leave the poor man alone. He's on loan from the Alliance and it's
against his regulations to start screwing the liaison for his
mission. Isn't that right, commander?”
Kaidan swallowed
and nodded. He didn't trust himself to speak, much less say something
to help the situation. It didn't help that Shepard's face was neutral
once more, and he was having trouble reading her moods.
“If you'll come
with me, Ka – commander,” she said. “I have some other people
to introduce you to.”
... and that's it for now. As for the rest, I may actually use it someday. I have a lot of "reunion" stuff that I don't know if I'll ever use. Right now, I'm struggling to get done angsty pre-Omega 4 relay chapters.
*laughs* Poor Kaidan.

I’ve been thinking about Kaidan’s role in ME3. It’s been discussed here that, as a consequence of a ‘cheating’ Shep, that perhaps you don’t get him as a squadmate. But what about a Shep who saves the Collector Base and ultimately sticks with Cerberus? I know very few, if any, here would go that route. But I’m wondering if you think it should be an option.
I’m of two minds about this. On one hand, it would be completely in-character, and understandable, if Kaidan refused to join you in this scenario… even moreso than if Shepard has moved on with someone else. I think he’d be professional enough to put his emotions aside to get the job done. But if Shepard is loyal to Cerberus, I just don’t see how he’d align himself with her again without it being OOC, especially after Horizon.
But another part of me would be afraid that if the possibility of Kaidan (or Ashley, since the same would apply to her) not being recruitable exists, that not as much effort would be put into his character. And that’s on top of the whole interchangeable VS situation.
Soooo this has me racking my brain, thinking of a plausible reason that Kaidan would rejoin Shepard, regardless of her loyalties, since I think that’s most likely to happen. Unless, the VS is sent after Shep. I know that’s not a popular idea here, but I think in this particular case, it would 1) make sense, 2) keep them in the game in a significant way, and 3) be completely avoidable if you severed your ties with Cerberus.

I also sorted them into albums on Photobucket, so if anyone wants to use them as reference, you can just hit the Slideshow option to read each conversation. You can find them here:

Here's a guess, though I doubt it's likelihood... If the Alliance is involved in something truly ugly that we don't yet know about... Kaidan could have a crisis of loyalty in all respects and come to understand a little more why Shepard's position vis-a-vis loyalty to the Alliance is not so simple... That could allow him to reunite both with a Shepard who nukes the Collector base and one who decides to turn it over to Cerberus. /best guess

Yeah, even though it probably isn't likely, things like greybox from Kasumi's LM and the mystery surrounding Anderson does put it within the realm of possibilty. And if that was the case, I'd at least be more willing to accept that Kaidan would return to Cerberus!Shep.
But it'd also have to be something huge if it's going to shake his foundation to that degree.

It's possible that there will be a Big Reveal about how Cerberus is the Alliance comes about, and Kaidan has to join with Shepard (who is now freelance - I don't think you stay with Cerberus, even if you keep the base?) for his own safety or somewhat. Bringing it together in such a way that he might not be happy you kept the base, but he'd have bigger things to worry about.
Or the base could have as far reaching consequences as saving the Council did in ME1.

I think Kaidan's German VA is fine, but I'm just so used to Sbarge's awesome voice.
The FemShep VA is awesome. She has the same quiet energy as Hale.
But I think movies and/or games that are dubbed into the local language are always better in the original language. When playing JRPGs, I always cringed when hearing the VAs. For movies and games in different languages, I prefer subtitles (but besides JRPGS, I haven't had the opportunity to play games from other countries...always wanted to try The Witcher, but I don't have a PC).
I'm with you on that. If anyone is interested, here's a video of the first conversation between FemShep and Kaidan in German.

If you click on the poster's name link, she has more vids. I love the German voices! They're so awesome! There's only that one conversation of Kaidan talking in German (the Horizon encounter is English), but it's so awesome to see ME in other languages! Garrus' voice is also awesome. <3 He gives Keener a run for his money.
Anybody have links for Kaidan talking in other languages (or ME in general, but since this is the Kaidan thread it makes more sense to focus on him)?

I agree. If even BAaT training didn't discourage him from joining the Alliance eventually, then any Alliance ugliness would need to have potentially catastrophic ramifications.
