Bioware has shown that they have the ability to create amazing characters and have them interact with us in ways that touch our hearts and souls, to suddenly well...skimp on that just doesn't seem like them...Yes I'm thinking about Kaidan/Ash/Liara, but I'm also thinking about the new characters like Thane, Miranda, Jacob, Kelly, Legion, Mordin, etc...even the ones that aren't romanceable (which is a small minority and sometimes makes me think Shep should wear a t-shirt that says "I'm commander Shepard and I'll hump anything with a pulse...")...I really enjoyed some of the newer characters and would have welcomed the opportunity to get to know them a little better....but I'm not willing to jump into bed with them to get to that stage and I don't believe that I should have to.

The way you get cut off if you don't romance them is like Bioware saying that the only kind of relationships Shep can have now are romantic ones. They went overboard with it in my opinion. And yeah I agree with the T-shirt thing. I think she could possibly get a second one that reads "I'm a s-l-u-t" in reference to Jacob. The whole idea of building relationships was reduced to sex at least that was how it felt to me.

And I felt like they were forced on my Femshep as well....I didn't even talk to Thane on one of my playthroughs and when he died he called my Femshep beautiful...I just thought it was inappropriate...I hadn't encouraged him at all...simply gave the paragon option when he first came on the ship. The paragon option isn't supposed to mean I'm interested but in that case it evidently did even though I didn't talk to him again. From then on I only gave the neutral option to the Femshep LI's. I really didn't feel free to play it the way I wanted to.

Then I wonder why they felt the need to put that there since it's kinda obvious that no one else would be residing in Shepards quarters...I wonder if it could have been a hint that in ME3 you can move someone in with you...it would be progressing the relationship if you were technically living together...and if Kaidan eventually wound up there it would allow for some really great intimate cutscenes since it's a private area. I think I kind of like the idea of going to talk to him in Shep's quarters.

Part of me thinks it's Bioware trying to be funny, with the romances people are always banging on about how they wished they could romance x and how y was soooooo boring and even z would have been a better option. Unfortunately there are still people even with 9LI's saying they want to romance more people and it makes me sad because all I want is the original one back :-(

Maybe that's always been their intention, I'm waiting for Bioware to pull something amazing, look at DA it wasn't perfect but it was a hell of a lot better than past romances like Anomen where you slept together and then he like never mentioned it again, a bit too life like if you ask me

If they manage some sort of ME1/DA hybrid as far as romances go I will be a very happy bunny, If he's a squad mate, well I'll even put on bunny ears and dance naked round a life size Kaidan cut-out.
