How many of you are freaked out by the possibility if a bug for the Kaidan romance popping up that can derail it? I am at least a little concerned, although LOTSB didnt have any for me.

With all the bugs in Witch Hunt, and some glaring ones in ME2 import wise I have a question.

When you open Gibbed's ME2 save editor, you can see the ME1 flags that can be checked, and Kaidan, Ashley and Garrus's renegade/paragon statuses definitely don't carry over. So unless they have us import both ME1 and ME2 save files (don't really see that happening), I don't think it will carry over.
Great. Another choice (possibly) without any consequences. That seems to be a general problem in ME2.
Is anyone else worried that Kaidan will have changed *too* much over the course of the two years and however long it is before we see him in ME3 again? He was obviously very confused, sad, and angry on Horizon, so we didn't get a good chance to see how he has evolved since Shepard's death. Both Tali and Garrus changed in some ways, but not too severely, and for the better. I liked Kaidan the way he was...but what if the writers decide to "HOTROD" or "GRIMDARK" him for ME3, if they're going to make him a teammate, to make him more appealing to guys?
This is why I want confirmation on who wrote Kaidan in ME1, and info on whether they'll be doing so again in ME3. I am concerned.
I do expect some change. In fact, I'd be disappointed if he didn't change at least a bit. Who wouldn't if they went through what he did?
We should have been able to get in contact with him again, maybe meeting up on the Citadel after he had some time to cool off and for Shepard to regain something resembling human emotions. You know, just to see if there's still some hope for them, even with Shepard working for Cerberus.
But I guess that's what the message was supposed to be for.
I just hope that Bioware won't ruin his character and character development just for the sake of him being more popular.

No kidding. I do have some confidence that Bioware won't just pander to the haters... Here's hoping it's not misplaced confidence.

Carth is all:YOURE A SECRET SITH! CONFESS! for a good while.
While Kaidan is very calm laid back, and pretty open.
They are very different people and charachters.
Also for some reason if I hear R. Sbarge talking it literally feels like there is an experienced guy with you and you have a solid wingman in most fights. I really miss that in ME2 its mostly being going BOOYAH in combat now.

When someone mentions Carth in their complaints about Kaidan, it's a good sign that that person is incredibly ignorant or just a sheep who is incapable of forming their own opinion.
It's like the people who beat a game but still don't understand the plot. You can try to explain, but it's probably a lost cause.

Kids these days are in the INSTANT GRATIFICATION market.
While many RPG gamers are in the Long-Term gratification market, where the whole experience is considered.
Sadly thats the way Bioware is headed right now, however TOR does offer some hope.
Also there is a rumor going around that R Sbarge is voicing someone in TOR, although its only a rumor ATM.

I haven't played KOTOR much. But I didn't get that Carth and Kaidan were by the same VA for a while.
So far, Carth has given me a, "FRIG, stop trying to get me to open up! I don't trust you!" angsty, angry vibe.
And Kaidan is....nice. He gives you advice and tells you about himself because he wants to help you succeed.
Hm....I REALLY hope BW doesn't turn Kaidan into a Carth clone for any DLC or ME3.

I miss Kaidan's (and other characters') "Not right now, thx!" attitude when in fights. It makes more sense to me, what with the trying to focus and not get shot and everything.

Supposedly he's playing a Smuggler Companion. I was planning on levelling a Jedi Consular first, but if the rumor is true, I'm definitely spending some quality time with his character -- err, I mean, definitely rolling a Smuggler...

I love Carth to pieces, as anyone who hangs around here much knows well, but he is definitely made to be romanced by a femRevan. Male Revan never really gets past that "I don't trust you" but if you're playing femRevan... then give him a chance, be patient, and I promise you there will be a payoff. And don't always be so deadly serious with him either; you'll miss some of the best banter for that romance.
Kaidan, on the other hand, has much more bromance potential, even if it isn't necessarily fully realized in-game. He's competent, level-headed, an experienced soldier...perfect for the guy who's always got your back, whether your Shepard is a man or a woman.

Actually near the end of KOTOR, Carth does really open up to a maleRevan, after you help him out on Korriban.Joisan wrote...

I have been trying to figure out if I want to play Jedi Counsular or smuggler also. I love magical abilities, but there's that whole "no attachments" crud with the Jedi and I don't want that posing a problem either.
If Sbarge really is voicing the companion for the smuggler...
Brody: The gals are right about Carth. Don't be too nice. Don't be mean either. But definitely take some of the snarky options. Sometimes his responses are just awesome!
One of my fav's goes like:
femPC: Oh, I have ways of making you talk, Carth. Believe me.
Carth: Well, I might just have to take you up on that sometime...
I've said this before, but...I love Carth's character. He's my 2nd favorite SW character. I just love his passion and flirting/fighting with him. He's just fun that way.
So when Kaidan opened up his mouth, that was it for me. His looks didn't do a whole lot for me, to be honest. But it was his character that really drew me in and the nice slow build that the romance takes on through ME1. Of course, now I love his looks. Especially the little criss cross scar on his lip and even the odd hair bump.

But I agree with Teen. The only similarity between Carth and Kai is VA, that's it. Carth had a lot of trust issues, cleary something Kai did not have. He was up front a lot.

Unfortunately i think this trilogy is one of these things that are so epic and so loved that no matter how they conclude it it wont be good enough. ( Probably because they dare to conclude it at all! >
