As for the BAaT stuff, I was unclear in my response, and I apologize for that. I do sort of wish that he'd explained why he still served in the Alliance despite this, though.

I did not know that "standing out" meant having a personal issue that absolutely needs to be dealt with by Shepard while s/he is trying to defeat the Reapers and save the galaxy. To me Kaidan stood out because he did not have any issues with himself and the world around him.

And he does explain his motivation to Shepard. He says, " I just want to do some good. See what's out there".

Hahaha.. That's great! Posted Image I actually got ME2 before ME1 myself, so I'm even more crazy (yup, liked him from Horizon).

But I've never had a Horizon as good as this last one, chose 2-3 paragon and the rest middle option. Perfect.

And I get that people might see him as bland, they could still have given him a chance and just doesn't like him. I like the strong silent level headed types. He's just my type of guy. May not be everybodys.

By the way, why is there no images of Kaidan in a santa outfit?? It's almost christmas, after all! Posted Image
Merry christmas to those of you who celebrate it, and to the rest have a good couple of days!

I think that he and Ashley do that to an extent, but I also think both of them join the Alliance to prove themselves to others.

I don't think they have personal issues like Thane or Samara; they're confident enough in their abilities and know that they can contribute to the greater good of the galaxy.

But both of them have stigmas from others.  Kaidan's an L2, implants which have horrific side effects.  Ashley's been noted as General Williams' granddaughter, the only person to surrender to the turians.

I think both of them were stubbron to an extent and wanted to prove to the world that they are better than the labels the world gave them.  That's why they joined the Alliance.

Edited for grammar mistake.  Dx

Not his fault tho that he has no side quest, is it?
Actually i love him for that. That he has no ambitions other to serve the Alliance.

But he doesn't even seem personally committed to or passionate about that (until Horizon, anyway), it's just a job. To me, he seems a bit like a generic grunt who hallucinated that I was giving him signals.
It's not that I dislike him, I just don't find him terribly engaging. I also suspect that Ashley is in a way the "canon" VS, with the way Horizon was presented (Phoenix Armor, Kaidan trying to shoot seekers with an assault rifle of all things instead of using his biotics, etc.).

I love Kaidan, played ME1 four times and romanced him everytime.  I've played ME2 four times and tried romancing the other guys and NOT.  Kaidan is a military guy.  He's to the point, smart, independent and compassionate about the cause and if you played ME2, you can obviously tell that he is passionate about femShep.  Granted there are less females who are gamers than males but that is changing as we, who grew up in the 70s with Atari, people are going back and finding our gaming roots and are spending our free time playing rpgs.

To me Kaidan is one of the most interesting characters in the game. He is not a stereotypical macro man, he is not eaten up with revenge or grief or some other cliche character plot. Yes, his personality was define by his time in BAat making him cautious and careful. Yet at certain moments in the game you can catch him making jokes. For example the Jaws reference about 'needing a bigger boot.' Or the 'RTFM' line. Or extranet fetish site. His character really can't be defined in a few words. Like Miranda is a femme fatale or Joker is a jokester. I think that some don't have the patience to look deeper into the character besides what the game tells them. Which is a shame since he is one of the most romantic and charming characters in Mass Effect.

EDIT: Oh yeah the RTFM video is AkodoRyu's correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't know if anyone responded to this, if they did, I apologize.

He mentions in your first conversation with him, in the mess, that he's a career Alliance man because "Biotics aren't restricted, but we sure don't go undocumented.  Might as well get a paycheck for it."

I do wish he went into it more, though.

He's giving up a chance for a "normal" life.  Spending your prime years in space, in sleeping pods, eating rationed food, and potentially getting killed in combat?  You would need to be serious about it to even consider, let alone do that for a career.

Maybe he would've liked to have a normal life, but BAaT took that away.  But it sounds like he's come to terms with it, even if he does wistfully reminisce occasionally.

So random question...on Omega when you go up to the guy fixing the gunship, what happens if you don't choose the renegade option? Is it harder to bring down the gunship?

Now, back to Kaidan. The first time I played, I was clueless to Bioware's games, meaning I had no idea you could romance someone. Kaidan's voice is what caught my interest first, then, as I began getting to know him, I started really falling for him. Once I realized I could romance him, I was like "HELL YEAH!".

He is just so calm and collected...sometimes even the voice of reason for one of my semi-renegade Shepards.

In essence, it all comes down to one line: "You haven't had the easiest life, but I like the man it's made you". And, yes, I have all of the conversations with Kaidan memorized, lol.

Yes.  It's got less sheilds if you electrocute the batarian, IIRC.

These are close to my thoughts, as well. He did it because he thought he wouldn't be accepted anywhere else. I'm probably not stating it right, but yeah.  Playing with the cards you're dealt, I guess.

Kaidan's motivation is to do some good. Personally, I'm down with that.

Admittedly, I like the normal people more than I like the stand out people. I guess because the normal people I feel I could be friends with. Kaidan seems like he'd be fun to hang out with on a lazy Saturday afternoon, playing video games or watching old sci-fi.

That's what I'm down with.

In my opinion, it seems to be hard to find people like that now. :pinched:

I was also wondering... Anyone think it's possible Shepard can't have children after being rebuilt?

Is it possible?  Yes.  Is it likely?  No.  Can my Sheps have children?  Yes.

I've only ever seen a couple of mShepxKaidan pictures/art ... does anyone know of anyone who draws/creates them?
(I've seen the one of them both shirtless standing several miles apart :D, and the line-drawn pic of them kissing.)

I don't know how to do links, but you can cut and paste this:

http://ladywinde.dev...allery/24961852

She does the most beautiful drawings of Kaidan. She's also drawn some 'sekrit' ones, but I don't think they're on Deviant. I'm sure Jho or someone else has them, though. If I remember right, Jho actually has an album loaded with Kaidan artwork and screenshots. Keep asking; someone will PM them to you (I don't have them or I would, sorry).

How's the Loved update coming along? *wonders what would qualify as an appropriate bribe*

OK... now Alice is after me for Loved.  And Sapphy and Jilly are threatening to tie me to a chair till I finish my original novel.

I think I should run, now.

I've thought about this, but I doubt the game will ever address it.  I'm really hoping that babies, especially hybrid babies, are not part of the ME3 ending.

Miranda probably knows for sure.  Which could make for some awkward conversations.

Liara is the only one I can think of that can have offspring with Shepard, as far as I know. If Shep is sterile, that is, with that whole asasri embrace eternity stuff.
Hybrid babies would... Just wouldn't work.
