Kara did that--out of a misunderstanding like Sia said.

And something I never really understood was the reputation he had as a whiner when he never once really whined and yet Garrus (who whined a lot in ME1) is still considered badass.

I can't stop playing either.  I have Final Fantasy XIII, Fable I and II sitting and waiting patiently.  But I can't tear myself away from Kaidan long enough to play them.  If I had been able to find the Sith Edition of The Force Unleahsed today at our local store, that would have been the only thing that could have torn me away from ME.  Mostly because of the ability of playing Starkiller/Sam without a shirt.

Kaidan doesn't call Liara, "humanoid squid," or anything like that.  He's nice about his rejection.  And takes it pretty well.

Jeez, I can't even get away from ME to play KOTOR.  And that's supposed to be one of BW's best games AND have several ME VAs in there as well.  :S

EDIT: and I've tried getting the ME1 confrontation scenes, and I always fail.  

The problem with KOTOR for me right now is that I am in one of the quiet Carth points.  Where he doesn't have much to say.  And IMO, the Carth banter is the second best part of the game (the first being the awesome story with that twist!).

The first time I played I got the confrontation scene... I didn't know until that moment I was having a relationship with either one... I sided with Kaidan (she looks like a girl) ... I didn't realize that being nice to Liara meant I wanted to have sex with her... and I was interested in having one with Kaidan, just didn't know you could have one... I was really happy when the night before Ilos happened though...

Welcome to the thread, Sevalaricgirl! Bioware has stated that the Virmire Survivor (Kaidan/Ashley) will have a very important role in ME3. What that role is, we have no clue, but we're hopeful.

I won't tell you that I actually like Garrus' romance, appearance notwithstanding. But this isn't the place.

 - I am the same way about making Shep look a certain way.  She's always fair, blonde, and gray-eyed.  Sometimes light blue eyes but I really like the gray.  I know what you mean about getting obsessive.  I think I have a girl-crush on my FemShep.  My final Shep (Elena) looks a lot like yours, actually.

 - I always play FemShep.  I make plans to play MaleShep.  But it never happens.  I also make plans to play Renegade but that never happens either.  Paragon Shep is just so amazing on her own.

 - Adept is my favorite class.  I feel like I'm driving someone else's car when I play anything else.

 - And try as I might to romance Liara.....cannot resist Kaidan.

So....I don't even have the excuse of variety.  I did manage to romance Garrus once in ME2.  But going up to Shep's quarters and seeing that overturned Kaidan holo made me so sad.

Welcome!  As others have said, if you desire more Kaidan before ME3, there is always fanfiction.  Nightodie's list that is linked in her sig of Kaidan fan fics is a great place to start.

As for the ME2 love interests, I feel the same way as you do on the sexual compatibility of aliens in general, but I thought the game did a good job in keeping the romance scenes for Garrus and Thane tasteful.  Until we have a book of Mass Effect universe alien anatomy, who are we to say whether other fans imaginations are right or wrong after the fade out?  And would it be so bad if the "culmination" of the respective relationships was different from what we're accustomed to?  As long as the writers don't venture into half alien baby territory, I think letting the fans have their own interpretations of what happened is best.

Also, since you enjoy writing, you may get sucked into fan fiction too.  If so, please share!  There is never enough Kaidan fic!

I have not done any of the other romances (unlike Sia and no not even for science) so I am pretty much with you there.  Garrus and Kaidan are my prefered squad also *handshake*

Most of us here are die hard Kaidan in ME3 fans ...(well some may be on the fence, but most of us are)  and we will talk of it all you want...

You're not alone, there are a few of us 40+ Kaidan fangirls, lol.  I like Kaidan cause he's the only femShep LI that doesn't ask anything of Shepard, he has no issues that need fixing.  He's more intent on helping Shepard than worrying about his own problems.

32 in ME1, 35 in ME2.
I like how ME features characters saving the galaxy who are older. And mature.  Games like Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, along with most JRPGs, have games where the majority of characters are in their teens/early 20s. I can't imagine people my age saving the world, or the galaxy.

And its harder to get into those romances, too.  I'm in my 30's, so I find characters like Kaidan and Carth quite appealing who are mature, virile men, rather than mere boys like in the FF series.

EDIT:  I'm with Night.  Kaidan #1, my femShep #2
