@joisan. My thoughts on Shiala : Posted Image

Yeah.  The "get another girlfriend" would have worked so perfectly there.  One of the funniest moments from the D&D game my best friend and I played in middle school.  I, as the DM, had assassins break into the room where our characters were sleeping.

Her character: "What do you want?"

Me: (speaking in character as the assassin) "I want you."  (Meant in the sense of, "I want your life" but she took it entirely differently)

Her: "I'm taken.  Get. Another. Girlfriend."

To this day all we have to do is reference that moment for both of us to burst out laughing.

Okay...think I'm officially too old to play Final Fantasy. When you get all annoyed because some teen looking guy (despite him being in his early twenties) speaks of this 18 year old (who looks like 12) as his bride to be. I feel no attachment to any of the characters this time around, they feel so...unreal. Dialogue isn't flowing and often makes me frown as if it was badly translated. Normally  I have no problems dealing with it but so close after games like ME and DA, I just can't stomach this colourful world where teens with guns and swords walk around in skimpy clothes. *sighs* I'm turning into an old hag.

Yeah, it was odd when I picked up XIII the other day. The last three games I played were all adult games (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Heavy Rain), and where I'm not hating XIII yet, I am missing some of grittiness (for lack of a better term) of my adult games.

Huh. I got invited along by a classmate when he and some others from our school did some roleplaying. Was hilarious to listen to them, and it really got me inspired to draw, but it wasn't really something for me I think. *Snorts* I'm pretty sure the DM was out for my head. Not to mention I'm so shy that sitting in room with 6-7 guys (Including my crush ) on a saturday night made me be somewhat... quiet...  But they ran with quite simplified rules (As far as I gathered, the game's rules weren't even as complex as the D&D rules to begin with) so combat was quite fastpaced.

I totally have the shy thing, but at my house with hubby, son and some good buddies it's ok.
This reminds me of the time we had a bunch of people over to play Gears of War 2. We had several tvs going. I got really into the game and started unintentionally shouting some hefty swears.  I think I really scared a couple of the guys. I seem so innocent at first glance. I was pretty embarrassed. I ran off to play Mass Effect shortly thereafter.  Oh, and yes I was the only girl there. Posted Image

Hehehe, this is why I game with people I consider brothers.  We have Resident Evil 5.  We shoot up zombies since it's a twoplayer game, cussing like marines on shore leave.  Especially when one of us buys it.

Well, hubby likes to bring new young blood home to play often. The regulars are use to my colorful outbursts. Posted Image
I should mention that my teenage son is always around so I suppose some think that my language is inappropriate. I say if he didn't hear it coming out of my mouth he would here is elsewhere. Besides, what are you supposed to say when some takes a chainsaw to your head, "oh be nice" Posted Image

Ah, I've always been too old then, *snickers* Ah, don't say that hun, you're just not willing to buy the bull poo of 'I look 12 but I'm really 18 honest' that JRPGs pull all the time. *p-hugs*

Blegh...*eyes Kaidan, eyes her tv screen with teen 'hunk' , eyes Kaidan again*....just can't...

Okay, I have to head off to class, and I most likely will not be back before I head to the airport. Keep the Kai-Kai love going and I'll be back tomorrow morning. Somewhat later than usual as I will be waking up on Pacific time.

Hehe yeah, being the only female in a room of five guys can be very interesting, but I'm not shy about speaking up.  Of course, it probably helps that I do not have a crush on any of my fellow players.

Girl gamers for the most part are used to be vastly out numbered, the ones that are uncomfortable don't last long.

In D&D or gaming? I think Popcap published a thing that said the 'average gamer' was now a 40 year old woman, *chuckles* Of course, thats of Popcap games *hides copy of Plants vs Zombies*

Awesome, I'm the average gamer now  Posted Image

Bad timing then perhaps....though not sure. I'll keep at it...but it's not pulling me in. *angry* Stupid stupid stupid, I blame Kaidan with his adult hotness.

My husband and his friends can look at a 20 year old woman and go "man is she hot", I look at the typical 20 year old eye candy actor guy and think "throw him back in the pond for a few more years"

We would like to find more gamers to have over for RP'ing, especially since our friend moved away.   But you can't really go around advertising for that sort of thing.  Because RP'ing, for the rest of the world, means something ENTIRELY different.

Indeedie! But I've never 'Got' JRPGs - not most "J-" games like MGS. WHY ARE YOU SHOWING ME A MOVIE IN MY GAME? - is all I can think when I'm 'playing' a JRPG. Also, "Why is that squeeky voiced kid running around with a sword? Shouldn't the adults take the deadly weapon off of him?"

Link gets away with it, but the rest....*ergh*.

Indeed. The characters don't have to be hot for me to enjoy it, but their dialogue and the adult type story make so little sense. Even the mother of a teen boy looked in her twenties to me, I can't work with that lol

Pfft, I think it's more of a change of perspective than anything else, because I'm starting to feel the same way. The fandom doesn't exactly help either. *Shakes on her head*
