So I was in a giddy mood and updated early. Who's up for some Kaidan love?

chapter 15 nsfw just to be on the safe side.

Sesh, this is the chapter you've been waiting for...

I really do wonder how Bioware will handle the initial meeting with the VS, though. :/

Obviously, not everyone romanced Kaidan/Ashley. Does anyone think Bioware will come up with some romance DLC where we get to set things right before ME3?

I'd love to have some VS DLC along the lines of LotSB, something leading into me3, but I'm not holding my breath. If the VS is sufficiently represented in me3 and those who remained true get some nifty romantic interactions, I'd be satisfied.

On all subsequent playthroughs, I have a fond little headshake at Kaidan's starting lines (although he does sound very witty).

Yes, but if we remember the very first lines:

Joker: I hate that guy.
Kaidan: Nihlus gave you a compliment. So...you hate him.

Yep, that's what I had in mind.

I remember my reaction to that, my first time playing:  "Hey!  That's Seth Green!"...and then, "Hey, that's Carth Onasi!"...and then, "Hey, can I romance both of them???"  :o

Okay, I agree with you there.  Kaidan's comment is right on the mark.  It's this light snarkiness that really appeals to me in his humour - add it to Joker's sarcasm and we get pure win.  Wish there were more scenes between the two of them.  (Sinvraal's fic has helped with that, of course.)

And what a delicious top-of-the-page image!  <3

Overlord DLC might be an indication of the implications of Shepard's cybernetic tech.

But that can be also an upside: interaction with David didn't make her loose her mind, it actually let Shepard understand him.

Ok. I'm not the only one who had this exact same train of thought!

I honestly liked Kaidan's intro in ME1 - how he was the voice of reason while talking to Joker. This carried throughout the game until Kaidan got melded into Ashley.

I was reading the character room discussions and i thought of something.....
I havent read Ash's email. Does Ash give a way out for the male Shep? As other ppl commented there, Kaidan's last words are a way out. And its tottaly Kaidan's char to do that. Maybe it's a way the writers use to make us go to the new LI. Does that excist on Ash's email? Coz i think if not, then, the writers did a good job on Kaidan by staying truth to his Char. And that gives us hope......
That or im hopelesly optimistic :)

Ashley doesn't look very Ash-like...

Also, I see no Kaidan :/

I thought the guy next to Ash is Kaidan. He is at least weaing Kaidan's Horizon armour:

It'd also make sense to give Kaidan the Horizon armour from the start as players will not be confused as to who is who once they start  ME2 with their "imported" Shepard - especially considering that the characters really look nothing like their in-game counterparts.

Well, got the same two pictures in better quality, I'm sure that's Kaidan on those frames.

Yeah, that has to be Kaidan. No one else was with them on Eden Prime, which I'm assuming that's a shot of.

You know, they should've done something similar for new ME2 players. I hate that if you don't import a character all the decisions are automatically made for you (with the exception of who was made Councilor). I thought we would get a chance to decide during the Q&A with Miranda at the beginning.

@Selenora: Ashley's letter is much less... restrained. If you ask at the Ashley thread, they can get you a copy, (I lost mine). It's very in character, quotes poetry and everything. :)

Sorry if someone has already posted this, but some people on DeviantArt are interested in doing a collaboration in support of our Virmire Survivor, much like that ubiquitous "Cure Thane" movement. If anyone's interestedf, here is the link.

I'm pretty sure, too.

I'm thrilled that Dark Horse Comics didn't decide to draw Kaidan in the Phoenix armour. Posted Image

Yeah, my husband read Kaidan's letter and goes, "Wow. He's way more harsh than Ashley was.  Your ass has been dumped, babe."

The letter is very open to interpretation, more so than Ash's. I see it differently, Sia, and don't think he "dumped" Shepard.

Yeah, I saw it as very "Kaidan-esque", while I'm not sure if Ashley's was completely in character.  Kaidan always wants to have a way out...and he has no idea what is going on with Shepard (he doesn't know about the suicide mission) and he doesn't know what hold Cerberus has over her.  So he's very cautious, even if she means a lot to him.

That being said, I really do want him to be less cautious in the last game.  The galaxy is about to be destroyed, this may be his last chance to be with Shepard...I don't want to have to feel like the romance has been completely reset, if I'm going to have the chance at all...

I agree with you, Teen.

It'd be nice to see Kaidan a bit more decisive - we already got glimpses of it in ME1 if Kaidan was encouraged to be more Renegade.

A complete reset will ruin the romance arc for me - what's the point of a trilogy then?

*shrug*  One sees it as dumping, one does not.  Two guesses which is which. ;)

I read it as Kaidan assuming that Shepard has moved on, and he's trying not to be hurt.
