I agree completely.

In every relationship, there is a time to be selfish and a time to look out for the other person. I think something that Shepard needs to realize is is that it's not all about her. Yes, she was resurrected and there's a lot of baggage with that.

But Kaidan has two years of pain and old wounds. Those wounds have been reopened; he lashed out in pain. For a guy as softspoken and unselfish as him, his reaction says a lot.

And the email was the best he could do. He couldn't propose a meeting; he's obviously an agent for Anderson atm. I think he was also giving Shepard her space so he could do her job and not have to worry about him distracting her. He had the same concern of 'muddying things' in ME1. He put aside his desire to see her again so that she could work uninhibited. He doesn't want to burden her any more than he already has.

Kaidan is a very caring person, and I think it's time that Shepard returned the favor, you know? ^_^

You just made me want to rewrite a few parts of my current fic-in-progress.

Are you kidding?  Joker listened in to everything.  Even before EDI was giving him live feeds. ;)

Yes I really think Joker listened in too everything :P

Heh!  Reminds me of Ash snarking about the hanar in Iunctio...  *big grin*

This, x1000.  (And the fact that, in spite of getting only a little screen time in ME2, Bioware managed to convey this, really impresses me.)

Co-signed! Before he met EDI, he was empty on the inside...but listening to the awkward foot-in-mouth moments made him laugh, at least.^_^

I never pegged Shep for a wordy response but I guess it depends how u play your Shep Kaidan said what he needed to, which was less than he wanted yet more than he should.

Lol! Hope that makes sense! I suspect Anderson didn't want him to contact Shep at all *sigh* I miss him so much *sob*

It does make sense.

Let's not forget that Shepard comes back from the dead. It is no something that happens every day. Anybody would be shocked. Besides Cerberus brought Shep back but did they really bring the whole of her back or just some clone with imported memories. I think Kaidan's reaction is completely understandable.

I always figured my Shep to be the kind of person who says more with actions than words. So, if she could have replied, it would have been short and sweet, and hopefully convey to him that Ilos meant everything to her as well. No justifications of what she is doing or trying to talk him to her side. Just an affirmation of what she feels towards him.

Agreed, we all know what happens when Shepard does try wording her feelings....it's usually very awkward ;)

Plus there's that whole fact that when you get the Kaidan email, you never know how much of your email is being read by you alone - and how many of your replies would get copies to others. My Shep would be paranoid that the whole ship is BCC to a reply.

I was just about to say something very similar.  My shep would just prove through her actions that she was still the same person, and just a quick note about how she feels.

I always thought it was a bit strange that everyone besides the alliance peps were totally cool with Shep coming back from the dead, hello doesn't dead spectre walking seem just a bit unbelievable?

Of course Kaidan would some serious issues with Shepard just appearing 2+ years after her death. I wrote a fic around that topic and unfortunately I suck at writing so I couldn’t do it justice.  So as much as Horizon breaks our hearts it’s completely understandable from Kaidan’s pov.

Enough. TIM asks if you're done with the past after Horizon.
