So, we have to kill the person we love to have a chance to see him alive in ME3? Well, thats a very twisted senario even Bio is not capable to think.......right? RIGHT?????

It's possible that there will be a happy ending...

... but I bet there will be at least one more major kick in the pants before that happy ending comes to fruition.

Morrigan romance ended with her leaving no matter what. Witch Hunt didn't do much for it since you got a few minute cameo that didn't explain... anything, really.

Well, regarding the PS3 version I can see why they don't cater to VS fans. How many PS3 VS fans could there possibly be..? Cutting them out of ME2 for those who don't know them from ME1 is logical, Having Kaidan running around for 2 secs in Phoenix armour isn't going to create new fans either.

We just have to face it, ME2 doesn't have anything to do with the VS. They sat that one out. Everything we did get was fanservice. It could be the same in ME3, it could be different. I think it will be different, and I hope it will be different. But there's just no point in looking to ME2 (or ME1 for that matter) and the decisions made for that game for guidance regarding how this will end for the VS.

Important characters in ME1 were not necessarily important in ME2. Important characters in ME2 may not be important in ME3. Importance/treatment in one game says absolutely nothing about importance/treatment in the next. And sure we can try to read the signs, as long as we understand that in the end we'll just have to wait. There is no way of saying what outcome is most likely with this amount of data.

BTW, am I the only one who's really annoyed about the middle option often being the one making most sense in ME2? I just played Horizon, and choosing carefully I realized that there doesn't have to be yelling and accusations and stupid comments AT ALL. One or two paragon and the rest middle option and that exchange went rather well. But few people will play it that way because then you loose paragon/renegade points. Posted Image

Just a stupid joke, playing on the "Udina is always Councilor" thing from the books.  <_<

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Chignon played ME2 first and was intrigued by Kaidan from the intro.  So... it can happen?  Although it's probably pretty rare.  XD

Yeah, I take neutral a lot in ME2.  Particularly Horizon.  Not only does it skip the "I'm working with Cerberus/Cerberus isn't the bad guy!" stupidity, "The Alliance sent you here to investigate me, didn't they?" sounds almost in character for my Shepard.

I think that they always let Liara run to Shepard during the beginning of ME2 on the PS3 is only because it is easier for them, like a neutral option. If you ask Jakob in the beginning about your crew, he will not mention Garrus, Wrex or Kaidan/Ashley because it is possible that they will not be recurited or that they are dead. I suppose Bioware really did not think about this and the effect this could have on fans and just wanted to keep things easy.

The comic for the PS3 is way to short to get the ME1 characters really to know, you miss all the dialogue that you normally have during the whole game. It would be nice to have such a feature for Xbox and PC - for those who know ME1 it would be a nice tool to change some settings without the save game editor and see what is different in ME2 and you don't have to play ME1 again. I like ME1 but the side missions with the Mako are sometimes driving me crazy....

But back to Kaidan/Ashley: whatever plans Bioware has for the VS, they won't change it only for PS3 players, who miss the ME1 experience - there are still the Xbox and PC players. It is possible that Horizon is going to make players curious about the VS. And who knows? Maybe Bioware is playing less attention to the VS in ME2 because he/she is getting a big introduction and a big role in the beginning of ME3. It would be nice to start the romance new, if you decided to stay single in ME1.

Kaidan/Ashley is the important link to the Alliance. As Bioware is going to tell the story between ME2 and ME3 in further DLCs, I think it is quite likely that we will soon get a DLC that is focussed on Kaidan/Ashley, similar to the Liara DLC. The LotSB had really an impact on the players, I think many liked her more after the DLC. I suppose it will be similar with Kaidan/Ashley.

I hope this is the case.  It's absolutely insane to me right now how many people despise Kaidan and Ashley for Horizon.  It's like up is down, when their being loyal to the Alliance and rightly being freaked out by Shepard joining Cerberus, is treated like the worst betrayal.  I get really tired of all the bashing, especially from fans of other LIs who can't stop talking about Kaidan.  As far as I'm concerned, Kaidan didn't change over two years, but Shepard did something that was completely out of left field for an N7 Alliance officer.  Of course some people might play their characters as sympathetic to Cerberus...but what were they doing in ME1?  His actions made much more sense than Shepard's.  So, yeah, DLC that makes Kaidan and Ashley look good again would be very appreciated...even though some of the haters will never like him.

There will always be people thinking that only their decisions and their favourite characters are the only ones that matters. You can't really argue or discuss with them so in my opinion it is better to ignore them.

Horizon was quite a shock - I remember that after playing ME1 I was eager to see Kaidan in ME2, even for a small cameo. I think I selected most paragon choices and they weren't as good as the middle options (which I found out later) - too bad that you can't save after the battle to try different dialogue options. Seeing Kaidan rushing away was terrible - I think everyone who romanced him or liked him in ME1 had the feeling that there was nearly everything unsaid and unexplained.

On a later playthrough with a different Shepard I was only angry with him.

Of course it is understandable that he does not trust Cerberus and stays with the Alliance - it would be a betrayal on the Alliance if he would go with Shepard without the order to do so. But especially if you romance him, I missed something like an attempt to persuade Shepard to go with him to the Alliance, to clarify things, to rescue her from the influence of Cerberus.... ok the easy way would be to say the writer(s) messed the dialogue up but from Kaidans point of view I can understand that he is angry too - it is quite difficult to believe that after two years Shepard is alive and back again from the dead - and when Kaidan finds out that Shepard is indeed with Cerberus, it is understandable that he feels betrayed. But of course, as a player you see normally only your position and the player nows that Shepard was not able to contact Kaidan and has all the background informations.

I hope that Bioware really gives us players the opportunity to speak and clarify with Kaidan/Ashley of what happened on Horizon.. and more than.. "You know I am sorry about Horizon - let's forget it and start from new" and "Yeah ok I agree"....

Oh my - that is *gorgeous.*

And Teen, I agree with your post completely. It does get tiring to encounter all the negativity, particularly among those whose tone makes it clear that they'll take any excuse to dislike Kaidan more. Then again: not everyone is going to like the same characters. If something about him rubbed some people up the wrong way from the start, I guess that's just life. But thankfully we can appreciate his awesomeness. :-)

I've only ever seen a couple of mShepxKaidan pictures/art ... does anyone know of anyone who draws/creates them?

(I've seen the one of them both shirtless standing several miles apart :D, and the line-drawn pic of them kissing.)

just use the search feature on deviant art and make sure you search under fanart.   you'll find a lot of stuff.  i think one of the girls also started a Shenko groups on that site.
