davidson came
up with myself.

One day, a UK general and a US general where talking.

US: "My boys are the bravest soldiers on Earth. They'll do anything I tell'em!"

UK: "Oh really?"

US: "Yup; Sergeant! Climb up that guard tower and leap off!"

US-sergeant: "Sir, yes sir!"

*The sergeant climbs up the tower as ordered and leaps off - has to be stretchered out*

US: "You did good son... Now, see how brave my lads are?"

UK: "Sergeant? Be a good lad and climb up that tower and leap off."

*UK-sergeant looks at the tower, then back to the general*

UK-sergeant: "Sir, **** you, sir"

UK: "Now THATS bravery!"

True.  Yeah, somehow I don't see Kaidan bringing in any seriously romantic poetry, at least not until he's a lot more sure of himself in his relationship with Shepard.

"Holding back" is a good way of putting it.  I think that the uber-restrained Kaidan was holding back a few mushier impulses on the grounds that he "always leaves a way out."  In general, though, I prefer his dry humour.  (Loved Ash, but not a fan of her poetry choices.  Just like Kaidan's sly little one-liners better.)

I agree, he's holding a lot in now and I don't think that it will be pleasant when he finally gets around to dealing with the depth of his pain over Shepard’s death and his confusion over her being back in his life now.

That pain has to be dealt with before Shepard and Kaidan can move forward in ME3.

I can picture things being more like this fanfic http://www.fanfictio.../5771591/1/Push than Kaidan coming up with poetry to express himself.

Oh, also, if James Blunt can be a Captain in the army during the Kosovo operation, I don't think its fair to say that all soldiers are like that, heh.

I loooove awkward Kaidan and his totally adorable little slip ups, so I like to think that by the time he opens up enough to deliberately say cute things, he's already accidentally said way more than he realises (see: scenic view on the Citadel; "beautiful, but not stuck up about it. Like you, ma'am.") comment) . He doesn't strike me as someone with a lot of relationship experience, so it takes him some time to work up the courage to do/say something mushy (too busy second guessing himself at first), but when he does, it's honest and straight from the heart, not because it's something he knows he's supposed to do.

Okay, plot hole eliminated. I think I like this even better, actually... leaves open some interesting possibilities for future stories. Now to get back to working on my current fanfic project...

I don't think you have to just to read stuff.  Or is it because I put the mature warning on?  I can take that off...
