ME3 could just be another "alternate universe," and we can consider the rainbows and butterflies endings we have in our imaginations canon.

Sadly KOTOR 2 did happen.Joisan wrote...
I like the way you think, friend. Jade and I are already in agreement that KotOR 2 did not happen. If ME3 doesn't meet what I want to see for Mia and Kaidan, then I'll just have to make it up.
The TOR devs refer to it a lot.
I wish it hadent happened but what can you do.

It's been used in Star Trek a couple times. There is one where Captain Kirk, Uhara, and a couple other characters find some kind of warp in time and are switched with their counterparts from another universe. Except in that universe, everybody is evil. So they they need to find the right universe. It was used in another episode as well. Captain Benjamin Sisko was transported into another universe where he still existed. Except in his reality, his wife was dead, wheras in this universe, she was alive but they divorced and hated each other.I never watched Lost, but I think the concept was utilized in that show too.
Wikipedia explains it better in this article. And here's one explaining parallel universes in fan-fiction specifically, which would definitely apply to KAST members who don't want Kaidan to die.
Never underestimate the power of the imagination. Maybe ME3 happens for some of your Shepards, but not for others. Or maybe ME3 doesn't happen for any character. It's easy to ignore things in life and dismiss them--why not make use of those skills for endings, games, or movies you don't like, especially if it keeps you happier?

I've just created the following poll, which asks users to vote for the romance which is not necessarily their favourite, but the one that they believe to be the most well-written. Any contributions or votes would be very much appreciated:

I'll breathe when I see a satisfying conclusion to the Shenko romance in ME3 (and just for you, I'll hope for a satisfying end for Meghan and Garrus too)
In the meantime, I have other things to occupy me. Like keeping the updates coming for Truth and Lies. Ch. 13 is up for the rest of your reading pleasure.
Heh, thanks.
Just to see how it plays out, I'll have a "faithful" save for Meghan, too, though her canon will remain the way it is.
YAY~ T&L!

Methinks people are ignoring the "do not vote for your personal favorite romance" thing...IMO if you play the Liara DLC (or at least watch the romance portion on YouTube) and deny that it's now the best written romance, you're just biased.

I still deny it because of the way it starts off. I don't do "damsels in distress."

Oh, don't get me wrong, I definitely realize it's not for everyone. I just think that because she's had the DLC, and it was well written, she now gets the prize. I wouldn't have said the same thing before LotSB.

But no matter what they did in the DLC, the beginning is too corny. Don't get me wrong, I love Liara as a character, but as a romance, she's just too... damselish, which sets my teeth on edge.
Kaidan's is still better written. It's more of a meeting of equals than that of Liara's romance. Heck, I think the evolution of Garrus from friend to more is done better because of the equals thing. I realize you have to rescue Kaidan twice in the storyline, too, but since the same rescues occur for Ashley, it's less "prince in peril" than Commander Shepard being selfless.

It's a huge matter of opinion though. I'm voting Kaidan. The whole romance felt *normal* and that's why I loved it.

liara - "best written" in that it's most developed, played to throughout the series. she's completely in love with shep and meant to be the ultimate LI
tali - "best written" in that she's the unexpected favorite and all of ME2 caters to her character and the development of her as a potential LI
but kaidan is the "Best written" for being the most realistic - a true relationship between two adult marines. hence, as that is what i wanted from the story, that is the Best written romance imo

Kaidan has the best romance hands down. Like most of you already said, it feels normal, equal, and Kaidan's everything you'd want in a man for a healthy, stable relation ship!
Though I like Thane's romance too, it's sweet.

Well, this is what I love about Kaidan too, so you must be right, LOL. I'm still very jealous of the development of the Liara romance in the DLC. I'd pay through the nose for the same sort of treatment for Kaidan (Bioware, you don't have to listen to that suggestion...)
