Yes, yes they are.

You know what would be a great idea for the special edition of ME3? A personal, life-size, real life Kaidan for each of us.

If I let my fiancé have a Samus Aran, I could keep a Kaidan.

I can handle that. :innocent:

Sorry I was late night surfing before.  I meant the possibility that the VS might be out of their head with grief if their family gets killed on earth or given how determined the reapers are, far-flung colonies.

Melindil (I won't quote your wall'o'text), I agree with you. I'm nervous about getting too hopeful, but this is the way I've thought about it all along. I'll be honest, as much as I'd like to see it, I'm not entirely sure we'll get VS dlc, not because the devs hate us, but because Ash/Kaidan's story is already mapped for ME3. And if that's the case then I'm happy to wait.

I could see it going both ways with the DLC.  I'm not sure where in ME3 that trailer is going to take place, at the beginning, in the middle or closer to the end.  But if it was at the beginning it would make more sense for the issues with the VS to already be resolved, whether the relationship is just friends or romantic.  And it would be weird for those of us Kaidan lovers to be trying to fix our relationship while all the other love interests are already on track.  It just seems that it would be out of place to be having to deal with such insignificant issues compared to the Reaper invasion, especially for those that didn't romance Kaidan or Ashley.

I really hope Kaidan gets the love and attention they gave to Liara.  I was really surprised that they didn't save the whole shadow broker thing for ME3 but now it makes sense.  To me it makes sense for them to resolve the issues between Shepard and Kaidan before ME3 starts.  Shepard is definately going to need the Alliance.

Now, given that, why would they do it to us a third time?  From a
writer's standpoint, it doesn't make sense.  We already had to face
killing the VS once, so I'm going to guess that it is unlikely that we
will see the VS die (though not impossible).  We had to deal with
Horizon and all that crap.  It would be stupid to kick us while we're
down, give us a sliver of hope, and then kill the VS and demolish
anything that hope gave us.  Besides, if I was a writer and I really
wanted to make an emotional impact on the player, I'm going to make a
well-loved character either betray Shepard, become indoctrinated, or
otherwise need to die; in that case, I would choose someone like Joker,
not the VS who, while many people have some attachment, isn't exactly
popular or well-loved.  It would be a, "Well, that sucked, but I can
move on because I still have my LI/other uber favorite character!"
(excepting those of us who love the VS).

This.

I'm going to stop lurking for like... 5 seconds and say this.

First off, I love Kaidan.  I adore him.  He is the sole reason I am as excited about ME3 as I am, and am currently not working on finals and am instead typing this out.  He makes me squeal like a little schoolgirl.

Secondly, why are you guys being so ridiculously negative?  I don't care what you say, Bioware is not known for letting its fans down.  Yeah, ME2 was like... lolwut?  And while they didn't have to do that to us, maybe that's how they wanted it.  For us to be chomping at the bit for ME3.  Bioware, or Casey Hudson stated that it was the "middle act of a romance" and that usually implies some sort of fight that leads to everything not being happy-happy.  So, I'd say that implied (if it wasn't an excuse, and I don't think poorly enough of Bioware to think they'd just be like uh... yeah, this is why) that Bioware did want you two to be in a fight/not on the best terms at the end of ME2.  What happens if they put them somewhere you could talk to them, or on your ship?  "Oh, hey, Kaidan."  "GTFO, I'm mad at you 'til ME3, Shepard."?  That wouldn't even make sense.

No, I don't think Horizon was overly well done, but the VS was not the focal point of ME2.  They were, in a sense, romantically the focal point of ME1.  Sure, Bioware was lazy.  Sure, the e-mail was a tad ridiculous.  But, it wasn't like they weren't in the game.  It wasn't like they died.  Jesse Houston told someone on this forum that the VS will be vital to ME3, and I remember specifically reading him saying that he "wished he could tell us more."  I don't think he'd say that if they were GOING TO DIE.  I mean, unless he just really hates us VS fans and was like "I wish I could tell them more so they'd all go jump off a bridge" which I highly doubt.  I don't know if I'm being too optimistic, but I don't think so.  You guys are so down on ME2, but it was the middle chapter and spending the middle chapter on things you developed in the first chapter is not what you do.

I think we got shafted in ME2, yes, but I wasn't surprised.  I knew there would be no sexy, make-out scene.  No adorable Kaidan/Shepard tidbits like in the first. But, the facts are that Casey Hudson has said that the VS(and Liara) was kept out of your party in ME2 so that they would be around in ME3.  Couple that with the fact that Jesse Houston said that he wished he could tell us more, and I just don't think it'll be all bad.  It might not be the epic romance conclusion that ends in marriage and little Shep and Kaidan Jrs running around, but I think we'll get our conclusion.  And we'll get our Kaidan.

I don't think we'll get DLC.  I guess I'm being negative about that, but I've seen or read nothing to indicate that we will.  It would be a nice bridge between ME2 and ME3, like Shepard being reinstated to the Alliance, but I just don't see it happening.  I do think the devs prefer Liara, or most of them, but we prefer Kaidan, and counltess psychotic 12 year old boys prefer Tali, everyone is entitled to an opinon and I don't think Bioware selfish enough to factor that in too tremendously.  Except maybe with LotSB.  <_<  But if they were notorious for doing that in their games, they wouldn't be as successful as they are.

Sorry, but the negativity was giving me a headache.  So, I had to put my two cents in.  I'll go lurk again now.

Anyway, I don't think the devs are forgetting about VS. I've seen some love for him from Christina Norman, if I recall correctly. Following her twitter is also a nice way to get some information on Mass Effect, and she seems to have interacted with Kaidan fans quite a bit.

Collider is very Kaidanish.  In fact, a lot of our male forumites are here.  You rock boys.:D

I still think(hope) VS DLC will happen.  I'm clinging to my LotSB being the lead up to the next DLC theory.  DLC in which Liara proves to the VS that Shepard was, in fact, dead.  Makes sense.  Liara saw the body for herself.  The VS should trust Liara.

I like it.  I'm sticking to it.:P

That ultimately sums up a lot of my feelings. :?
I do think Horizon dialogue was a bit derpy but made sense. The email was a little weak but it gave something to look into. But if the LotSB implied anything, I think it implied how ME3 was going to work. With the banter between Liara and Shepard and the more personal feeling it gave off.

I am sure it will be possible for the VS to have the POSSIBILITY to die in ME3, but I doubt they have a personal, scripted death just reserved for them.

I'm sure I've read really good fanfic with that storyline - that Liara convinces Kaidan Shep really was dead.

It is very awesome fic.
