Just finished the most recent chapter of Standard Issue Life. Do I smell a lead-up to Horizon?

I do believe so! I have to admit, I'm sort of looking forward to having my heart broken all over again by the Horizon chapter when it's posted.

Same here!  :P  We are such gluttons for punishment.

I loved that Kaidan's first view of Shep wasn't immediately recognizable but that he had to piece it all together.  You could really feel his mind trying to process all information before making the connection.

Not like it's every day someone comes back from the dead.

I'd be a bad comparsion if the day you where comparing it too was around 40 AD ;)

Hey, give or take 2000 years....  I didn't say she was the first... :innocent:

Gah, I can't even fathom that, which is why I don't have to try and justify his reaction on Horizon. Hello, I've been dead for two years. Ghost indeed.

Good morning, all! It's nice to see a new fic and an updated fic to read on my day off :). I love towel Kaidan and those hips too, but my favorite is still migraine Kaidan. It gives me the strongest impulse to hug him.

I've got another 7 hours left at work and absolutely nothing to do. So I am counting on all of you to entertain me.  :P Just FYI.

Horizon irks me because your Shep isn't really given a chance to make a heartfelt case for herself. The minute she sees a person on the Cerberus station- Jacob- she asks what happened to the crew and tells Jacob she wants to find them. We all know who she's thinking of. And Counselor Anderson won't tell you where Kaidan is when you ask. When Shep sees Kaidan on Horizon finally, all she gets to talk about is Cerberus and how she's been clinically dead- but if I saw the man I loved after he thought I was dead, you can bet I'd tell him how I never stopped looking for him from the minute I woke up and that I love him still- after all, for Shep, two years haven't passed. It's like it was yesterday that they were lovers. More dialogue, better dialogue would have been a good thing. Or even a "Kaidan, when you're ready to believe in me and come to your senses, I'll be patiently waiting." Instead just, "Goodbye". Not remotely sufficient.

The only reason I can come up with for Shepard's asinine statements on Horizon is that the sight of Kaidan in that battle armor made her light headed.

There's a reason I didn't include her dialogue in my Horizon version.

I agree (and I believe many others on the thread do too).

The way I work with it is that Shep has planned all these possible things to say to Kaidan when she may actually find him, and then BAM! there he is and she is at a loss for words. So, she is grasping for just about anything. It's a nice reversal of roles since he was normally the one stammering for the right words.

But I do wish there had been an impassioned plea that we could have made. Especially after he finally says that he loved us.

There's a reason I didn't even include Horizon at all in Doubt Thou the Stars Are Fire.

And as for entertainment, that reminds me...  *Throws her ice skates, skating socks, and a cloth into a duffel bag* Wish me luck!  I'll be back later... don't know how much later.

I haven't been able to bring myself to write how my cannon Shep would react to Horizon. It'd be writing how my Cousland handled asking Alistair to sleep with Morrigan, and that was emotionally draining to do.

I'm thinking about leaving Kaidan on Vimmer, since I need a reason for why my Shepard goes renegade in ME2. I just hope that I can do this too her. I'm going to be romancing him, and make this a reason she goes bad. He was the reason she stayed afloat.

Ha HA! Catching up on this thread after a weekend away...when you get to the end, it's like coming up out of the water from a deep dive. The hen party was great fun, but I missed the Kaidan madness!

@Einea: You were asking about a picture with Kaidan and curly hair...was it this one?

And pretty please could I have Jho's sekrit Kaidan picture that was doing the rounds while I was away? Posted Image
