Will catch up later tonight. I just wanted to say, after reading the April issue of Game Informer during lunch, and specifically the interview with Casey Hudson gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/01/21/news-Mass-Effect-2-Interview-BioWare.aspx, I am getting less and less interested in Mass Effect 3. (Don't worry, there's nothing in it about ME LIs). But seriously Casey, did I play the same game you're talking about?!? I know it's been talked about to death, but while ME2 wasn't a bad game, it was a very dissapointing BIOWARE game.
Between this article, the snarky response to the letters from women defending Alistair from GIs trashing of him, and the disheartening article regarding female protaganists, I'm really getting disenfranchised with GI. And starting to get depressed!

Do you think Garrus (assuming he survived the suicide mission) will hold a grudge against Kaidan for not joining Shep on Horizon? On Horizon, Garrus seems to be a bit unhappy that Kaidan can't see past Cerberus and through to Shep's real mission. I wonder if we will have to use a persuade to keep them both in ME3.
Anyway, just thinking out loud.

I wouldn't make any judgements about this stuff until the game comes out, look at the way DA was marketed, everyone on the boards was really worried but it turned out to be a proper RPG.
Casey is focussing on what sells to the average GI reader, he isn't gonna make a big point of what the RPG fans want to see, but it doesn't mean that they're not listening to us, just that they're very good at selling games by telling eac market about the bits they want to see.

In all seriousness, I do worry that the off-topicness and fast moving chat is off putting to people who just want to talk about Kaidan. I totally appreciate the socializing, and I like joining in, but I was scrolling down the last page, and before Jho's pic there was a total of ONE post talking about Kaidan on there, which prompted my comment.
I have to say that I feel like this too, sometimes. It seems like the thread's been getting more off-topic more frequently lately. We really do NOT want to get locked for being off-topic, do we?
(snipped TZ's comment a little, so anything out of context is my fault)

Well, this may seem awful of me, but I do hope that Garrus does hold a bit of a grudge. Nothing that will make me have to pick one over the other... more of Garrus being a bit cold to him and at some point talking about how Kaidan turned away from her and not having faith in Shepard after everything they'd gone through together. I'd like to see Garrus demand Kaidan prove that he's there for femShep in a big brother protection kind of way.
But then, I've always viewed Garrus as my Shep's best friend/ big brother, so that would really just be best for me personally. Not sure how it would hold over for others who don't view him in that light.

I disagree. Official Xbox Magazine's people still do an outstanding job.
I may be biased, however, since they just wrote an article about me that will be appearing in the May issue.

Indeedie - I generally avoid the stuff - about the only 'publication' I read regulary is The Escapist, but thats not really a magazine.

Yeah there could be a bit of tension there between Kaidan & Garrus. I'm actually hoping we might see some angst between Kaidan & Joker and also Kaidan & Liara once he finds out that she gave sheps body to Cerberus (I know she rescued it from the shadowbroker but it will be interesting to see if bioware at least give us a couple of lines)Mrs Templar wrote...

Honestly? I forgot we had a chatroom outright. Plus, I think that'd split the community, to be honest. Especially if more new people come in, as I doubt they'll notice the chatroom.

I could see Bioware having some dialogue about that, but I don't know about having to use a persuade to keep them both in ME3. I generally make it a policy to max out my persuade as early as possible, so I would probably be able to make the persuade, but honestly it wouldn't break my heart if I didn't. I was pretty meh about Garrus in ME1, and then in ME2 his character frankly disturbed me a little.

Oh yeah, I thought about them too. Wrex as well (especially since he has such an open, sincere happiness when he sees Shepard again in ME2). It just would be silly NOT to put in conversations between them since they were the original family. If they meet again, of course they'd discuss what each one was up to and their opinions (and with so many strong personalities, no punches pulled).

Excellent point, Becca. Outside the network of devoted ME fans, they have to streamline the information, so that people who aren't familiar with the game can figure out what's going on thematically. If the interviewers get too specific on the nitty-gritty, there's a good chance of alienating potential customers.
(By the way, DA:O has completely surpassed my expecations. I didn't believe I would be as interested in the game as I eventually turned out to be.)

IMO I was disappointed Garrus had fallen so far when you meet up with him in ME2. I mean my paragon FemShep had worked very hard in ME1 to convince he to do things the right way not the fastest. I think if he really wanted to help people he should have tried to do something besides shoot mercs.
And yes I could see tension between Kaidan and several crew members: Liara, Garrus, Joker, Chakwas, Miranda, Jacob and my FemShep. I just hope BW gives us lots of dialog and lets the squad mates talk with each other.

I was sad to see the path Garrus had taken (even if it was taking out mercs... his mindset was a bit off), but I thought about how hard you had to work on bringing Garrus around in ME1 then thought about how traumatic it must have been for him when Shepard was lost. He was just getting around to setting out in life on a new path Shepard had helped him find, and then he loses that friend in a blink of the eye. I figured it wasn't much of a stretch for him to revert to a comfortable place and start acting outside the law once more. Especially with everyone Shepard had worked for twisting, hiding, or simply throwning away everything she did and stood for.

the problem is that I think we will be in the same situation as far as the number of squadmates is concerned - too many so the amount of dialogue suffers (well thats how it felt to me in ME2). Plus the fact that the marketing is aimed more at shooter fans so I think the dialogue suffers because of it. It just felt better in ME1. I would like to see them go the way of DAO where squaddies actually talk to each other while you're running around with them.Einea wrote...

This!
And then I think Joker gets to be a little angsty towards Kaidan for how he acted on horizon. Because technically everything Kaidan said about Shepard would be an insult to him as well.
