I'm happy beaing a peasant, then.  I write nothing but happy endings.  When I do actually finish a story, that is.

In "Heart of Gold", Nandi mentions that she did not age at all. During a panel at 2008's DragonCon, Morena Baccarin confirmed that Inara was indeed dying of a terminal illness.

This talk about tragedy and twists and such reminds me of the interview we read a few days ago - the suggestion was that the ME trilogy is following the normal 3-act arc. Usually if you see bliss in Act 2, it ends in ironic tragedy in Act 3; when you see tragedy and plot twistage in Act 2, that usually means there will be some kind of reconciliation in Act 3. Right... There are lots of 3-act things that have happy endings. Those usually have twist or drama or tragedy in act 2, which is resolved for the better in act 3. I think Mass Effect falls into that category - ME2 was dramatic and tragic enough, and if they're following the regular pattern, that suggests that ME3 will involve reconciliation and resolution - i.e. a happy ending.
