@star team Gizka disappointed me so much, I've waited for that mod for like years! And nothing :-(

on the subject of girl gamers where I live we are still a rare creature, some kids at school found out I play x-box and now there is an obsession with trying to get my gamer tag the number who I don't even teach who stop me,

them: miss do u really have x-box?!

me: yes

them: and you like play games

me: *rolls eyes* yes

LOL sounds like they think it's the weirdest thing in the world that you would play games.

It really is that unusual here, if I go into a game shop on my own, I get pounced on, I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted, I remeber having a conversation once about RPG's and asking him if there was anything worth playing out, he kept listing them like I'd never heard of them and I was like, yeah played that, played that too, completed that when it first came out in 1990, by the end of it, I was going through games he hadn't played and if I'm honest feeling quite smug about it!

And I hated it when I went to pick-up my  buy CoD:MW2 pre-oder,

Game dude:  a treat for your boyfriend?

Me: *scowl*  no it's for me

Dude:  *shocked look* Oh have you played CoD before?

Me:  Yes, all of them!

Dude:  I don't know many girls who play proper games.

Me:  Yeah well, I do, so can I have my game please?

It can be pretty frustrating to shop for video games but at least I usually find at least one girl working at my  local games stores so they tend to be a bit easier to deal with.  I live in gamer country though,  surrounded by Microsoft, Nintendo and many others so we seem to have a pretty good community of girl gamers.

What really drives me nuts is when a guy knows I play and still feels the need to explain what an NPC, DPS or AOE, etc  are. Dude! I know!!  Posted Image

*grins*  When I bought ME1, the sales person looked at me, made the assumption that I *must* be purchasing the game for someone else (most likely younger and male) and said, "I just want to point out that this game is rated 'M" for mature."

Me:  *sweet sweet smile and sugary tone*  I think I'm old enough to play!

Salesperson:  *backpedals frantically*  That's so cool!  My Mom plays too.

urgh.

I didn't want to bring up the age thing but it's a double whammy being over 40 and female. Every time I go into Gamestop I feel out of place.

Good morning. I'ts about 6:45 am here and I just popped in for some Kaidan inspiration before heading off to 4+ hours of meetings.

Here's some sad inspiration. Dunno how this will translate to the forums, but here is the full version.

I doubt they were close at all...he mentioned the citadel doctor in the email(as a date) but not Lilith(even if she was the one he was referring to in terms of someone he cared about). He mentions Virmire and he and Ash weren't romantically involved.

I think the guy(forgot his name) that gets mad at Shep for not saving Lilith had a thing for her...but then again maybe the real reason he hated Kaidan was that Lilith had a crush on our Kai Kai or he suspected something was going on between them. I would say that would be more in the area of fanfic though.

Yeah, I think we can be pretty sure Delan had a thing for Lilith.  I would even argue that it was mutual.  I'd go so far as to say I think we're reading too much into that one look but then where would be the fun of watching her get liquified?

Hi everyone.  The idea that Delan had a thing for Lilith is actually the theme of my current fanfic in progress.  I was actually worried the idea was a little far-fetched.  Guess not :)

Yay more fanfic! Poor Lilith we're just looking for ways to blame her for everything

I wonder if Bioware had any idea they might get a reaction like this over Lilith.

Probably not if they thought femsheps would like Jacob and DAO had a fairytale ending.

Why on earth would we like Jacob, and is sleeping with someone elase a fairytale ending?

Some fairytales can be quite dark and not all of them have happy endings.(you won't find them at Disney though)

Haha - ironically, reading all the responses, if they ever defined a girl gamer stereotype, it sounds like most of us would fit in it! Swear like troopers, live in jeans, no time for make-up, find shopping to be slow torture... Posted Image

I do wish I was more likely to deck someone who upsets me than cry though. I so badly want to shout at people when they upset me, but I always end up in tears, and always feel like the worst kind of manipulating female when I do it. Meh.

So much lovely fanfic and pictures to catch up on today. Pictures with TOWELS! Posted Image

This is a thing of beauty.

Did anyone else find themselves unable to access anything for a couple hours?  I was about to go through withdrawal!

Yeah, kept getting the links broken page.

There is quite a positive energy about the thread. Not the mention the security. Some of us women might be frightened in the dark. :)( I love gender stereotypes - they are good for so many things - making fun of them, being ironical or sarcastic about them, getting angry at them, fighting them, not paying any attention to them and so on.)

They may be laughing, but hey, if it sticks in their minds...

"So, team...Kaidan romance script. What was everyone's overall impression of the feedback from the forums?"

"Well. There seemed to be a recurring theme with showers and strategically placed towels..."

These forums are my first experience with any significant number of girl gamers, I'm used to being one of only a few woman in each MMO guild I've been in, typically any other women were married to someone else in the guild.

It's rather enjoyable having other gamer girls to chat with, I'm used to dropping comments in ventrillo and just getting dead silence from all the guys in the guilds when I was still playing MMOs. Posted Image

Of course there is "plays with my fair pony online game"
I came here by mistake.

Seriously I don't think girl gamers are that rare anymore.

BBC radio one has this show with info on new games and it is fronted by a girl. We are so mainstream.

There isn't really a stereotype beyond a kind of mythical status agmonst the guys - sort of like

"I saw... a Girl Gamer!"

*collective gasps*

"The Legends, where they true?"

"I do not know my friend, she was out of the store before I could work myself up to go talk to her."

Yes, we are.  I have a lot of girl nerd friends, but very few of them have the time or the inclination to game.  Despite my pestering.  I had to come here to find others like me.

I had to join Kaidan Addicts Anonymous.

It is?! I know they have a Game segment, but I thought it was a bloke who did it...? Though it was in Fern Cotton's show...
