Chris L'Etoile has spoken very eloquently in the past about Ashley NOT being a racist, and explained the "dog and bear" example very clearly. I don't think he would have written Ashley's line on Horizon "I don't like aliens, but Cerberus?" It's possible that he wrote the email, or someone added that line after he left (since he left mid-project), but it's just not something I think he would want to rehash, after trying to break that stereotype.
I just want whomever writes Kaidan and Ashley next time around to be someone who actually cares about the characters. It didn't feel that way at ALL in ME2.

Chris L'Etoile did IIRC comment (on the wiki?), that at least Thane, whom he wrote originally, was changed in the final release. I wouldn't be surprised if at least Ash got the "Walters GrimDark" treatment in the DLC or in ME3, which made Liara unrecognizable in the release version of ME2. That line about aliens doesn't indeed bode well...
Hell, in that "bear and dog" line, she was saying THE COUNCIL wouldn't be racist for thinking like in her example, she wasn't defending herself.
Ugh... I hope Kaidan's original writer is still in the team. Or they give the job to Weekes, who I understand was was involved in LotSB.

IMO, Shepard needs to be out on her own. Look what happened in the first game with having to cow-tow to the Alliance and the Council.Elysis wrote...
@TeenZombie : I'm with you 200%! I don't know how things are going to play out in ME3, but I'm deeply and profoundly scared at the possibility that considering Alliance has ditched you, and you have ditched Cerberus (Well, I have), what happens to you?? >< Kaidan wouldn't ditch everything to join your ship..(Will you even STILL have the Normandy 2??) Well, I wouldn't assume he'd do such a thing.
On another note, I was re-playing Horizon yesterday and I realized that in Kaidan's words, it wasn't the "I loveD you!" and other things that hurt me the most, but the "You betrayed the Alliance. You betrayed me".
Harsh
For anyone that hasn't started reading fic yet, it's really worth taking the time to do so .Sialater wrote...
Good Morning! Speaking of Shepard: A new chapter of The Shepard Project: Persephone Rising is up.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm still catching up on what y'all did over the weekend.
Yeah. He does pretty well, considering. But it still hurts. A lot. Especially when he walks away so angry.Elysis wrote...
@Jade : Actually, you're right. When I think of it, Shepard would end up on her own, rallying whoever would agree, to her cause. I'm so glad I saved the Rachni! And maybe Cerberus would let Shepard keep the Normandy and help her out either way. TIM says it himself : she's the only one who stands a chance (Well not alone. You know what I mean) against the reapers.
And I'm totally okay with what Kaidan says on Horizon. Heck, I think he handled himself pretty well, I would have been a wreck! Still, these two sentences always ******.

A little OT, but I'm playing Vanguard for the first time and getting my butt kicked regularly. I know that you all play that class a lot. How do you use them to make them most effective?
'Cause I want to be a good team leader for Kaidan (there. I tied it in.)

Are you playing Vanguard in ME1 or ME2?
