I remember when that pic was made, and they made up Kaidan's classification. It's a very cool pic, though, I like the inclusion of FemShep!

Hello New people!!!!

Okay I am the Night and I want to greet all you new people and welcome you to our thread.

There are links below in my sig that can get you to some interesting places for new Kaidan fans and old ones too...

Click on the KAAS  If you are a Kaidan fan come join us in the Kaidan Alenko Appreciation Society or the KAAS as we refer to it.  There is a WHOLE LOT OF FUN going on there, so join in!!!

I got sir'd by the C-Sec customs lady.

And speaking of the C-Sec customs lady, the asari she blocks from leaving suggest a mass of human Spectre candidates after humans gained power on the Council.  Considering ME2 was written from a "Council dies" standpoint, we may assume that there are going to be plenty of human Spectres being pushed through, if only because Spectres are above the law and good for humanity to have on their side.

Under those circumstances, I would be displeased if the VS weren't a Spectre candidate, if not a full Spectre by that point.

As for Kaidan's designation, I suspect he could make N7 between ME1 and ME2.  I don't know what his original designation is, but I suspect, between his not liking dead civilians and never having lost anyone under his command to combat, that it was a support role - probably still dangerous, but not front line stuff (at least, when he was picked up for the Normandy).

Just what I feel, though.

I'm wondering if they're going to try and play the 'Send VS after Shep' card in ME3-after all, after LotSB Shepard's definately given the council (even a paragon playthrough) enough ammo to get rid of them. Cue the option to get them to defect.

Kaiden was only a lieutenant in Mass Effect 1, the Normandy may well have been his very first assignment. To get a posting on a prototype warship (one the eyes of the Council on it no less) at that stage in his career… the Alliance brass must have seen great things in Kaiden’s future. 
 
They may have even been grooming him for the Spectres even then. After all, who would make a better potential candidate that the MARDET CO of Capt. Anderson and Cdr. Shepard?
 
That’s why I really like the character, Kaiden Alenko had so much potential, and such a bright future. When he died the tragedy was almost Sophoclean.

I don't think the SR1 was his first assignment. He's been given over a dozen special commendations and his dialog points to the idea that he's been around the block a few times.

Unfortunately, Fort, if you play a maleShep, you don't get that dialog, if you recall. Though Chakwas does mention the commendations.

@ Sia - I can't get my male Shep out of the mess hall after Eden Prime.  Kaidan won't talk to him.  I just can't accept that.

Could be, but I doubt it. Biotics being speshul and all.

I suspect that he joined through an officership program, possibly one specifically targeting wayward biotics.  (In one of the dialogues, not sure if it's romance specific, he almost implies that BAaT doubled as his basic training).

Personally, I suspected that he has around eight years under his belt to Shepard's ten at the time of ME1, but I can't prove it.

Now, SHEP could be a mustang. Especially Earthborn. But that's a different thread.

Kaidan is among one of the most experienced squad mates. For the most part only only a couple other people beat him. Kaidan is the most apt to replace Shepard against the Reapers if it comes to that.

Mustang: slang, usually only used in the Navy, I think, to describe an officer that came up through the enlisted ranks. I've only actually read it being used in David Weber's Honorverse.

I looked it up on the wiki, it says Kaiden, in 2173, “enlisted in the Alliance Navy and worked his way up to lieutenant…”   I’m voting for mustang.

Kaiden's rank is given as "Staff Lieutenant." That's not a rank in the Royal Navy/Marines or US Navy/Marines. Has anyone heard that before? The Alliance military must have a different rank structure.



I'm starting to suspect the Alliance Navy likes to rotate it's officers between Navy and Marine commands.

He's now a Staff Commander and it's not a rank used currently anywhere, either. Pretty sure they just made it up.



Not sure the Alliance makes the distinction between Navy and Marines. They're all Marines. Though I'm not sure how Joker fits into that.

I’m starting a play-thru of Mass Effect 1 to try and make Kaiden the Virmire survivor, but before I get too far into it, I have a question:



Did any of Normandy’s Marines, besides the liaison, assist Cpt. Kirrahe in the distraction attack?



I can’t find the answer anywhere, I’d appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.

No. There are only three Normandy Marines anyway, IIRC. Shepard, Kaidan and Ashley. That's kinda why you need the aliens.
