Another Jho classic. I was actually frapping a bunch of combat footage of Kaidan not sucking and was going to make a montage of his badassery, unfortunately I don't think I'll be getting any time to do that anytime soon.

You know, my brain removed the "r" from "frapping" and that post took on a whole new meaning.

That aside, that sounds awesome.  I love combat!Kaidan.

I use to think kaidan weren't good in combat but that was me assuming before I actually used him properly. Just thought soldier vs biotic, soldier will be better. I love making him fling enemies around. Its only ever him, Garrus and Ashley on my team. He's not so much fun for me when I'm a biotic too though, but in the end he still gets stuck on my team.

Really hope ME3 gives my Sheps their boys back!

I used to have biotic wonder squad.  Myself, Kaidan, and either Wrex or Liara.  It got annoying though because when everyoen was level 60 I never got a chance to shoot anyone.  I'd storm into a room and everyone would be floating on the ceilng.  And I'd be like, "Dammit guys, just once I would like to use this Spectre Shotgun."  And then I'd lose patient and go with brute squad; myself, Ashley, and Wrex.:D

I use him especially if I'm a biotic. I have this 'technic' I like to call 'lift and separate'. I have Kaidan lift, then I use push or vise versa. If it doesn't kill them the first time, just switch and repeat. Add Wrex to that mix and nothing can touch you.

That's much cooler sounding than my technique, "lift over railing or conveniently placed cliff."

Question.
How hated was Kaidan in previous forum?
I didn't get Mass Effect 1 until April last year( do to sh*tty PC) so I didn't visit Bioware forums and I heard recently Kaidan was hated a lot.

I had no idea until after ME2 came out that people hated Kaidan. Which I found bazaar and weird, since me and my best friend (who is straight male) love him. Love interest or not he is one of my favorite characters.

After that forum it feels weird and bazaar that I can say I like Kaidan without someone jumping in with a line from that bingo square.
That bingo is hilarious. Sad people have actually used them. =/ I think the one I find the most ridiculous is "didn't want a threesome"....Wow...Just...Wow.

For every character you will find people who don't like them. That is ok.

But unfortunately, there seem to be always some people, who like to hurt others, just by bashing their favourite chars.

I think a main reason for this is just to hurt feelings, like verbal vandalism - you can easily see this because these people are never discussing the character that they insult, they don't even care that their "accusations" are sometimes clearly not true and easily to disprove or just ridiculous. So it is either to intentionally hurt people and/or just a sign of poor education.

So - yes there may be indeed some odd things about Kaidan (currently his hairstyle comes in my mind... Image IPB) - as for every other char (including Shep) too.. but that doesn't matter...the important thing is that everything should remain polite.

So - forget about the past, here is a Kaidan for you:

I have a question about Kaidan in ME1: in the ME wiki I read, that Kaidan tells Shepard that his L2 implants spike higher than the L3s, except Shepards implants (Wiki reference).

I don't understand why it was necessary to add that Shepards implants are stronger, why can't Kaidan be a better biotic than Shepard? In ME2 Samara and Jack are better than Shepard, too, so why not Kaidan? Or maybe I understand it wrong.
But the question I wanted to ask is - has anyone of you got this dialogue with a femshep? I never got this line from Kaidan (even while playing an adept), so I was just wondering about that....

Lol. I too had the same problem...sometimes i was even getting killed from watching geth flowing in to the air while i was trying to shoot them and trying to figure out where they whould land, not paying attention to the other enemies :)
But still, it was Kaidan and Liara/Wrex till the very end :)
and about the haters: i dont need to deal with teenagers.....really...i dont pay any attention to them....i just wait them to grow up :)

It's a dialog option that's supposed to appear with a romanced Adept Shep.  BUT I've heard of it appearing in other instances and then not appearing at all.

I don't know why Shepard was made to be stronger/just as strong as Kaidan, but weaker than Jack.  They'd better not make Miranda or Jacob or even Thane as strong as Kaidan, that's for sure.

(Liara and Samara would spike higher than both for obvious reasons.)

I think that in ME1, the writers were more concerned with reassuring the player that they were "the best" at whatever they do.  Or, they wanted Kaidan to appear modest.  In ME2, we are recruiting "the best" for this mission, so stroking the player's ego doesn't matter as much any more.

I also think that Kaidan was written, even for characters who don't want to romance him, to tell the player about the "typical" human biotic.  Kaidan is unusual in that he is a stable L2, but he's also something of an "everyman" in many ways too.

Beyond all of that, I think that both Kaidan and Jacob, as "leading male humans" had the job of not being "better" than a male Shepard...going back to stroking the player's ego.

I don't think you CAN get it as FemShep.  I've done a lot of exploring in the dialogue trees trying to find it, but I've never succeeded.  I think I read somewhere that it's ManShep only but I could be remembering it wrong.

As for the strength, I always thought it spoke more to the tech aspect of implants and the differences between L2s and L3s and how a person's individual ability can contribute to some of the variance.  I do see what you're saying though.  It also seems like it is meant to point out that Kaidan is above-average in his abilities when it comes to human biotics.

I got it on Avery (Adept).  I did not get it on Meghan (Vanguard).

Here is how I see it, all human biotics are at different levels of talent, regardless of what implant they have. Implants don't really make you more or less powerful just help you with you ability to channel that power. Think of it as a dam letting water through. There can be a lake on the other side but if the dam doesn't let it through it doesn't matter. Same if there was a puddle of water, you could have to dam wide open and it wouldn't do any good. But Kaidan really is one of the most powerful human biotics. I believe, one of the squadmates compares him to an asari in one of the elevator chats. Remember Shepard's team are the best of the best.

Jack is probably one of the most power human biotics, followed Shepard, Miranda is probably somewhere between Shepard and Kaidan, Jacob is an 'average' human biotic. Most Asari are much more powerful then any human biotic. Biotic potential is different species to species.

EDIT: you can only get that dialog if you are not romantic with him. It is a bug that he says it no matter if you are a biotic or not.

Is the bug platform specific or does it occur on the PC and 360?  Because that Adept wasn't romancing anyone. She was created for achievement-farming only.

I actually don't know, *blushes* I haven't been able to get through a playthrough without romancing Kaidan. I'm weak, very very weak.

Anyways here is some biotic talks:
Kaidan about Shepard being more powerful.
Garrus talk about Kaidan.
I think there is another one where someone actually says Kaidan is as powerful as an asari but I can remember who. But Kaidan has the same reponse to them.

And just to throw this in, I think it's kind of ironic considering what happen on Horizon

I wonder, did the Soldier in question have a biotic Bonus Power? That may be what flagged the "Shepard is biotic" tag.

I haven't been able to get the Kaidan Biotic Shepard dialogue, not for lack of trying.  But I think when Kaidan talks about biotic spikes, it might be important to remember that, at the time of it going into record, he was probably holding back and/or out of practice.  It's only after Eden Prime that he's "not holding back anymore" and suddenly starts to grow (apparently exponentially) in terms of biotic power.  I think he hasn't hit his potential yet.

And when they talk about him being as powerful as an asari (which is variable - some asari aren't good biotics), they specifically mention him as being as powerful as an asari commando, for whatever difference it's worth.

So, while I can see him as being less powerful than an Adept Shepard or a Biotic Shepard who has more practice at the start of the game, I think he might eventually surpass that.

But then I play a soldier Shepard.  There, it doesn't come up (since the romance is involved and she is not an adept, I guess?  Or I haven't been lucky), so he might well be the most powerful human biotic known (up until ME2, where apparently human biotics are no longer rare and lack the same amount of stigma).

Anyway, there's my early morning biotic Kaidan rambling.  Have a biotic!Kaidan:
