Now why does that comment sound like a country song to me?

Well there's something to be said for a tragic romantic death ending.
I always liked the Carth + Revan die on the Star Forge ending from KotOR which they stupidly cut: www.youtube.com/watch

I dunno I just liked Carth's dedication to saving the woman he loved from true darkness.
It should be an option I say.

Just stopped by to add support for both Ash and Kaiden for ME3!:)

Thanks...I stopped by the Ash thread...I think yesterday...I see that you're getting closer to the 100 page mark...congrats...it's good to see you're still going strong.

I'm okay with a tragic ending IF we don't plan things right, like in ME2. A puppies and sunshine ending should be possible if you plan things out well.

Multiple endings would be fine with me...I'd probably go with the happy one.

I love tragically romantic endings in movies and books, but for video games, I get too wrapped up in my character. Endings like Planescape: Torment (or much, much worse, NWN2) don't impress me, even though I understand why others might find tragic endings to be "better."

Also, eff heroic sacrifices, my character wants to live in the end, dammit, even if it means shoving Sarah Lyons into a microwave.

I think a Happy ending would be better for this game. However, I would want Kaidan in my Shepard arms when, and If I died the second time it better damn well be in the arms of someone you loved.

LMAO. You fiend.

I knew you couldn't play after the endgame so I chose to die. Then dlc came out, and my death was negated w00t.

On the plus side, I'm watching my gerbil dig into the glass corner of his tank. His little fat arms are jiggling furiously. <3

Also, we finally have Kaidan avatars.

It occurs to me that if they really had to keep Kaidan's role so small, they could've at least have had him (or Ashley) get taken by the Collectors along with the other colonists.

Fast forward to the Collector base, you find Kaidan just about to go in a smoothee tube and save him for a big romantic finale. Hooray! Less complaining about Cerberus, more "you saved me!" smooching.

Haha, I did a "do-over" once Broken Steel came out, but before that, the choice was easy.  She wasn't my character's friend, just some self-righteous chick you meet in the last part of the game who tells you what to do.

That is one thing I never liked about Bethesda games; no emotional attachment to characters at all.  If they had made us CARE about Martin, Oblivion's story would have been way more interesting.  If you had had memories of your past life as Nerevar, and had more interesting dialogue with Vivec and Almalexia, being the Nerevarine would have been more than just an empty plot device in Morrowind.  And Fallout 3 just continued the tradition of having cool story elements with shallow, boring characters.

I like caring about the NPCs I meet in games.  I care about Kaidan.

Funny you should say that. I'll agree that most Bethesda npcs aren't very compelling. But there were two that I can think of atm that I really liked and got attached to
1. James (dad) from Fallout 3
2. Lucien Lachance

James from Fallout 3...loved that character. Was disappointed when he died. Having Liam Neeson voice him was a plus too.

I thought James was kind of hot for an older dude. Then I was like, "wait... he's my character's dad".

What if Liara was just an unbiased observer that would offer hints and suggestions...I mean, she's already been in Sheps head...

I agree.  I think it would have made more sense as to why he was so absent during the rest of ME2.  Of course I would have sped through the game and the rest of my crew would probably have died.   ^_^

Oh yeah, Liam Neeson goes without saying, and the thing that gave me hope about Fallout 3 was that the same guy who had written the Dark Brotherhood questline was the Lead Writer for that game.  And FO3 is somewhat better in general than the older games, in terms of story, but the main quest was not very engaging.  But like I said, I need to care about characters.  Otherwise I'm just going to spend all my time in the game downloading new armor and hair, so I can be a fashion model in the wasteland.

Ehh...that's actually what I thought was going to happen and was unimpressed with that plot.  I was like, seriously BW?  We're going to rescue the princess?  Will she really be there or will she be in another castle?

Plus, there would have been that slight chance that I would frel around too much and he'd get liquified...

I did think it was a bit odd I was more upset when Lucien died than when Martin did.  Seems like that might be a sign something wasn't done quite right :)

I think Shepard was asking for a threesome and the ability to have a relationship with both of them at the same time. So maybe it wasn't all about sex?

The problem with James in Fallout 3 is that he had the stupidest. Death. Ever.

Yeah okay some nutball you don't know about wants to steal your water purifier.. okay.. so what? Feign cooperation while your kid figures out a way to rescue you?

But noo instead it's oh hey I'll kill myself with magic radiation (which doesn't kill the other dude but whatever).

And don't get me started on the Dark Brotherhood quest. HOW FREAKING OBVIOUS WAS IT THAT YOU WEREN'T GETTING ORDERS FROM LUCIEN ANYMORE!? But you have to follow the plot like an idiot! Arrrgh!

But that's Bethesda in a nutshell, good premise that ultimately shoots itself in the foot.
