Second, I like Miranda and Kaidan, too! Though he only has eyes for Shepard, I could totally picture him eyeing Miranda if Shep wasn't in the picture.

I don't really see Kaidan with Miranda.  I can picture him being attracted to her strong personality (as well as physically), but I don't think they'd mesh well in a relationship.  She's too high-maintenance.

Out of all the squadmates, I can most picture him with Kasumi.  She's adventurous, charming, and intelligent.  If he could get past her kleptomania, that is. 

Also... hi, everybody.  Long-time lurker but I rarely have anything to add.  But I romance Kaidan in every single ME1 playthrough, I just can't resist him!  The majority of my FemSheps are loyally waiting for ME3.

I have never been able to understand the attraction for Kaidan/Miranda. The entire point of his BAaT story is that /how/ you do something can be more important than what you're doing, while Miranda is absolutely an 'ends justifies the means' kinda gal. Plus the whole Cerberus vs Alliance, armor vs catsuit ideological differences.

(Not that I'm not potentially interested in seeing someone set it up, it just, doesn't work in my head so far.)

I actually kinda like the idea of a Jack/Kaidan pair, (post ME2, and only if Shepard was a good influence and encouraged the slightly less psychotic version of her) as he could sympathize with where she came from, and understand how easily that could've happened to him, or any other biotic kid he knew at BAaT. He's hard to offend, and he's tough enough to handle her lashing out at him. And they're both ridiculously gorgeous in their very different ways. *shrugs* It has potential. Maybe.

Realistically, from what I've heard of Kasumi she'd be a better fit, but I haven't played her mission yet, and I totally have a thing for Jack.

Personally, I could see Kaidan having a thing for Ashley.  I think he'd be good for Jack, and I think it could be similar to the Jack romance with Shepard (that he'd probably start off want to help her and not immediately want to sleep with her, etc).  Kasumi, for some reason, I think they could be good friends but not necessarily more than that.  I could see him with Liara, eventually.  I can't easily see him with Miranda, but I'm sure there are circumstances under which it would work.

... I can't really see him with Jacob.  Or Kelly.  He might get along with Samara, but I don't know if she's looking.

Since he's attracted to all sorts of Shepards, it can be hard to say.

There was a rumor going around that Kaidan and Ashley were supposed to fall for each other if Shepard did not romance either of them.



Much like Gabby and Ken were rumored romance options like Kelly in ME2.

I think only Ken was for female Shepards so there would be a male counterpart to Kelly.
We all know how that turned out.

I could honestly see Kaidan falling for Ash if FemShep wasn't around. He likes adventurous women, doesn't he? :-)



It's interesting that military regs make such a big no-no of romantic relationships, because I think that the call to serve a higher cause is very much something that unites Kaidan with a woman he might love. Plus the fact that one moves around so much must make it difficult to maintain longterm relationships with people on the ground. Making it so that people have to be under different commands in order to be able to share romantic relationships almost seems counterintuitive. I mean, Spacer Shep's parents show that it can work, but even still... Then a situation like Virmire comes up, and you realise that those regs exist for a reason. Imagine what the aftermath of Virmire would have been like if Shep wasn't involved with Ash or Kai, but they were involved with each other? *mind boggles*

But no.... Ash was in charge of the bomb at the time, that's what Teddy ordered her to do....but everytime she and Kaidan are together.....she thinks of Virmire.... and Horizon didn't help much

I'm having a hard time picturing Kaidan with someone as sexually aggressive as Jack or Miri. In my mind, he likes a girl who's in control but more of a tease and less "drop your pants and give me fifty!". That gives him time and pleanty of outs, plus a sense that it means something, which I feel he might need. Kasumi, Liara or Ash would be my pic.

You're right, there is no such thing as a useless fan.  And I think people are just fighting for resources as usual. We're all trying to get BW's attention, and some are just not thinking their strategy through.

It's easier saving Kaidan, he is the ranking officer and a powerful biotic after all. I saved Ash once, but even though I always romance Kaidan that was the first time I felt like I was being unprofessional and playing favourites.

I never imported that Shep to ME2. I just don't respect her as a leader anymore. And I hope I won't have to choose between Kaidan and the mission in ME3, that would just break my heart.

... In that same instance, it'd also make more sense to go back to the bomb to make sure it goes off, no matter what. The mission has to take priority. Plus Kaidan is the superior officer between the two.

Doesn't mean anyone has to like it.

They are both quiet, emotionally and mentally strong characters; both are very observant of the world around them. Also, post LoTSB, she certainly now qualifies as adventurous.

Ah, but Kaidan says himself he's not really into Liara, so I could never see them together.

And while I think it's reasonably true to say Kaidan is probably the type of person who would be a more considerate lover I've read fanfic that casts him very convincingly as someone who, erm, *ahem* likes to take control, shall we say.

No one else ships Kaidan and Kasumi (well after FemShep, of course)?  I guess she does have that torch for Jacob.  But I have this mental image of how their relationship would go that I have to get out:

Kaidan: Kasumi, have we always had that lamp?
Kasumi: ......yes?
Kaidan: ::raises eyebrow:: Uh-huh.

Ah, I only have one Dude!Shep save where he romanced Liara (I'm not a huge fan — don't kill me!), so perhaps that dialogue passed me by. In most of my playthroughs Dude!Shep is celibate, focused on the mission, although he hopes that one day he can get back in touch with Kaidan and, you know, see where that goes ...

One fanfic I just recently read was one of the funniest things I've ever read, made me genuinely laugh out loud, utterly absurd, but boy did Kaidan take control.

As I mentioned a couple of pages back, I'm writing my first ME fic (my first anything fic, in fact), based around the idea I had for what I'd like to see in a VS dlc. My Kaidan, in that story, is going to hopefully avoid some of the 'oh Kaidan, he's soooo sweeeeet' that might be the more obvious choice for him. Yes, he's sweet, and gentle, but ... well, I think there's going to be more to him than that.

Can I just say, this thread makes me feel so happy There can be such negativity on the rest of the boards.
