Yeah, I guess it would. I would have thought that Ash would have beaten Miranda though.

Not sure, always felt like Ash just isn't understood by a lot of men. Which is sad. Where people jump on the bandwagon calling Kaidan whiney, they call Ash a racist. Further more a lot of people don't get the Horizon scene and are rather...dunno...offended almost at Shepard taking some heat.
Add to that the fact there are a LOT of players playing ME2 without having ME1 and I'm sure that's where the popularity for Miranda kicks in.
It seems some of the Miranda fans are actually Yvonne fans, that's another thing Ash doesn't have, gorgeous actress backing.
Or perhaps they just dislike the female soldier type as much as they dislike the sensitive sentinel...who knows.

*sighs* It's hard to compete with ME2 LI's who got a lot more PR behind em than the original ones ever had, even when ME1 was being hyped. I would love to see all ME1 LI do better, but with the small role they play in ME2 it's a tough cookie.

I don't know....it's like you said earlier...it seems as if Kaidan is ahead of all the other female LI's at least on the forum.

As for Ash and Miranda...they both don't like aliens very much...but I think you're right about the Yvonne fans playing the game...Chuck's ratings have even improved this season. Of course my husband said Miranda doesn't look anything like Yvonne. I was just playing the Eden Prime mission again and I was struck by how much more attractive Ash seems than Miranda to me. Just my personal opinion but Miranda looked harsh in comparison to the softness that Ash had.

So here's a question. How do we all think Kaidan's promotion is going to effect the dynamic in the relationshi?. And dang....two ranks in two years? His MOS field must be hurting like a mofo. Or he's just that good...

EDIT: Yes Fort, Mich...I left that open ended at the end just for you

Honestly, I don't think it will matter all that much...since the new Normandy isn't an Alliance vessel, his rank wouldn't make much of a difference technically speaking unless they or you (depending on the choices we're given in ME3) make it so Shep goes back to the Alliance, or temporarily allign yourself with them against the Reaper threat.

I've no doubt that she'll respect his promotion and ensure that the rest of the crew does as well (I can see her telling the new crew that his orders are to be followed just as well as hers would be)...Kaidan strikes me as a really humble sort, I don't believe that he'd pull rank on either Shep or anyone else unless it were absolutely 100% totally the ONLY way to get things done...

As far as their romantic relationship goes, I doubt it would really affect it all that much....they're still Shep and Kaidan after all...I guess it really depends on what sort of plot developments will come out in ME3...the only way I could really see it affecting their relationship is if Kaidan and Shep rekindle their romance and he is forced to choose between his career/duty to the Alliance and his relationship with Shep...ugh let's hope it doesn't come to that

I notice with a lot of people's dead XBoXs, they never dusted them

Everyone in efforts to keep everyone's Kaidan from being burned in a red ring of death, please keep a can of air next to your XBOX and use it regularly.  You see, an XBOX is essentially, a computer.  A computer's native environment is 0 degress Kelvin, where superconduction allows it to run at optimum efficiency.   However, in order for us to enjoy Kai Kai goodness, the XBOX has had to adapt to a newer, warmer environment.  And adapt it has.  However, continuous build up of dust blocks the air flow its adaptive fans create to cool the XBOX in the human habitat.  Thus frequent dusting is essential the health and well being of your xbox.It much less hassel than having to get your XBOX replaced.

This PSA was brought to you by KAAS.

And good morning everyone.  Yeah, I know it's late.

Thank you Chem light!  I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't thought about this (I do think about it with my computer and actually  have an extra fan installed.)  I've been noticing my xbox spluttering after it's been running for a while.  Am going for the air can right now!

Haha...I'm a bit of a nerd...or so people tell me.  I built the computer I'm using right now.  And it's always amazing the amount of damage small, simple things can do.

I don't think it'll change all that much - I do like the already given suggestions that there might be some fun flirtatious jokes being nudged around and it'd be fun if Kaidan could turn some jokes back on you with it.

All that said, I think Shepard is becoming less and less Alliance Military and more Spectre or even Supreme Heroine of the Entire Galaxy, making her more of a symbol or an icon than someone who holds a direct rank. I'm getting the feeling if Shepard's reinstated in alliance military, it'd probably be more symbolic at best, like honorary shiny title for saving the galaxy.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Kaidan(/Ash) end up being the Alliance Military contact for the third game.

OMG! Not just Jacob but Garrus does this all the time and sometimes Miranda. And they have the gall to be like "It's ME Shepard.." Or Grunt just calls you an idiot... lol And I'm thinking.. Don't run in my line of fire you suicidal maniacs!

I always had an extra issue with Garrus sometimes since not only did he like to run in front of me, if we were fighting Blue Suns he liked to suddenly appear out of nowhere, usualy cuz he ran ahead, and I would see turian in blue armor and fire at it before I realized it was him and not another bad guy.

Haha....in ME1 I always used to have this problem when I brought both Garrus and Wrex with me, Garrus would get stuck behind Wrex and continuously shoot him in the back.

I made up a little side story to myself about how they'd gotten into  a scuffle in the garage.

Caught up fully. yay!

I too have been having the xbox problems. My DVD drive has finally kicked the bucket. The spindle motor died and won't spin anymore (and thanks to a single pain in the butt screw, I was never able to remove it to mess with it). The drive had been temperamental for some time and I was lucky to get through 1 1/2 playthroughs of ME2 before it refused to spin no more. Now I am waiting for my brand new drive to come in.

Yeah, If he makes her feel like she can take on the whole galaxy then she really is looking to him for support. That's the reason I don't get the people that think Shep is unflappable. I guess I get that it's role playing but if you choose to pursue the relationship with Kaidan especially playing paragon she pretty much admits that she needs him. I mean the choice itself seems to define the role your playing.

Agreed. This might just be my imagining things, but I somehow got the distinct impression that the Kaidan romance actually goes through several.. well.. stages, I suppose - the way it starts it seems that he has an interest in Shepard and she picks up on that and it starts off on a rather playful tone. As things progress, though, more and more things end piled up on her shoulders and he seems to be the one person who notices enough to tell her not to let it get to the point where she's crushed under the weight. Towards the end, it's serious simply because he's been there for her in a way no one else has.

To be honest, in retrospect I don't mind Horizon so much; it would've been great to shout back at him and have a bit more of a quarrel, but thinking about it I think the whole encounter was a bit too much of a shock for Kate in the least to process it properly. After all, on her end she told him to get into an escape pod, then fell into space, then woke up under attack from robots; as much as people say it's been two years, I'm not sure she really ever had the time to emotionally process the fact 'til Kaidan hits her in the face with it.

I admit all of this might just be in my mind as well since it's not exactly like BioWare speaks it out loud, and it's a bit of a stretch that you can't reply; on the other hand, the scene of Shepard staring at the picture somehow seemed to speak volumes.

I can't see how it wouldn't be turned into something in Mass Effect 3, seeing all that.

And.. (ye gods, this is really turning into one huge quote fest..)

To be honest I'm not so sure that she has processed the fact that it's been two years since the Normandy went down. Being busy with the collectors more than likely has kept her occupied enough that she hasn't had to deal with it yet at least if you're playing faithful to your LI. If a person cheats they could argue that their Shep had moved on and dealt with it...again the choice determining the role your playing.

When she talks to Joker about Kaidan she says time is not all she's lost and that she's sick of this garbage...I think it's her way of saying she want her life back but she really hasn't got time to deal with it at that moment. I kind of think that Kaidan and Shep reconciling in ME3 will go a long way in helping her be able to deal with the time she's lost and heal a lot of wounds with both of them...sorry I'm rambling.

I totally missed that convo with Joker!  Now I have to go back just to hear it.  I got the one with Kelly but missed that one.

About the fact that Shepard doesn't seem to have processed how much time has passed, I actually had a line in one of my fanfics where she's talking to Kelly after Horizon and says,
"For me it’s only been a couple of months, so I always assumed that he and I would pick up right where we left off. I see now that I was an idiot to expect that. It’s been two years for him, two years in which he was mourning my death, and you can’t just go back to the way things were after something like that."  So I totally get what you're saying.

Serious answer: I don't think it'll effect too much. He's a good guy and I could see him wanting to make things a joint effort rather than pulling rank. I wonder if this is where the cheating thing comes into play; the ship mood becomes tense perhaps.

Also, Staff Commander Alenko commands the staff well.

Yeah, I don't see Kaidan pulling rank on her, but I could see some playful teasing around the subject.  Something like he calls her, "Ma'am," and she replies, "Well, technically you outrank me, so shouldn't I be calling you sir?"

Well, we really don't see enough in those few seconds to fully judge, but he has had two years in which to exercise.   Hopefully Bioware will give us a better, clearer, longer view of Kaidan's bare chest in ME3...umm...for purely scientific research purposes.  Yeah.

I can't see any friction between Kaidan and Shepard *wink wink* regarding him being a higher rank than her, a bit of playful teasing would be fun though.

Even if they disagreed about a decision Kaidan is the kind of person who would let her know but I think ultimately he would defer as she's the Spectre. I wouldn't be suprised if she does rejoin the Alliance if they give her a promotion, something like 'supreme badass' would be fine with me ;-)

Sounds lovely! I'm not a fan at all of Jacob's over the top meatyness, ugh. From what we get to see of it, Kaidan's got a hot body, just check out those biceps! Besides, on the Normandy in ME1, can't you see the outline of his abs through his shirt? Thought I'd read something to that effect...
