So, just beat ME1 with my engineer who shacked up Kaiden and yeah, while I don't think I'll be screaming my love for him from the rooftops or drooling over shirtless Kaidan (maybe because I'm a guy) he's definately improved for me. Before he was about as interesting as Jacob, but I'm definately looking forward to him rejoining the party in ME3 now.

So I've been replaying Grim Fandango. What's this have to do with Kaidan? Nothing. Not unless Kaidan was organizing a revolt. Thought it was interesting nonetheless.

(No, I'm not just throwing out something completely unrelated to this thread. :P )

@ Paci - Yeah I don't see Kaidan in any of that...

Do you think he needs to be written in? Why are you playing that if there is no Kaidan?

Why did you want us to watch it?

I think I need a squeeze

Oh that is much better!!

I want to play this game.  Any game with anthropomorphic characters that make allegories to real life are awesome, especially when mixing it with skulls/calacas.  Except that it's for PC.  >:(

Are you referencing the bee, Terry?  Is that Sbarge's voice?

Pacifen...did that disgruntled bee have Kaidan's voice actor? I...don't know how to feel about that...

He's a pretty damn good, versatile VA.

Seriously! I could hardly tell it was him!
Carth and Kaidan sound pretty similar though, which I know is why people are always comparing them.  I personally don't think they are similar character-wise though.
I don't really know of anything else Sbarge is in...

Really? I thought that Carth and Kaidan had some voice similarities, but Kaidan's was definitely deeper and more controlled. Carth was just like a ball of fire, from what I remember. But I didn't get far in KOTOR either. It turns out he's Scorch in Republic Commando too, and it doesn't sound like Kaidan, but there are similarities there too. It's awesome how he can manipulate little nuances in his voice to convey different characters.

It was like realizing that Jennifer Hale was Alex in Eternal Darkness. I can hear the similarities, but she manages to capture the personality through her voice and modify her voice enough to convey that. Pretty talented.

Sbarge's voice, now it makes sense.  So turning on the speaker instead of reading the lines would have helped.

Thank you Paci.

Yes, Sbarge's voice. :P It's sufficiently different enough from Carth and Kaidan, I thought you guys might like to hear it. :) When I first played Mass Effect, I actually found Kaidan to sound exactly the same as Carth, which annoyed me somewhat because I didn't see why BioWare would have the same voice actor use the same voice for two major characters in their games. When I replayed KOTOR, I realized Carth definitely was much less reserved and playful than Kaidan.

But Terry the SeaBee is definitely different.

For me, there was one pure "Carth" moment in ME: In the love scene, before Ilos, when he goes on about "serving under Shep", my Shepard says something like: "I've never had the pleasure of you serving under me. Isn't it time we rectify that? And then Kaiden replies: "Ouch, I walked right into that, didn't I?" That was so cute.

But yes, Sberge manages to make Kaidan sound different from Carth. Of course, one can still recognize him. He has a very distinct voice, slightly husky and, erm, very sexy.

Hi there!  Now there's something nice to wake up to.

An update on my little game thing, apparently the project page is very picky.  Who knew?
It *should* be working now.  It's here http://social.biowar...m/project/3740/ for any that don't feel like looking for the last post.  (If, however, it's still hiding, please let me know.)
/hugs
And now, I'm off to my LINUX practical.  Yay.  Posted Image

Christ now all I can think of is Kaidan making silly faces to talk like that bee.

I really like his raspiness he's got going on. Strokes me the right way, yannowatimsayin

After Horizon, Kaidan begins to rethink everything he's ever known about the Alliance. He grows disillusioned. He realizes he's being used by everyone. For his biotics. For his connection to Shepard. He's being brought down by The Man. There is only one thing left for him to do: Revolución!

Things like this are always cool to see.  I know not every character is going to be everyone's favorite, but it's great when we can take another look and find more depth.  I know I was guilty of writing off certain characters, both in ME1 and 2, but after playing again and taking another look, I like them a lot more.  Some more than others, of course, and some of them are not for my main Shepard romance-wise, but that's cool too.

I really want to see defined friendship paths for squadmates in ME3, I think it will change many people's perspectives on characters like Kaidan, who seem to be written specifically to be a romance option.  While I like him just fine that way, it didn't help his popularity with many other (male) gamers, and now I worry that his role in the last game will suffer from that.

It will be a huge relief when we start getting ME3 news.  DLC would be great too, but I'm not getting my hopes too high...

It's not just Meg's fault this time, it's Zevran's and my OP's (and the version of Zevran who invaded my OP-- which gets first shot at the queue, no matter what).  Avery's just the most polite character in my head.

Next Chapter is Kaidan's POV.  He's usually pushier than Avery anyway, strangely.
