I honestly think the suicide/sacrifice thing has been played out now and I don't *think* they will do anything like that with Kaidan and Ashleyavalon30 wrote...
Damn it, Fort. You could be right. I'd just like to think that the blaze of glory death is not the ONLY possible ending...

That always makes me think of Sid in Ice Age 2fortunesque wrote...
Or the VS could be the only possible liaison to the Council and Alliance.
It could either be really good or really bad. So there's your positive thought of the day
True, but nothing that the player wasn't totally in control ofavalon30 wrote...
Well, the Alistair romance from DA certainly had a tricky set of ending to negotiate... with plenty of potential for self sacrifice involved.

I just got a lovely reply from Jesse, I will just pop the most important part of his reply on here
''I can't give details for obvious reasons. But I can tell you that I've not forgotten Ash and Kaiden at all. They are pivotal to the Mass Effect franchise... I wish I could tell you more!''
How nice is that? :-)
PS he uses smileys a lot too, lol ;-)

I'm even more suspicious now that they're going to kill off the VS in a blaze of glory :/

No, because I have been here before with EA-bought companies. Come ME3 we will all be playing blonde, blue eyed male surfer-dude Shepard, Kaidan will have died on Virmire, and nothing we have done will have mattered. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/surprised.png[/smilie]
(^ mostly hyperbole. mostly.)
I completely agree with your sentiments. I really didn't like how shady the dark ritual was and it felt like it was something that was going to come back and bite everyone in the butt if the archdemon got a "get out of jail free" card. That's why I think the Alistair romance is like watching the Titanic -- you can see that iceberg coming and no matter how you try to steer your ship, you just can't avoid the collateral damage. I thought I'd have a loophole with the drunk Alistair ending with the hope of being reunited with him someday and tah dah, there's no aftermath of the dark ritual to haunt the relationship, right? Right? Pfft. Sheesh. That door totally slammed in my face with DA2. =pavalon30 wrote...
That's true, but for my Cousland who romanced Alistair, it felt too slimey not to kill the Archdemon for real. So Alistair died and that was really sad, but I tried the ending with the dark ritual and I just couldn't keep that save. The final "happy" scene just felt really disgusting and hypocritical to me.
I don't want that at all for the Mass Effect series. If the only way to have a nice romance ending with Kaidan is to screw over the rest of the galaxy-- well, that's not gonna cut it for me.
I have seen all the endings in Dragon age, and the DR really leaves me worried. The archdemon is still around, with Flemeth out and about to. Way to many risks to take for my liking.Gilsa wrote...

I really loved the ending of Mass Effect 1 where Shepard comes out of nowhere all triumphant and Kaidan just looks up with a grin, all proud of her. I want to save the universe and have my token armcandy adoring me. Please, no, scenarios like Spiderman where you have to choose between saving Mary Jane or a boatload of passengers with a bomb aboard. That's not fun. I dread this kind of tragedy, but my gut is telling me that I don't think they'd wrap up such an epic game on a disappointing note. That and there are too many romantic interests for them to write into that situation anyway. =p
