^ Night, I'm the same way. Shepard always takes on that aspect of me. So Ari will never choose an ME2 lover, but will always be loyal to Kaidan and my Liara Sheps are loyal, too-- even though I've only played all of ME2 with one of them.

I am sort of tempted to start up a Shep just for ME2 so I can try out the Jacob and Thane romances-- I just don't feel it for Garrus-- but I'm so weird in that I don't want my Xbox profile to register the Paramour achievement for ME2... somehow that still feels disloyal to Kaidan and Liara. I'm so weird... But I love that we can all enjoy the game so differently...

I also always play paragon, so that's kind of strange, too. I have had a really hard time choosing renegade options.

Oh, that's right... and I only have one Shep who chose Kaidan because I can't bear having any other Shep "competing" for him. I don't feel so possessive of Liara, though. The Sheps that chose Liara do save Kaidan on Virmire, but avoid speaking to him on the Normandy.

Oops, top of the page...  needs one of these:

I just made the mistake of dipping into the 'Your honest reason for saving Ashley or Kaidan' thread

good lord theres a lot of Kaidan bashing! One particular line along the lines of 'kaidan was so bland i chose a xenophobe over him'.

Yeah, some parts of the forums are really ridiculous so I stay here. I've often referred myself to a "Kaidan Justicar- rarely venturing outside of Kaidan space"

I do get into the characters 'head' as it were. The problem is that once I am in there I can't look at the other romances. I love Garrus, really but not in a sexual way. I love talking to Thane, but again there isn't anything appealing about sleeping with him to me (yes and even his lips which are considered quite fine). Jacob does nothing to woo me.

lol I was actually this way when I first. I couldn't quite understand the huge fangasm over Garrus or Thane. To me, Garrus was always my buddy and never saw him as romatically interesting. And Thane... well he creeped me out at first and frustrated me, because he just kept dieing on me in my first playthrough. After completing their romances with their respective Sheps, I understand their appeal(or lack thereof in some cases ;)), but ultimately it hasn't changed my personal pereferences. I tried a new dish, found out it wasn't so great or it didn't compare to my favorite dish, and now I know. Great... now I'm hungry. lol

Also gettting inside the mind of the Character it has only been about a month for her since Ilos. I don't know about you but for me, even if it were over with Kaidan and he wasn't the only thing not quest related on my mind (and he is), I would take longer then that to morn what could have been.

And I agree. This is mainly my top reason as to why I'm not entirely fond of ME2 romances after experiencing them. Flirting with Jacob comes wayyyyy too early in the game.<_< Whoever wrote this romance, wrote it poorly.

lol  I love the way you think.

On a side note - new Shenko fic up and running:  http://www.fanfictio.../1/Renegade_Sun

Keep in mind this is just an intro - there will be Kaidan love.  Oh yes, there will be Kaidan love.

Re- Shepards and romance variations:

I've tried multiple Shepards over the course of ME1 and two of them really spoke to me. So, Shepard to me is either Faith Shepard or John Shepard. I'll admit that I haven't imported John to ME2 yet and I have no idea what (or who) he's going to do. I'm hoping that he'll have learned some manners after ME1 XD

I think a couple of the complaints are legitimate, particularly as regards ninja romancing and Ashley. You have to be downright rude to the poor girl to kill the romance.

I'm playing around with a fic idea. Unfortunately, I'm a bit worried about making Kaidan too perfect. So, what are his flaws? So far, I've got sticking with the Alliance long after it should have become clear they aren't interested in combating the Reapers. Any suggestions?

He's a little too idealistic and softspoken at times. I get the impression that he's too nice on people that need some tough love- look at how he continually excuses the Council in ME1. He's probably doing the same kind of excusing for the Alliance in ME2.

He's too controlled and conservative sometimes given his history at brain camp - not sure if he always gives of himself 100%. This can be related to his powers or even his relationship with Shep. How much does he hold in reserve (powers and/or romance) in order to leave a way out? "Reserved" might be a better word.

Yes, I get the impression that he finds it difficult to let people in. He holds people at arm's length

My Paramour in ME2 is still darkened and will remain so.

I also play paragon 100% and get quite annoyed when I have to take renegade points for no apparent reason (Samara quest)

There are some of us who just can't add to the total people who's Paramour achievement has been activated.

Can I get an Amen Fort!!!

Okay, good, I'm not the only one with the need to keep the ME2 paramour achievement locked up tight :)

And, mllrthyme, yes. I got the sense that Kaidan's "I always leave a way out line" was him speaking about more than just the flirting with Shep-- it was a commentary on who he is in a broader sense.

I have the achievement. I love Kaidan, but I also love Thane and Miranda. Don't make me choose.

I know it shouldn't be, but that's incredibly attractive.  You want to be that one person he lets in.  However, this is both a good and bad attribute as it may lead to a focus on achieving that goal - getting him to open up and let you in which makes you feel even more special - rather than understanding him as a person and his motivations.  I have to wonder if the people describing Kaidan as bland really ever got to know him.....or thought about him as much as we do?  Posted Image  I think there is a lot he keeps hidden.

Pardon my ramblings.  *jumps back on topic*

@ jtav - I also have one character specially for Thane.  I just love him to pieces!  And this way, I can have my Kaidan cake and eat it too.

It's enormously appealing to be the person he lets past his barriers. Every confidence he gives you is something you've earned because he doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve.

I dunno, I kinda suspect that my Shepard tricked him into it.  She's tricky like that, and not to be trusted.  :?

lol I read that in Gollum's voice.Posted Image

I liked Kaidan's romance because it was subtle and didn't feel over-the-top.  Plus, he comes to Shep in the end, which is always fun when another character pursues yours.

I wish I had talked about this earlier in my dorm.

There has to be about a dozen people who all play ME.

Only one of them is a girl though, but she likes Kaidan.

Its awesome to finally have a group to talk to, about all this in my building. Not suprisingly most of them hate Horizon. I hate it too since I cant stop Shep from acting like an idiot.
