I really don't think they'll get the chance...personally (and I've said this before) I think that if you choose someone else in ME2 there is a good chance the game won't even register you ever having an ME LI. Kaidan/Ash will play their final role as a Virmire survivor only.

I mean as much scripting as Bioware as to do why put themselves out by doing all the extra just for a revenge(or jealousy) scenario. I consider losing them as a possible LI the consequences for cheating...who knows...for those who cheated perhaps Kaidan will be married to the doc on the citadel in those games.

Exactly, why do you need to justify it?

For me, I didn't need any justification to stay faithful. He was upset, rightly so. My Shep still loves him and is willing to fight for him. (Course, she has to make sure humanity doesn't get wiped out by the Collectors first.)

The idea of being second choice, the casual fling, or the reminder of the dead wife is not what my Shep is looking for. She will take angry words from a man who loved her for her.

I doubt they would ignore the relationship if you had a ME2 relationship.   They could pull an Alistair and have Kaidan chew you out over it and end the relationship but I don't think BW would pretend like the ME1 relationship didn't exist.

I understand the concept of liking Kaidan, but seeing Thane's romance and liking him more now...but if you're torn, you can always have multiple characters, and have both romances, eventually. 

Personally, I can't "move on" with a new love interest, but since I moved between Alistair, Zevran, and Leliana like a cat in heat in Dragon Age, even though I looooooove Alistair, I can't really judge anyone who just wants to experience the romances in this game.  It's not necessary to make up a long list of reasons as to why you do so, though.  Sometimes you just want to bone everybody, like Don Lothario in the Sims.

Guilt is a powerful thing...it can follow you almost anywhere even into a game. Of course they may be a little too emersed. One has to wonder when you have to justify yourself to an entire forum of fellow game players.
