I guess it depends on what kind of renegade you play. I play the type of renegade that hates the Council but despises Cerberus openly. It might be even worse for Kaidan in this regard. Shepard caused him to change his mind about the goodness of the Council and he began to believe in the Alliance just as strongly as Shepard. Then she turns around and she's with a xenophobic group of terrorists that is the enemy of the Alliance.



Either way, she doesn't appear to be what she said she was in my universe.

that may be bacause the RTFM line is in the hotlabs on Noveria. i occurs if you ask Mira about the purge. best way of getting this line is with Kaidan and Liara in the group.

If I have a charming Shepard, I convince Samesh we need the body for further tests. (This goes particularly well if you have Ashley in your group.) If I do not have a charming Shepard, I scare the poor diplomat-guy-in-the-bar into giving up the body. 'Cause intimidating Samesh always seems nasty in a way most of my renegade Sheps aren't. I did do it once. And yes, I felt bad. Poor guy just misses his wife.

I too think TIM is the reason we're not together anymore and i'll hold to that till i have the chance to have my revenge to him personallly ..like.........i dont know..............tottaly ruin his sexual life.....just to make him see how it is (I would say ruin his love life but i doubt TIM can feel love)

And his look is creepy indeed.....i bet he regrets not putting any chips on my brain after all

Edit: i miss miss miss Kaidan. sometimes i regret having romasnced him coz i cant bear the lonelyness i feel in ME2 but i know deep in my heart that i cant have it any other way..........

That's a really interesting point and it makes me even sadder that the decision wasn't carried over to ME2.

Just watched the ME1 E3 Trailer and noticed it was Ashley who got left behind on Virmire. Was Kaidan ever shown in any promotional vids or pics at all? I did not know much about ME1 when I first got it, I just went blind and was lucky enough to find a new awesome game.

... yeah, Ashley was both the one left behind on Virmire and the one that Shepard slept with.

I don't even know how that works. 

If Kaidan was ever shown in promotional materials, I suspect it would have been incidental... like, gameplay footage with his name in the corner or something.

Much like Jacob in ME2 and Alistair in DA:O, Bioware has issues with allowing "leading" male characters into marketing trailers, much less screenshots.  Maybe they think their target demographic will freak out and boycott the game if they see a human male character that female characters might find interesting?  Who knows...

As for a renegaded Kaidan on Horizon, I think that would be very interesting to write about (since, you know, we would never see that in the game...=P).  I'd imagine he'd be just as angry and confused about Shepard working with Cerberus, he knows just as well as she does that they've harmed many more humans than they've helped in the past.

I really wish that renegading Kaidan / paragoning Ashley was one of the variables carried over to ME2, even if they didn't use it in ME2.  It would be very interesting if your interaction with them in ME3 changed based on what you did in the first game.  Sigh.  So many awesome opportunities wasted.

With most games, marketing will put the hero as male and have the female counterpart. As demographics go that they tailor this toward men as they are the majority of gamers. However, I do think they should have done both types of marketing as female gamers are gaining some ground over the years and it would be beneficial to add to their base. (ugh, my months of working for a small marketing firm at play)

For ME3, there are so many plots they can pick on. The books helped satisfy some questions but damn, I got out of them that there is still yet more to come. Especially with TIM and Anderson.With no mention of Kaidan in there, there is hope that he will be back! *crosses fingers*

^I remember thinking that when I watched the Sacred Ashes trailer. I thought "Okay, you have Morrigan there. She's important to the story whether people like her or not and she's the one with the boobs. Leliana is there too, another young female. But why Sten instead of Alistair?"
It's not that I don't like any of those characters, I love them all, but Sten being there instead of probably the most important squad memeber to the story confused me. Alistair and that Warden could of totally tag-teamed in that trailer. I thought maybe instead of showing such a younger guy(even the Warden looked pretty old), which Alistair is quite young, the older more rugged looking guy was chosen.

But even then, at least Alistair got his own character video and ultimately took the spotlight in most other character vids too.

Sometimes the world of marketing is too off for me to really think about it.

Just saw that pic on DA too. That mercenary armour (IIRC) looks great on Kai, but in general I think it suits Ash better. :-) Amazing picture, though. :-D
