Haha, I remember the first time I brought Liara to the final battle, and she was telling me to let the Council die.  I was like, "are you really sure about that, Liara???"    I understand that Kaidan is the more "paragon" of the two if you don't renegade him, but they should have had more than two sets of dialogue for the various teammates.  There was absolutely nothing leading to that point that would have me believe that she would honestly take that position.  I'm glad that ME2 abandoned the "Good Cop/Bad Cop" approach to party dialogue.

I know, but it was really, really hard to find decent light armor on that playthrough, and I needed someone to wear the Survivor armor for the environmental buff.  It wasn't going to be my character or Kaidan...

I may have been desensitized by her and Kaidan demolishing everything in their path up to that point, though. XD

I brought Garrus and Wrex with me, on my first playthrough, which was fine because both of them could be bad-cop and all. But when I played through it with Kaidan and Tali and Kaidan shot Saren in the head I was a bit wuuuuuuuuuut.... >_O

Why wouldn't Kaidan shoot Saren? I mean, he IS a soldier. (though in my playthroughs it was always Wrex who did it..)

It goes Renegade and down. Say you brought Wrex and Liara with you, Wrex will shoot Sarens head and say let the council die, or say you bring Tali and Kai, it will be Tali that does the shot and say let the council die. It depands on moral, which is bad because then you have moments like Liara saying let the council die and shooting Saren

I always select him first. And I think that last time he did it. Liara was second.

I can't even tell you how much I think about this issue, not just the final fight, but generally speaking what is the trigger in team mate choice that makes anyone say/do anything? Do you think for that bit they assume that Ashley has been saved and will take that head shot and Kaidan is never going to be the one to do it cos he is dead?
S'why Liara does it, cos Kaidan isn't there.............................. <_<

Pretty much this.

Also one of the reasons I never take Kaidan with me that often.

Have you noticed that there is also a certain amount of "newb" factor, too? It seems like one person gets the "we need to do so and so" (We need to stop Saren!) and the other person has the snarky, funny remarks about it (Who votes we take the Mako into the creepy bunker?). I am guessing here, but it seems that it goes:

Well, on the playthrough where Kaidan shot Saren, it was him and Tali and he had been thoroughly renegaded by moi~! So I think it depends on those things. Btw; Tali is NOT innocent. ¬_¬ She scares me.

I've played through the first one about 4 or 5 times now. Each time Kaidan is in my final team and he's never shot Saren. Hmm.

I usually bring Wrex and I've never not gotten "Who votes we take the Mako into the creepy bunker?" from Kaidan.  In fact, I thought it was one of his unique lines.

Really? I think the only time I didn't get that line from Kaidan is when Garrus stole it. I love Kaidan saying that line.

When I take Kaidan (renegaded or not) and Wrex with me, Kaidan always says the 'creepy underground bunker' line. Wrex is also the one to freak out a bit on Ilos if you have Kaidan with you.



Also, if you renegade Kaidan, he becomes the most renegade character.

Do you think it'll matter in ME3 if you renegaded him? Or do you think Bioware'll pull a Garrus again?

When you open Gibbed's ME2 save editor, you can see the ME1 flags that can be checked, and Kaidan, Ashley and Garrus's renegade/paragon statuses definitely don't carry over. So unless they have us import both ME1 and ME2 save files (don't really see that happening), I don't think it will carry over.



Is anyone else worried that Kaidan will have changed *too* much over the course of the two years and however long it is before we see him in ME3 again? He was obviously very confused, sad, and angry on Horizon, so we didn't get a good chance to see how he has evolved since Shepard's death. Both Tali and Garrus changed in some ways, but not too severely, and for the better. I liked Kaidan the way he was...but what if the writers decide to "HOTROD" or "GRIMDARK" him for ME3, if they're going to make him a teammate, to make him more appealing to guys?



This is why I want confirmation on who wrote Kaidan in ME1, and info on whether they'll be doing so again in ME3. I am concerned.

I agree. That's not the Kaidan we know, I like Kai how he is, I wouldn't mind some dev in his character but nothing drastic like Liara simply because with Liara it took a crap load of time to dev her into what she is, Bioware sadly would't do that with Kai because of Virmire

I'm concerned too that he'll end up changing to get OOC in ME3. If you look at Ash's dialog on Horizon, "I don't like aliens either but Cerberus?" (something like that) had the Ash fans up in arms. And I don't blame them because Ash went through great lengths to explain that she cared about humans, not that she hated aliens. Horizon completely threw that out the window and I'd hate to see that happen to Kaidan too.
