Yeah, If he makes her feel like she can take on the whole galaxy then she really is looking to him for support. That's the reason I don't get the people that think Shep is unflappable. I guess I get that it's role playing but if you choose to pursue the relationship with Kaidan especially playing paragon she pretty much admits that she needs him. I mean the choice itself seems to define the role your playing.

Agreed. This might just be my imagining things, but I somehow got the distinct impression that the Kaidan romance actually goes through several.. well.. stages, I suppose - the way it starts it seems that he has an interest in Shepard and she picks up on that and it starts off on a rather playful tone. As things progress, though, more and more things end piled up on her shoulders and he seems to be the one person who notices enough to tell her not to let it get to the point where she's crushed under the weight. Towards the end, it's serious simply because he's been there for her in a way no one else has.

To be honest, in retrospect I don't mind Horizon so much; it would've been great to shout back at him and have a bit more of a quarrel, but thinking about it I think the whole encounter was a bit too much of a shock for Kate in the least to process it properly. After all, on her end she told him to get into an escape pod, then fell into space, then woke up under attack from robots; as much as people say it's been two years, I'm not sure she really ever had the time to emotionally process the fact 'til Kaidan hits her in the face with it.

I admit all of this might just be in my mind as well since it's not exactly like BioWare speaks it out loud, and it's a bit of a stretch that you can't reply; on the other hand, the scene of Shepard staring at the picture somehow seemed to speak volumes.

I can't see how it wouldn't be turned into something in Mass Effect 3, seeing all that.

And.. (ye gods, this is really turning into one huge quote fest..)

To be honest I'm not so sure that she has processed the fact that it's been two years since the Normandy went down. Being busy with the collectors more than likely has kept her occupied enough that she hasn't had to deal with it yet at least if you're playing faithful to your LI. If a person cheats they could argue that their Shep had moved on and dealt with it...again the choice determining the role your playing.

When she talks to Joker about Kaidan she says time is not all she's lost and that she's sick of this garbage...I think it's her way of saying she want her life back but she really hasn't got time to deal with it at that moment. I kind of think that Kaidan and Shep reconciling in ME3 will go a long way in helping her be able to deal with the time she's lost and heal a lot of wounds with both of them...sorry I'm rambling.

So here's a question. How do we all think Kaidan's promotion is going to effect the dynamic in the relationshi?. And dang....two ranks in two years? His MOS field must be hurting like a mofo. Or he's just that good...

EDIT: Yes Fort, Mich...I left that open ended at the end just for you

Random: I'm ready to punch the cover system in the face. No, I do not want you to crouch. I want you to go over the barricade so that I don't die. And now I can't see. Thanks, heroin track marks!

I know what you mean! Sometimes I'll be running to another cover spot further up and it puts me into cover right in the line fo fire on a closer spot I didn't want to stop at! Ugh.

While I'm complaining... what did you guys think of the leveling system... I had so many unused points it was just silly.

The thing I find annoying is when your squadmates come & stand directly in front of you when you are obviously shooting at something/someone, then they have the gall to rant at you for shooting them - don't stand in front of me when I'm shooting, moron.

I think I actually prefer the leveling system from ME1, I tend to use up all my Sheps points but I always have 1 or 2 points left over on all my squadmates.  Never thought I would miss the Mako either but scanning gets old after about the 10th planet.

Glad you said that (about the squadmates).  I get so annoyed with them at times (last night Grunt must have run in front of my Shep about 10 times) that I'd like to make it hurt or at least be able to answer back (well, then stay out of the way dumba**!)

Hahahaha...my husband, who is monopolizing the Kaidan machine right now, is mocking his squadies for just this thing right now.  "Get out of my f@&$* line of fire you (*#&%*(@&"

And I've also noticed that Miranda's "I've been hit" sounds are kinda...well they sound a bit orgasmic....

Serious answer: I don't think it'll effect too much. He's a good guy and I could see him wanting to make things a joint effort rather than pulling rank. I wonder if this is where the cheating thing comes into play; the ship mood becomes tense perhaps.

Also, Staff Commander Alenko commands the staff well.

I'm not too scared of changed PC specs for ME3, but I did just drop a bunch of money back in October after my last PCs motherboard decided to die. It was just easier to rebuild brand new than replace the motherboard and processor on the old machine.

I had big plans to upgrade my computer in readiness for DAO & ME2, but I only got as far as a new graphics card.  Unfortunately going through a divorce at the moment so lawyers are eating up all my spare cash, plus the fact that my 17 year old was going to die if his computer wasn't upgraded to an all singing, all dancing machine - he even named the thing sovereign, lol.  Hopefully mine will get an upgrade before ME3 - luckily my 17 yr old is a computer whizz/nerd so he can build me one if I buy the parts, that way I get exactly what I want.

I did upupgrade my computer for DA:O but I kept ME on the xbox largely because I had a lot of difficulty with the computer version.  I had issues with the authentication process, game lagging (I mean constantly so that speech or movement were impacted regularly) and also with the game freezing up constantly.  It still does this although DA:O runs beautifully.   Go figure.

I tried to imagine what it would be like to go to bed some night and then wake up, thinking it was the next morning and everything was okay, only to find out that it'd been over 2 years and everything I'd ever known or cared about was either gone or strewn across the galaxy...granted going to bed is obviously a lot different than being sucked out of an exploding spaceship and essentially dying, but well ya' know...

To say that I'd be shocked, scared, upset...is an understatement...

I agree with what you said about her likely not having really processed the fact that she's been gone for 2 years...with everything that's been happening, IMO Femshep hasn't had the time at all to sit down and really come to terms with the events surrounding her "death"...I imagine to her it wasn't even really death, but it felt like she was waking up after a long nap and then thrown instantaneously back into saving the galaxy...there hasn't been any real time to process the events and it's one of the things I tell myself when I get to the Horizon scene and am trying to come up with some sort of explanation as to why she speaks to him like a complete goober...

I like to roleplay that she's all torn up inside and seeing him in the flesh just brings back so many feelings, passions ,memories, etc...that she's momentarily struck stupid...one moment where her normal composure starts to crumble and it's hard enough to make sense of her thoughts, let alone her words.

I also totally agree that Nhani summed up how a lot of us feel regarding Shep's and Kaidan's relationship...He was probably the only person who really saw her for her, for the woman that she was, not the image that she represented...Shep wasn't an iconic hero of the galaxy to him, she was just Shep and he loved her...

In a galaxy where everyone expects Shep to come riding in and save the day, beat impossible odds and ever remain the hero/image of human perfection....it's just so refreshing to see that there was/is one person out there who saw past all the hoopla to the heart/soul of the woman underneath.

note:  I messed up a bit...that was Michelle7 that I quoted...argh need more coffee....

I notice with a lot of people's dead XBoXs, they never dusted them

Everyone in efforts to keep everyone's Kaidan from being burned in a red ring of death, please keep a can of air next to your XBOX and use it regularly.  You see, an XBOX is essentially, a computer.  A computer's native environment is 0 degress Kelvin, where superconduction allows it to run at optimum efficiency.   However, in order for us to enjoy Kai Kai goodness, the XBOX has had to adapt to a newer, warmer environment.  And adapt it has.  However, continuous build up of dust blocks the air flow its adaptive fans create to cool the XBOX in the human habitat.  Thus frequent dusting is essential the health and well being of your xbox.It much less hassel than having to get your XBOX replaced.

This PSA was brought to you by KAAS.

And good morning everyone.  Yeah, I know it's late.

Thank you Chem light!  I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't thought about this (I do think about it with my computer and actually  have an extra fan installed.)  I've been noticing my xbox spluttering after it's been running for a while.  Am going for the air can right now!

I think he is probably credited with saving the people on the Normandy. It was certain missions that landed Shepard her promotions...Acuze...Torphan...they made her stand out. I figure the Normandy did that for him.

As for the dynamic of the relationship...I hope we get some playfulness out of it. I think it would be cute if Kaidan asked something intimate of Shep and she responded with "is that an order?' Kind of reminds me of the reversal in Star Wars...where Leia tells Han Solo she loves him and he says," I know." and then in the next movie he tells her that he loves her and she says "I know"...if I'm remembering that correctly.

That is if Shepard is reinstated.

Yeah, I meant more that for however much she's intellectually aware it's been two years, Kaidan is likely the first real emotional slap in the face about just how long it's really been and how much she's missed. Tali, Garrus, Wrex, Anderson.. it's like seeing good friends again, and it could just as well have been two weeks as it could've been two years. With Kaidan.. it really strikes home, especially since Shepard really doesn't have time to deal with it because she has a mission to accomplish.

In a way, that works to excuse how she doesn't contact people either - not only hasn't she really had time to really emotionally trigger that they've been gone (or that she has been), nor does she really have the time to work it out. To take a nudge from one of the dialogues with Kaidan (about the death of Ash, actually), she'll get the mission done first and save dealing with the loss for when she has time.

Winging it a bit, perhaps, but yeah. I definitely agree this is all good setup for Kaidan getting a space to sort everything out and letting our collective Shepards come to terms with everything. I'd be somewhat disappointed if BioWare doesn't pick up on the opportunity for the third game.

Yeah, I guess it would. I would have thought that Ash would have beaten Miranda though.

Not sure, always felt like Ash just isn't understood by a lot of men. Which is sad. Where people jump on the bandwagon calling Kaidan whiney, they call Ash a racist. Further more a lot of people don't get the Horizon scene and are rather...dunno...offended almost at Shepard taking some heat.
Add to that the fact there are a LOT of players playing ME2 without having ME1 and I'm sure that's where the popularity for Miranda kicks in.
It seems some of the Miranda fans are actually Yvonne fans, that's another thing Ash doesn't have, gorgeous actress backing.
Or perhaps they just dislike the female soldier type as much as they dislike the sensitive sentinel...who knows.

*sighs* It's hard to compete with ME2 LI's who got a lot more PR behind em than the original ones ever had, even when ME1 was being hyped. I would love to see all ME1 LI do better, but with the small role they play in ME2 it's a tough cookie.

I think it's going to get them more on the same level, they were already as equals by the end of ME1 or so the pre-love scene conversation leads me to believe. But the rank and the experience Kaidan has most likely gained will just solidify it, and I expect their conversations to be on an equal terrain and maybe more playful if Kaidan is happy with you, or more in your face if he's not so happy...
