Kaidan's taken control from Avery quite a few times. It was fun to write. ;)

I'll be sure to check out your story then :D

A Paragon of Virtue.

Avery pushes Kaidan's buttons.  A lot.

Ooh!  I haven't gotten to post a Kaidan Hug in a while.

I feel like yes would be the appropriate response here.

I was referring to the "control" discussion though, so,option 2. :P

Well, yes, quite.

I guess with Kaidan I just want to have my cake and eat it (and lick it and .... *ahem* sorry, where was I ...)

Gorgeous hug!

And thanks for the link, I'll check it out over the weekend (I should be doing work rather than fandomming.)

So this would be a nice, friendly place to ask this (I hope):

Do you guys know if there are any ME RP places around? Late to the party as always *sigh* I just found a DA:O place that I'm going to try to get into, but it'd be pretty cool to find an ME one too. Someplace nice, with no trolls, natch.

(new to rp, by the way)

I'm having a hard time picturing Kaidan with someone as sexually aggressive as Jack or Miri. In my mind, he likes a girl who's in control but more of a tease and less "drop your pants and give me fifty!". That gives him time and pleanty of outs, plus a sense that it means something, which I feel he might need. Kasumi, Liara or Ash would be my pic.

One of Shep's renegade lines at the lockers is "drop and give me twenty."  Kaidan's response is a veritably amused, "Finally, a reason to enjoy physical training!"

But on Jack's romance path you have to reject her advances first, yeah?  It seems to me that it's not about the sexual agressiveness, it's about Kaidan himself only getting into it if his partner means something to him.  *shrug*

leggywillow wrote...

No one else ships Kaidan and Kasumi (well after FemShep, of course)?  I guess she does have that torch for Jacob.  But I have this mental image of how their relationship would go that I have to get out:

Kaidan: Kasumi, have we always had that lamp?
Kasumi: ......yes?
Kaidan: ::raises eyebrow:: Uh-huh.
::awkward silence::
Kaidan: I'm pretty sure we haven't always had the Mona Lisa hanging there, either.
Kasumi: [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie]

I want to, but for some reason they strike me as very good friends with the potential for hilarious hijinks together.  (I'm sure there's some way they'd work, I just haven't thought of it yet.)

Batteries wrote...

Strategically it would make more sense to have Kaidan with the bomb and Ash with the salarians. Kaidan is the techy guy and Ash has the brute force firepower.
... In that same instance, it'd also make more sense to go back to the bomb to make sure it goes off, no matter what. The mission has to take priority. Plus Kaidan is the superior officer between the two.

Doesn't mean anyone has to like it. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/blushing.png[/smilie]

I thought about it a while, and it works in the reverse, too: Kaidan as an officer should work well in a group and Ashley should be able to set the bomb because the salarians already rigged it.  Saving whoever is at the tower could prove important because, like the geth could reverse the bomb, the geth could also turn the tower back on and shoot down the Normandy.

There are also your own marines at the bomb site and the surviving salarians at the tower to consider.

... you know, now that I think of it, setting the bomb to go off no matter what sounds like an Ashley thing to do rather than a Kaidan.  I know it's interchangable, but...

Anyway.  My initial decision was ranking officer and the bomb had to go off (and my Soldier Shep makes good use of Kaidan's skills - he hadn't been off the team until that point)...  And I immediately reloaded an earlier save and played through all the permutations to see the differences, because I was like, "...what?" before moving on with my decision.  Now, my RP decision is pretty much the above + the marines (Shep's people, who I didn't know were there the first time).

Plus Shep always thinks she's gonna have the time to save Ashley.  :crying:

As much as it likes to kick me in the gut, Virmire is really well made.

Virmire is so sad because we have to make a decision knowing whatever we choose it will never be right. After all, why one of them has more right to live than the other? And it is so sad when returning to the Normandy Kaidan or Ashley says the other died because of the feelings Shepard has for the survivor... :(

I usually save Kaidan, in part because he is my fav character with Garrus, but also because in combat I find him more useful than Ashley and not only because he is the ranking officer. I never thought about ranks on Virmire, only skills. I like to play as a soldier so I never keep Ashley around.

Oh and btw mllrthyme, nice story. It is truly lovely :)

I change things up at Virmire quite a bit. I depends on my current Shep's priorities. I will admit to metagaming that part for the romance, and for the whole 'Kaidan is awesome' thing, but still.

I've heard the argument that Kaidan is techie so should stay with the bomb, but as has already been said, the bomb is primed, it's merely a case of making sure it's defended. Who'd be better at defending it? Well bot K and A are seasoned military: Ash has raw fire power and stamina, but Kaidan has his biotic and tech skills to use against the geth and krogan. I'd say it's pretty evenly matched to be honest.

That being said, I've always found it make more sense to send Ash with the salarian team, mainly because she's more gung-ho than Kaidan, and since she's already sort of on loan to the Normandy anyway, it kinda makes narrative sense in my head that she'd be okay joining another team. And salarians are squishy — they need the fire power :D

So invariably I leave Kaidan with the bomb and end up coming back for him, missing the further area of the facility altogether. In fact I think I've only gone that way twice, and that was when I sent Kaidan up there.

However, I do think that the end sequence is better when we see someone wounded, guarding the bomb, as we fly away. It feels like it was meant to be seen that way, because they're right by the source of their death, valiantly making sure it explodes, to the bitter end.

See, I'm all confused over which is better now >.<

There's a reason I'm way behind on my deadline at the moment — 2 days solid on fanfic sites. :pinched:

Ah, but Kaidan says himself he's not really into Liara, so I could never see them together.

He does say that to FemShep. He mentions Liara being "easy on the eyes" to MShep though, I believe.

Yeah, someone pointed that out. I don't think I ever get that line because all my dude!sheps are hot for Kaidan  So in my ME universe Kaidan isn't into Liara

Hmm...in a similar vein, who from the ME2 crew would Kaidan become good friends with? And who would he have a conflict with?

I would love to see party member banter in ME3, even if the characters don't get along. That was one of the best things about Dragon Age.

I think he and Samara might have some interesting things to talk about. He and the Cerberus personnel might butt heads occasionally but Kaidan really isn't a confrontational guy.

Also, I rediscovered the following screenshot from Jho tonight and promptly squeed all over myself:
