Really quiet here this morning.
To question about facial hair: for me, during the discussion about landing on Ilos (it's not an option, it's a suicide run! We can't...) Kaidan looks like he hasn't time for shaving. I don't think it's because alternative texture, so it's either light on helm or my imagination
Well, before Ilos, he surely didnt have time to shave.

I have been thinking about Horizon alot these past few days, so here some random thoughts.
As other ppl mentioned before, Kaidan had to look angry to justify his walking away. Otherwise he'd had to follow Shepard. If he had time to think clearly at that point, he would recognise the need for actions. and im sure he then would definitely ask to rejoin with his Love/friend/ex com officer, with Anderson's blessing as well, coz why wouldnt both want to have a chance to observe closely Cerberus doings?
And apart from the need to be alive in ME3 there were to be other problems with him being a recruitable option as well. As if he was on the ship then Liara had to have the option to be there as well and she cant at the moment. And tbh i dont know how fair it would be for other players to strugle for their romance while we would have them back and we would have the option to continue with them.
Plus what you have mentioned that we wouldnt feel the need to romance anyone else and that would make the new LI writers unhappy

And frankly, i now feel that him being angry and turn his back to Shep is far more better to the reason Liara claimed she cant join her/him
I mean really, Liara, youre busy hunting shadows in the dark and searching for someone that was SB's prisoner for 2 years to save him even tho you dont even know if he's alive still? (and why the hell the SB kept Feron alive for 2 years? whats the point? )
That i can imagine was a hard slap on the face for Liaraas romancers. Harder than ours.
Anyway i hope i make sense (what a woman will do or think to justify what happened lol )
