This was his first quote...he knows they are not the same. He's either contradicting himself or he's a cleverly disguised troll.

See, now I *know* you're a guy!    Let's compare:

Kaidan is a quiet, reserved, intelligent guy, who grew up dealing with being an L2 biotic, and not only didn't go insane, but ended up in great control.  He takes great pride in his position in the Alliance, and is a good soldier. 

He expresses concern for Shepard whether or not he's a love interest, and only tells you about Brain Camp because he wants to relate his own experiences to the current mission, and why he feels the way he does. 

If he falls in love with Shepard, he makes it clear that he's not interested in just a fling, but rather a real relationship, and if that means waiting for the mission to end to explore their feelings on shore leave, he's okay with that, because Shepard is worth the wait.

OR...

Jacob is not particularly quiet or reserved, and will give his opinion on new teammates whether Shepard asks for it or not. 

He left the Alliance because he didn't like to follow orders, and doesn't seem very loyal to Cerberus either.  He doesn't seem to like talking about "feelings", and only tells Shepard about his father's situation because Miranda cared enough to tip him off...Miranda being the person he cared enough about to share that info about his missing dad, by the way.

He says he's not good enough for Miranda, but has no problem pursuing a romance with Shepard.  He will only tell Shepard he loves her if she rejects him, and he keeps pushing after that, until after the third rejection he calls Shepard a tease.

Yeah...not seeing much in common between the two, other than the fact that they are both human males.

I want them all back in ME3, including Jacob -- maybe they can redeem him as a pal to femshep at least.

I actually found Jacob to be just fine as a buddy - and nothing more.  He's easy enough to keep on the friendship route, which is actually a major improvement over ME1 where you had a 50/50 chance of being stealth-romanced and ambushed by Kaidan or Ashley before Ilos.

Can't speak for Thane/Miranda/Tali/Morinth/Jack, but at least with Kelly and Jacob there's an obvious "let's be friends" button and with Garrus there's a huge neon "CLICK HERE FOR RAUNCHY ALIEN ROMP" button.

I never felt like there was any "stealth-romace."  I feel most people who did that would just click the top option because it was paragon. If you were really paying attention to the conversations going on and your responses, it was quite easy to tell you were engaging in something more and avoid it if you want.

At least with Kaidan (not sure about Ash) you end up romanced even if every time it comes up you give him the "maybe I'm interested but not right now" option, which seems at least heavily camouflaged even if it's not entirely stealth romance.  Suppose you can't blame the guy for trying though, since we all know FemShep is quite the... well, you know.  PRAAAAAAAHZ!

/co-signed! Zaeed reminds me of the massive crush I had on Will Scarlet (played by Ray Winstone) in the '80s BBC Robin of Sherwood series.

You can get stealth romanced by Ashley. My boyfriend is on Ilos right now during his first Mass Effect 1 playthrough, and he thought he had diffused the Ash romance in his game. He still got the locker scene, and had to tell her "Not right now" before Ilos.

He's going to have an Ash photo on his ship when he loads up ME2 later tonight!

I've never used that line so I'm unsure... but it does look like you're still leaving room for the possibility of a romance. I think you have to outright tell him no to stop it.

Yes, brownies!  SCORE!  And since I'm not cooking they won't be carbon squares.  Yes, I'm that bad.  I left out in my list of kitchen kills the other day the dishwasher I imploded.  Had forgotten about it and that one wasn't really my fault beyond the fact that I did stray into the kitchen's territory despite it's repeated warnings I was not to do so.

As for Mr. Troll.  Sorry dude, I'm going to have to classify you as that.  Man I think it's funny when they stray in here.  We descend on them like crazed harpies.  Someone should play Flight of the Valkyries as we swoop down on the trolls in organized strafing runs, pelting them with tampon boxes.

LOL @ Jacob being the same as Kaidan. They're both the male leads of their respective games, but they are very different. The very fact that Jacob calls Shepard a priiiize is telling enough. Such a shame that Bioware screwed up the romance for Jacob.

In all fairness to Jacob, the whole Miranda deserves a better man than I makes complete sense if you are playing a dudeshep. I really don't think the writers considered what the female side would think about being a 2nd place prize.

That being said, I still think he comes across too strong and is therefor, creepy to me.
